    Funny that Donovan suggested it to John and George but didn't do it to his guitars?

    I took the finish off my 1997 Korean casino years ago. That poly is some tough s--t!

      Nice!! I was thinking about getting an Epiphone next if I can find one cheap enough & strip it!

    And here I am trying to work up the courage to polish a semi-gloss finish onto my satin WM-45 😂

    Wow, gotta say never knew you could remove the clear coat from the natural guitars. Looks absolutely stunning Paul! Did a fantastic job with getting the clear coat and really highlights the natural/stripped down look of it.

    I do like the satin look. That said, if I wanted satin or flat, I would probably have it refinished in satin or flat. Completely removing the finish can be very risky over time. The finish does more than give a look, it protects the wood. Without any finish, the wood will now be way more susceptible to environmental changes, soaking up humidity and drying out more quickly.

    I’m wondering if I can do this with a polyurethane finish? Eventually would like to try it on a Ej160e.

      Thanks Perry!
      For now I just used two tiny pieces of double sided tape to keep it up. But I’m itching to get a new one made!

    Did you use some kind of sandpaper or just your finger?
    your guitar its most beutiful

    • @guitargearconnection
      @guitargearconnection  2 месяца назад

      Just a single finger with light acetone & rag for tight areas. Larger open areas I would just fold the rag up and rub away!

    I know Lennon had a thin coat of varnish on his Casino. He had nothing on the Gibson?

    • @guitargearconnection
      @guitargearconnection  2 месяца назад

      I always thought he had something on the Casino too. But it was posted in the FB Beatles Gear group & it appears the Casino had nothing at all on it & just bare wood!
