Had a guy want to sell me a truck a while back. 379 Pete and a hopper bottom. I crunched the numbers and I could swing it and be profitable. But I’m about to have my second child in three months and I have a great gig hauling fuel for pilot. And I can’t make myself give up excellent insurance and pretty decent pay to chance owning a truck in todays market. Maybe one day but not now. I deliver to Walmart D.C. in searcy Arkansas and every driver I talk to there at the DC love it at Walmart. Good luck brother take care of your son because at the end of the day he needs you more than this road does.

I don’t see how you could be an owner operator and only take home $1000 a week. Right now with the economy being as bad as it is I’m still taking 3000 or a little better Home each week after fuel costs and after the 20% I pay to be leased onto the company and after insurance and ELD, and I am home 95% of the weekends.

@@Xyecoc77777 I honestly believe that you have not idea of what means to be a business owner .
You have not idea of the real meaning of being an owner operator .
The problem with you guys is that, your brain put limits on what you can do as a business owner. You guys are very closed minded and you guys are not humble enough to ask questions . You rather denied that you are ignorant and you continue thinking that you are smart .
This may help you to understand , hopefully.
I’m an independent owner operator since 2014.
I run an average of 50k -70k miles per year .
I run when I get paid my rate ( I don’t give a f about the stupidly believe of market ) broker paid I run .
I decide when to run !! My DECISION!!
I DECIDE WHERE TO RUN . I look for my own loads .
It is my business , it is my call to run or stop my truck at anytime I feel like it .
In January I run only less than 5500 miles . In February I run less than 3k miles .
My reefer is paid off , my truck is paid off .
The problem here is that most of you guys have employees mentality. Sheep mentality , follower mentality .

home inspections for people purchasing homes? I remember paying the company $400 to inspect my home 9 years ago. You would have to do a whole lot of inspections if that was the case, obviously the company got $400 and the actual inspector got whatever it is they make off of it. What am I missing here?
