You know, I'm an LAFC fan so I'm not the biggest fan of Seattle and with all honesty I was salty that they were the first MLS team to win CCL. But this video actually made me appreciate their win and what it means for MLS. Thanks for that.

As a Sounders Supporter you did a very good job telling our story. I was at the final so I have no clue what it was like watching on tv, but at the game? Omg. The only way I can explain it is glorious insanity, and that doesn't even come close lol. You were still celebrating the 2nd goal? We already knew we'd won lmao. Couldn't even hear Pumas fans anymore.
Watching this again as we get ready to celebrate our championship win in a few days (at our match vs Portland ofc) and omg the feels lol. Felt like I was experiencing it all over again.

Seattle Sounders (as much as I hate admitting it) are THE model franchise in MLS. It’s only fitting they would be the 1st to win the CCL

The whole time they were down 2-0 against Pumas I was thinking about when they were down 2-0 against Minnesota in the 2020 WCF, and came back to win in full time, only to lose MLS cup, 3-0. Knowing what it was like to come back from 2 goals down and win, only to lose the next game and the tournamant shaped them for this moment. And sure enough, this time they won the tournament essentially by the same score of 3-0. It was so sad losing MLS to Columbus like that, it felt redeeming to win CCL roughly 18 months later under such similar circumstances.
A video about MLS teams at FIFA World Cup Clubs would be interesting. Seattle will be the first MLS team in the competition, LA Galaxy could have been the first MLS team to play in the World Cup, but in 2001 the competition was cancelled.

And history may be repeating itself, because FIFA has admitted that they have no real idea when the 2022 Club World Cup will happen, if at all.

MLS Fans would rather deal with Seattle Fans than Liga MX Fans in order to win.
Pumas was a tough team coming in to the final, but this team that was far from the successful years in the 80s and that they weren’t a team that was like a Club America or Tigres, so this was really a great opportunity for the Sounders to win this Champions League this year and that Seattle was more healthy coming into the final in contrast to the other four MLS teams that reached the final.
I am gonna miss this series. I am so happy for Seattle even if I support the Fire. They ended the meme.
Who knows MLS in CCL could still continue if an MLS team would win or at least reach the final

Love your videos as always, but just wanted to mention that Yankee Stadium and Citi Field aren't approved for CCL because of advertiser obligations, not pitch dimensions. CONCACAF requires full autonomy for advertisements around the pitch, and that's impossible to accommodate at the stadiums because there are some permanent ad fixtures in both stadiums. The minimum dimensions for any Concacaf event is 100m x 64m, which is where Yankee Stadium sits.
There was confusion within the NYCFC fanbase about it as well, since there was never a clear reason given by the club or CONCACAF as to WHY it wasn't approved, but that's what it ended up being.
Happy for Seattle as an American, would have loved to be the first but I'll take winning it next season and getting to the Club World Cup before Man City, doesn't matter if we're first from the MLS :p

@@wolffriendinus lol I was never cold! The Rainiers helped to see to that. I was def feeling better after the second goal but it’s concacaf…anything could have happened.

A small point of order (a year later, I know)...in the 2021 playoffs, RSL not only didn't get a shot on goal, they didn't even TAKE A SHOT.

Great to see this series come to its closure. I rooted for both canadian teams to win it because of my dislike of both chivas and America. As a quakes/Cruz azul fan I had no horse on this race, I didn’t want either team to win. But I’m happy with the turn out. MLS finally go what they have been seeking for over a decade, and I got to see Pumas publicity humiliate the entire Liga MX side. This was a great final. And as my Mexican family started asking me about NYCFC & Seattle during the semi finals, I told them NYCFC is a good team with good players but they are the new kids on the block, Seattle has walked this path several times and they have one of the most consistent teams in the MLS. They though I was joking when I said that In the case of Cruz azul not making the final, the team most likely to win it was Seattle.
As a Sounders fan I was soooo happy Cruz Azul lost. I'll admit, I don't think we'd have won vs them.
Hollywood should make a movie about Sounders ending MLS curse in the CCL!

Sounders fan here. It's not like the referees didn't use VAR to review the penalty for Pumas but they did to review the penalty kick because CONCACAF. We should stop using that excuse. Quite simply, the fact that Frei was off his line was clear and obvious, whereas Arreaga's challenge was 50-50 at best. Same for Seattle's second penalty: Roldan might have been looking for a contact, but got kicked in the chest and to me that one was an obvious foul.
All in all I think the final series was very well refereed, and the ref showed great character in giving away 3 PKs in the first leg of a continental final, especially with two being awarded to the away team. IMHO all 3 penalty calls were correct, and I think we should give the refs some credits sometimes, instead of perennial criticism.

As did TFC, coming off their historic Treble...and LAFC after their first final. LAFC have also been a bit shaky since making the final this year (remember when they had all of those games in hand?). It's pretty clear that making it to a CCL final takes a LOT out of an MLS club that's in early-season fitness.
@@rockinmel1 CCL hangover is real. Just ask 2017 FC Dallas and 2019 Sporting Kansas City. Both of their seasons fell apart after their respective CCL runs, and they didn't even make the Final.
