I love how simplistic your videos are. Growing a youtube channel is NOT an easy task and I truly appreciate any and all the help I can get and for that I thank you. It has been a struggle at times and recently I have felt deflated at the lack of growth. I considered concentrating solely on creating art rather than art and producing videos but this video has given me the motivation to keep going. Thank you Gillian, I really appreciate these encouraging words

I just hit 1,000 subscribers today! Thanks for all the info you provide--I've been following you since you had about 50K. 🙌 A paycheck in the first 3-6 months seems quite optimistic to me! From my peers I've been watching, it seems to take at least that long to get to 1,000, then even longer to get the 4,000 hours watch time. I've been posting weekly for 10 months & hope to be monetized soon. ✨

I love your story. Awesome. You never give up. New RUclipsrs are usually confused because of money. They want to earn now. They don’t want to wait years. However, the level of competition in any directions is huge. There is no space for quick results because you can’t create smth unique and valuable than we have today in a short period of time.

  • @LesterDiaz

This past month I shifted my focus a little and I am now starting to get better views and subscribers but at the rate I am going I think it will be much longer than a year before I see any income from them. The biggest value I am getting from doing them is that I am learning something new and I am enjoying doing them. GD

Thanks for sharing this information. In my case, I have started to see some growth on my Classical Guitar Music channel after 3 months but I do believe it will take me a little longer to start making money off of youtube since now the rules are that in order to monetize your videos, you need at least 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of accumulated watch time on all your videos together. I have completed 25% of the goal so far. Let's see how it goes after a year. Good Luck Gillian and thanks for this video.

Hi Gillian, I found your channel recently and have been following you, as you make a lot of sense to a newbie content creator like me. I know in this video you mention about asking you to take a look at a channel and given opinion. Well if you find time at some point I would be eternally grateful for you're insight. I am a fine wildlife and landscape artist with over 35 years as a professional. I opened a youtube channel around 8 years ago, but did little to it. Now I know that there are heaps of artists doing this out there, so can the world stand for yet another. Well I do hope so, because I am not going away.
In late june with 81 subs I began to create tutorials each week, without fail so far. The subs climb slowly now unto 490 . Views worry me as its normally under 250 or less around 150. I keep trying different things, ways of filming etc, duration of lessons and time lapse over real time etc etc. I try hard with the thumbnail, but like all of this it is a learning curve, and i am a quick study.
I also watch so much content such as yours inorder to learn, and I also know that this growth for most is slow, yet know others in UK and US has artists now number in the 100s of thousands of subs inside two years.Gillian so sorry for the length of this comment, please forgive me.
    Kindest best wishes to you

Wow! You made money fast! I've been "doing RUclips" for 6 months and have just over 500 subs & 1,200 hours watchtime. (Bi-weekly vids).

WOW! I just stumbled across this video and your channel. I appreciate your honesty on how much you make and how long it has taken. I've been at this for just over 2 years and am still not monetized. It can be so frustrating because I feel like I have good content and appealing thumbnails. I do tons of research keywords that I could potentially get tracking with, but it is a slow moving train. If I didn't love making videos so much, I would have quit long ago. I look forward to watching more of your videos to hopefully one day be monetized!

RUclips pays me nothing at the moment but I am the happiest receiving testimonials from people acting on my strategies...Being a workaholic myself.. making RUclips videos has been the most valuable escape

This was reassuring, we have just started our vlogs and think we have made fairly good content so far. Just we literally have no social media presence so it's just a means of being patient. Sticking to the basics 🙏

DSD it's normal to feel stuck. I have been on this platform for 4years i also feel stuck every other day.but what keeps me going is why i started in the first place. Just keep on creating content you love and you think your audience will find value in.
