    Hey Jon, I have very recently moved over to an air blower by a company called BLO. For unprotected paintwork it is a real pain, but using it in conjunction with Angelwax bluerinse via a lance it gives an unprotected car enough 'beading' allowing the blower to work effortlessly (I use this 'trick' even when heading to cut or polish the car). It really has changed my outlook on the need for drying towels which IMHO end up costing more in the long run than the cost of one larger purchase in the BLO dryer.

    Jon, I've stoped using Drying towls. Found they caused too much drag. I now use Larry from Ammo NYC's tip. Some angel wax Blue Rinse, followed by some megs ultimate detailer diluted 1:1, and then a damp microfibre towl. Much prefer this to a dry towl, being pulled across a wet panel.

    Ive had and used AutoFinesse's drying towel for months, used it on over 150 vehicles, multiples times daily before washing it and it's honestly my favourite, it sucks water up, it's soft, never had any lint issue, washes and becomes brand new, only issue I have with it is that once it is dry and you use it then it doesn't perform as well until wet which is odd but regardless a very good towel and reasonably priced.

    • @Vyker
      @Vyker 4 года назад

      D0DG3R sounds like you need a new detergent. It's leaving a coat of something on the towel preventing it from soaking when dry.

    I haven't found a particular winner, honestly. I did, however, find that I prefer a 16x16 size towel because they are just so much easier to wring out and I'd rather wring it out one or twice per panel than wreck my hands trying to wring a towel that you can do a quarter or half a car at a time.

    I am currently in love with the CarPro dehydrate, the smaller of the 2 so it's easier to wring out. It's twist knot technology just like the gyeon series. Just drag and its bone dry with very little pressured contact at all if any which is what we want so we don't induce marring. I don't use any drying aids either I would recommend especially if you own more than one car and wish to wash and dry both without having a sopping wet gorilla towel.

    Do you use any drying aids, if so could you do a video comparison on those?
    Autoglym Instadry for the majority (Not for swirl free paint though.),
    Auto Finesse Aqua Deluxe for the finessing
    and a cheap smaller drying towel for the door shuts etc
    Just bought the Meguiar's Supreme drying towel and will try that next. (In the winter kit, £54 in Halfords)

    Hi Jon, Late to see this one. This DT malarky maybe the most asked, wriiten about item. You are correct, what’s the personal view? I believe it’s divided by two camps. 1. Draggers. 2. Pat dryers.
    I am not a dragger for all the known reasons. Those that like big towels, hold loads of water, get heavier and mar more. Pat dry is better, no marring, smaller towel to deal with. Gtech M4 is good, my 14yr old Magnet same. We want to remove water safely, without that heavy towel nonsense and quickly. Gtech MF-4 is priceless. JMHO.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 года назад

      your right pat drying is like the safestest for sure.. no doubt. but like it depends what level your at. And sometimes speed is really important. so like the warp towels I will just gently almost lift..
      but if I have correct paintwork yes I am more mindfull of what I do when I towel dry.. but on normal cars It just doesnt really matter. I think most people been around detailing a while will sort of understand whats safer.

    I personally liked the Liquid Elements Silverback XL very much, but now i must say there is a new champion from LE. The Black Hole! Try it, its even better than the Silverback and not much more expensive!
    Like all LE products you get a very good bang for the buck and very good results. Great company, run by a physicist and a crazy team of detailing and tuning freaks. They have a YT channel, but unfortunately it's only in german.

      Silverback is a very nice coral fleece towel perfect size perfect price, still love this towel today. The black hole looks like other ones on the market. dual side twisted pile. these are marmite towels you either love or hate them. I love them for quicky getting 99% of the water off a car.. the downsides to twisted pile towels is you cant sort of buff a panel with them (or you shouldnt). I may redo drying towels at some point although theres not been "that" much innovation since shooting the last one 3-4 years ago. cheers mate

    Doesn't overtime a leaf blower just makes sense since you can only use it in your driveway as well as to dry off your car? Are there downsides that I'm missing? You can find cordless leaf blowers on Amazon for like $69. Same with power washers; they are far cheaper than I anticipated and they can do my siding, concrete, fencing, trash and recycling bins, and of course my car. I was looking at the spray pumps, but if you've got a garage, I don't, why not go all in?

    Hey do you know you can add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of white vinegar to your wash to unclog up the wax and dirt etc out of the fibers? I did it recently and my towels are like new again

    I have the Silverback but I'm not happy with it. It smears the water around.
    Now I'm using the Chipmunk from "Microfiber Madness". It's better. I like it

    I use Carpro Dhydrate and Carpro Fat Boa for drying. Fat Boa first and then Dhydrate last.

    I’ll be getting one of those next, I was very disappointed with the woolly mamouth.

    Hey Jon. What are your thoughts on using DI water and leaving the car to dry on its own v one of these towels?

    I like the Pluffle from The Rag Company. I dislike the larger towels, they are too heavy and easier to drag on the ground.

    Try the Autoglym Hi-Tech Microfibre Drying Towel. I had one given to me. Does a great job

    Hi Jon. Do you recommend to damp the drying towel before drying or it's not necessary?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  4 года назад +1

      no you will just loose absorption. a dry towel works better than a wet one. You can spritz some drying aid onto the panel or towel maybe, although I dont subscribe that a towel needs to lubricated but putting a drying aid on the panel can really make life easier. certain things like this fall into the catagory of each to their own. As long as you dont go turbo buffing your towel with loads of pressure into or over the paint anything goes.

    I have the Korean dual twist pile towel that you recommend, it was great for the first use, but not so for the second use. Should I be washing it after every use or am I missing something else? Cheers

      I tend to wash it after every use. maybe in summer ill sometimes just hang it. did you wash it with just pure non bio. no tumble drying either.

      @@ForensicDetailing I didn’t wash it lol… just let it dry in the garage. I’ve since watched the video on washing drying towels so going to get some liquid non-bio stuff tomorrow.
