    That 2022 MLS Cup had everything. The 3252 with that Gogeta Tifo set the stage for the insanity. The back & forth between those two really had me going and this was two weeks before the World Cup! I remember Stu Holden talking the Union are four minutes away from being Champions and then Rob Stone with the "BALEEEEEEEEEE" scream had me speechless.

    Great job young man. Very entertaining, great commentary. I do have to remind you of a game better than MLS Cup 2022. SJE’s 2003 second leg come-from-four-goals-behind-in-the-second-half!!!! Against the Gals. I say that as one who was not following the league in 2005, and am not a SJE partisan. But dude - comeback from a 0-4 deficit? In the playoffs? In a derby-rivalry? Neither own-goals or penalties add to the greatness off a game.

    IIRC, there's a few more details on the SKC-RSL final. Wasn't it also one of the coldest MLS games ever? I remember being cold just watching the match. And these teams didn't like each other to the point were a brawl broke out in a preseason match.

    • @ktasay
      @ktasay 9 месяцев назад +1

      This was near the height of the RSL-SKC rivalry. The pitch was frozen solid which made the ball do weird things, Collen should have been sent off with a 2nd yellow, and finally when Palmer took his PK the ball moved on his approach which likely contributed to his miss, should have been re-taken, but with no VAR the refs let it go.

Hit home for sure lol such a tough decade to be a fan especially after being used to having such great teams or atleast a team we knew found and would always compete out there . My favorite players were Justin Mapp and Chris Rolfe .. both severely underrated in my opinion and should have received more at Erik for the USMNT. So much fun growing up watching the fire . Man how times have changed … love this channel man great content keep the videos coming brother !

    Thanks for the memories! That 2015 final...it is no surprise that the moment of those playoffs that Timbers fans hold over all else - even more than any moment in that final - is an opponent (not even a star, like LD skying his shot in 2009) missing a penalty in the shootout in the FIRST playoff round. Seriously. They even named a stadium bar after it. It didn't even decide the shootout - it was just a funny moment. Also, I find it amusing that Bale's MLS Cup goal just washed away all of the abject disappointment that was the rest of his LAFC season, and thanks for the reminder that Jimmy Nielsen could look downright incompetent at times (he could make easy saves look massively difficult, which won him a GKoY, and I still remember the great save he made on an attempted chip while outside his box).

    From a Crew fan who was in the stands for 2015...it's interesting to hear a neutral opinion. It felt like there was no chance for the Crew, even after Kamara scored. Caleb Porter vs Gregg Berhalter. In hindsight, it went how you'd assume. Whoever went up would bunker, and the other would have trouble moving the bus.

      I fucking was in a funk that I thought would never be equaled after that goddamned out-of-bounds goal and that quitter Tony Tchani arguing the call rather than playing to the whistle. Not his first time doing that, either. Possibly the only player dumb enough to get a second yellow for celebrating a goal by taking his jersey off.
      Then that tweet came out and my world got pulled out from under me, at a time that it was already in the dumps. But that also led to one of the most joyous moments too, at Endeavour for the announcement of the saving. That was so damn epic.

    2:18 I would throw some bonus points to 2015 for storyline because the playoffs road for both teams. Because you had Columbus come back from a 2-1 aggregate defecit where Kei Kamara scored the winner in 2nd half of extra time, before taking down the Supporters Shield winners in NY Red Bulls. And then Portland, well they had that chaotic penalty shootout with Sporting KC that included one of the most insane “how the fuck did that not go in” PKs.

    DannytRadio, I think there’s a problem with current MLS markets having more money than old MLS markets well of course the current MLS markets had teams like LA FC NYCFC , Atlanta United, Charlotte FC, Nashville SC, Cincinnati FC, Philly, Inter Miami had to pay a lot more money in the growing rate of expansion, but it seems like those markets have more money to invest in player development, and to be at the top of the table in both East and West whereas the founding markets like DC United, NE, Chicago, Houston, LAG, Sporting Kansas City, FC Dallas, to name a few have less of the resources to help them compete talent wise in MLS and it seems like the teams who expanded in the current times are more likely to be competitive, unless you count Seattle and the New York Red Bulls as long time existing teams who can still compete

    • @eboethrasher
      @eboethrasher 8 месяцев назад

      LOL @ Seattle as a long-time existing team. They were another team whose fans think they hit a home run but were actually born on third base. Our teams walked so those teams could run. We existed through all the lean times, when there were 10 teams in the league, or even less after contraction. We burnt through fans in the lean years, exhausted the fan base, while they got to come in with the league being huge. Example, Atlanta. The Silverbacks were drawing less than 5000 fans less than 5 years before the 5 stripes started playing. The bandwagon effect is real.

    2015 sure as fuck isn't gonna be in the top 10.
    2008 was the cherry on the top of a dominating season. SS champs, MLS Cup champs. Yeah, it was lame that it was against another Eastern Conference team, but frankly, maybe the West should not have had a record season of suckage. As Crew fans, we are conditioned to expect losing. In 2008, it was FUCKING MAGIC. We just knew we were gonna win. And after we PUNISHED AND EMBARASSED both of our former players y'all had starting in the ECF with that Marshall header, that beautiful picture of him rising above McBride the traitor (love the guy, talked to him around the time of Save The Crew and he knew it was bantz) and Busch just being frozen in his tracks (especially poetic because Busch used to be a total DICK to Marshall), we knew we were unstoppable. We felt that way all season. And going back to the team's hotel after the match and celebrating with them in the ballroom until like 11pm, it was literally the best day of my life and I've been married twice. Drinking from that cup when it was the brand new cup, they didn't even have a replica yet so we all drank form the actual legit cup haha. 2020 was a low point because I am overweight and I was 48 so I didn't want to risk it, and I kick myself because I was there in 2015 to see the loss, and I missed the win in Crew Stadium, so I never saw us win one at home. Fingers crossed that we go down to Cincy and own them on Saturday so we get another shot at glory at home in the new stadium, even if I would rather have it at the old one, too many good memories there.
    Other memorable ones were the 06 and 07 Cups (I had started following the league seriously at that time), seeing the Revs suffer back to back. Reis is a great, hilarious dude, but they could not get it together. I also remember watching Donovan sky that PK and laughing my balls off.

    2022 was one of the first game that made me cry tears of joys. As someone who used to work at the Banc of California Stadium and see LAFC get announced to winning it all was an overwhelming love of emotions. The only regret was not being there live since I had moved out of LA
