68W attached to infantry is what I wanted! I just joined the National Guard as a 68W, and have been an EMT for a decade. I’m glad that I’m slated to be attached to the infantry, because I also just graduated nursing school! So, my civilian job will be in a hospital. I don’t want to be working as an RN in a hospital for my civilian job, and then having to work in a hospital for my national guard duty too! I want to get some field time!

The worst medicine is not doing anything to even a minor injury. Look up things if you don't know something. If you come in as an e4 going to a line company, be open minded to your senior medic and other medics, because you are private until you gain time and experience. Don't be the new e4 who was prior ems who thinks he's the shit. Those are the worst

I was a grunt for 9 years, airborne, ranger school, fucing loved it. I never had to worry about what I said and how I said it, dark humor was always there and you're bros are always there to beat your ass or brighten your mood, one thing is we always have each other's backs, at home or especially in combat. We habe a code we live by it'd not some punch word for he fucking day that's what separates us from the rest of the herd. We live our job, it's a life style and I loved every second of it. I got out in 09 because the army was just taking steps off the stupid deep end and looking at shit today glad I did get out and not retire like I wanted to.

If it's like you say it is I think I'll be in my dream job lol. I'm working to get an Option 4 to go to Airborne as a 68w when I enlist this fall (taking time to get in shape) and then I'll apply to RASP while in Ft Benning.
I've always been fascinated with military weapons and equipment for some reason and the idea of being a part of something greater than myself that gives me purpose is exactly what I want in life. I want to push myself to be the best person I can be and I want to have a job that makes me feel like I need to get up in the morning to help the people I care about out, so I genuinely think the Rangers and 68W is a good path for me. I feel like every kid fresh out of high school who's interested in the military wants to join SOF or some shit, but I seriously want to make this happen

@@charlieroberts2211I scored a 50, but my line scores were all above 105… don’t worry about scoring really high, but pretty good in everything is my best advice especially your general technical aim towards 110… I qualified for signal and intelligence, such as 94F, 35L,25D and 17C and a few more also got 91J,91D also 91B as tempted as I was to take 15Y cause it’s pretty hard to get, and the certifications are endless as well as pay/jobs on the civilian sector, I picked 68W… make sure you do tons of research on the MOS you think is best suited and relatable to you as a person not what’s just right in your face.. research into the future of job stability (if you don’t plan on making a career in the military) make sure the job is actually what it is displayed as not what the “recruiter tells you” the odds are you aren’t going to be “kicking down doors and taking down bad guys” 68W is extremely competitive and not always what people are expecting, or what it’s made out to be. A lot of times there isn’t a lot going on meaning you can get put in a bad spot and get in a depressed state for a bit, always ask questions don’t just stay in a position where you aren’t happy and yes sometimes it’s out of your control.. take opportunities request a line unit and be with the infantry boys don’t just assume you’ll get it.. it’s a 50/50 pray you get foxtrot don’t get into a pattern of partying and making an ass of yourself during the EMT training it’s hard and you NEED to study tons of guys get rolled back and or get dropped for not taking it seriously

We had our Doc put Infor his secondary MOS as 11B, He had to be in the Infantry for at least an yr. before he can apply for his EIB, we spent a lot of time training him and he received it, He was still a 31W, now he can go for his EMB, the physical parts were not a problem, the technical parts we were his test dummies and. He got his EMB, now we concentrated on his Air assault since he was already Airborne. Our company did everything we wanted to make sure that he was a part of our company. In our eyes he was an infantryman. If he is a combat medic assigned to an Infantry Company, he should be allowed to apply for EIB, this was in Germany in the Late 1980. Not sure about what you have to do now.

Being an infantry medic is a tough job. If you do not like hard physical excise go to a hospital and stay with the women and old nco's. Also you better do your job. While everyone else is resting you move among the grunts looing in each of their faces for a myriad of
problems'. Heat exhaustion, limping, or anything else. Also you will carry extra canteens,
socks, over the counter blister patches other tools of your trade. , Your job is to watch their health and not even an officer can over rule your decision. In return they affectionally call you "doc', allow you to sleep in the CP tent and give you first choice of canned rations. BUT, screw up and hurt one of your charges by accident or neglect or stupidity. And you might find yourself all alone in the middle of a jungle wondering where the rest of the patrol went.
