    Couldn’t you just use the Kupo to tripod plate adapter (minus the tightening knob) directly into the junior receiver? That would remove the need for the junior pin to baby pin adapter and create less potential wobble points.
    Just sayin’/asking.

      That iFootage quick release system is super slick! Is that what you use to mount your mics on the wall too? I’ve been using the similarly “pro” priced, but bulkier Triad Orbit quick release adapters, which don’t include the nifty locator pins.
      I also found a couple of the Manfrotto pistol grip rolling stands on Facebook marketplace for unbelievably cheap. I remove the top piece to get the same “low boy” height, and I can slide multiple pistol grips to hold various elements of my setups, including lights and a laptop tray when I want.
      I need to do a video of my latest setup…

Although it costed a lot, but I'm excited for the orders to arrive and finally put everything together. One thing that I'm not sure if you're considered, especially because you use Elgato teleprompter, is to have a support for the lens. My lens (Tamron 28-75mm f2.8) is longer and I got the SMALLRIG 15mm Long Lens Support Bracket. I've also got the Manfrotto 502 Fluid instead of the one you use mainly because of the price. But to be honest, 502 seems sturdy enough. Anyway, thanks again 🙏

I currently use a short stand that sits on my desk, but that also really limits which lens I can use in my GH5 because of the relatively short distance. I am going to have to check that out. I don't have much to be honest. Most of it is the carpet and objects in the room, but I've experimented with a lot of different things and what I've kind of landed on for the past few years has been:
      •Sound blanket covering window. It's behind the paper backdrop. I never use the window, so I covered it with a sound blanket to block out sound and light and then hung the backdrop in front of it.
      •I have a 2' x 4' sound panel from Acoustimac.com on the wall that I face (it's actually on a closet door so I can slide it around a bit).

    How have you gotten the Elgato Prompter's ring mount to work with your lens? According to the Elgato manual, the ring mount isn't compatible with motorized lenses. When I try it with my Canon EOS R (and Canon lenses), I immediately get a lens error as soon as the lens tries to move with the prompter hanging off of it. I've tried with several Canon lenses. It seems you're not having this problem, though. Any ideas?

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  10 месяцев назад +2

      It depends on the lens- if the ens has internal focusing it's no problem, but if the end of the lens rotates when it focuses, then it's an issue. Fortunately my Sony lens is all internal.

      @pretzelcoatl 10 месяцев назад

    Hello, I know you can’t always reply to technical queries, but I would like to know why you highly recommend the Manfrotto fluid video head. There are many people on Amazon that have given it one star reviews, asserting that it’s cheap and has broken on them after limited use. I’m no expert, I’m just a newbie seeking to purchase the right setup.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  5 месяцев назад

      Hmm, that's interesting. I've used many many Manfrotto heads since 2011 and have never had one break, so they're just kind of always my top choice. I like the mounting plate too because it's so secure.
      I do have a few iFootage heads that take Manfrotto style plates, and I like those quite a bit. But for anything heavy duty I've just always gone with Manfrotto 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  10 месяцев назад +1

      I think that's a tricky one. I definitely get it- but at least for now, having the whole thing run via one simple cable is fantastic. I don't think a tablet could power the prompter, so they would then need a separate power supply, which in my experience is always annoying.
      Although...now that I think about it, having a second USB C port just for optional power could be neat. It's there if you want it, but not required.

    @TomBuck I want to duplicate this setup with one change: I need a longer boom arm for mic as I’ll be using this standing up at a greater distance from camera. However, I’m struggling to figure out what connectors I need for the boom. Any advice/guidance? (I’m happy to purchase all with your affiliate links if that would help…I’ll even buy you a cup of coffee…I just need help). 🙌🏻

    Enjoyed the video. Missing, however, is how you are able to both use the external monitor (via hdmi port out of the FX3) and yet still 'stream' (for example using Ecamm Live -- as you've taken the only hdmi port out from the FX3 for the external monitor).

    Hello,
    I am looking for speakers that support the Focusrite Vocaster Two USB-C. I have a very important question: do I need the Focusrite Vocaster Two, or can I buy the first one?
    I wanted to share with you the equipment I am using for my RUclips channel and the items I'm planning to purchase. I started with an iPhone 11, then upgraded to the S24 and later to the Canon T100. However, the camera broke, so I switched to the Canon 50 Mark 2, which is what I'm currently using. My friend bought a cable, the XLR, and now I need to purchase the Focusrite Vocaster Two USB-C, followed by the Elgato Stream Deck Mini. The Stream Deck Mini helps me control Zoom, Teams, PowerPoint, MS Office, and more. It's compatible with both Mac and PC and makes setting up shortcuts easy.
    I would appreciate your thoughts on these items. Additionally, I just wanted to mention that I find your videos really entertaining, and even though I start coughing because I have asthma, I can't help but laugh out loud. I admire your work, and while I'm currently focused on gaming content, I aspire to create videos like yours in the future. Thank you for the advice, and have a great day. I'm a regular viewer of your videos and your live streams.

      I usually do a little bit in Final Cut but the natural sound of the Sennheiser gets me like 95% there. 👍

    The only thing that would make me nervous is that 3/8 thread on the kupo adapter whether it can hold all that weight on top of it and not break.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  10 месяцев назад +1

      It doesn’t seem any different than any normal tripod base, so I wouldn’t worry. Kupo is a pretty standard name when it comes to grip gear and have been making this stuff for a loooooong time.

    Would you still recommend that Manfrotto head for smaller cameras I.e. FX 30? Does someone make a smaller version?

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  10 месяцев назад +2

      The FX30 is the same size as my FX3, so I would. The Manfrotto 501 is also a good option, it's a little smaller and cheaper but still has some additional mounting points. The 504 has just been absolutely phenomenal for me though, and I love never having to worry about it being able to support anything.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yep. I mainly use bullet points for my videos, so I just had the Notes app open on a monitor next to the camera, but the Prompter makes it much easier to keep my place, which speeds up the whole process. It's also absolutely incredible for video calls!

      @@tombuck One more thing if I could ask Tom. I also use FX3 for main camera. But I did not do RUclips I only use it for Zoom meeting. I been having a problem of how to get the picture and the sound synced. It is a delay with my mount and the sound when see in Zoom but it looks totally ok on Camera or on the switcher’s screen. But people watching from computers see the delay. I think it might be about the setting on camera like the frame rate or something. Yet I still can not fix it. Well, There's something I want to share about.
    I made a low cast camcorder rig that I ever made, It's really simple. I have a mini wireless mic set (Comica Boom X-D2 here in this case) and I have an idea that I'm going to put it on an elastic band on the battery. (An InfoLitihum V battery)
    How I did it? Well, It's simple. I put an elastic band on a camcorder battery and clipped a wireless receiver onto the elastic band and that's it, I can control an audio gain from there and I even got 2 audio monitor jacks. (From both my camcorder for more accurate playback and a wireless receiver's monitor audio jack for a real time audio playback. 😁)
    The mics are, Well. I could either choose one for a lav mic or a boom mic. (It depends on a setup, I can't really tell)
    There's a video on my RUclips Channel that I’ve covered about so you can go check that out if you want. =)
