Thank you for posting this video - VERY helpful! I found it while researching RUclips for info on the best camera or webcam for my crafting tutorial channel! You mentioned specific recommendations for cameras but do you have any recommendations for webcams? I need something that will allow me to set it up over a table vs front facing and something that will allow me to zoom in as close as possible when I need to show details. Thank you in advance! :)
Hey! Glad the video was helpful! Sounds like you're looking for a top down camera? Most webcams use digital zoom, which means the quality degrades as you "zoom" in (since it's not really zooming, but rather just cropping in further). That being said, most phones are now able to at as webcams, so it could be a good place to start. If your phone has more than one lens, one of them is probably a telephoto, which would be really helpful for those fine details. If you want to take things further, a dedicated camera with an optical zoom is the way to go. Something like the Sony ZV1 can be a good place to start (I have one that I use quite often for top down shots). Good luck!
Thank you so much from a new Subscriber! You answered so many of my questions. "Buy once, cry once" certainly applies to me as I just purchased (and will be returning) the Razer Ultra Pro webcam, when I learned that the software to manage it wasn't compatible with Mac OS, and apparently Razer has no plans to change this, despite hundreds of customer complaints. So a Sony dedicated camera it is!
I’m trying to start RUclips again, so this was very helpful, thank you!
You're so welcome!

@tombuck Thank you! I bought one of the AI cams already but I can still use my cell for the detailed close up videos!
Glad you two connected!
