    4:09 I don't think that was a mistake per se. Sure the first batch of 1996s shipped to Rose-Morris had the 2 o' clock position f-hole, but the ones that came after had the 1 o' clock position.
    John Fogerty from CCR has a 1968 one with the f-hole in the 1 o' clock position which he bought in the first week of 1969, he put a bigsby, bowtie bridge (just like Lennon with this V81), grover tuners and a PAF pickup in the bridge position. Before it he had a 325 jetglo

    All Ricks pre 2009 I believe used a conversion varnish that would do weird things, especially in humid conditions, just like your 75th model. I have a 1999 360-12 V64 and it did the same thing yours did. The fingerprints and the smudgy feel. I sent it to a Rick specialist luthier who had to take it apart and wet sand it. The problem went away and remained stable especially after being stored in air conditioned spaces.

    I had no particular need to retain authenticity, so I put lighter strings on my 1991 325. Rather than mess with the Rickenbacker truss rod, I just tuned it up to A Standard and retained the right intonation. I called it my Frank Zappa guitar and tried to learn to do that circular motion hitherto unknown..
    What I need is a UL7120, but they were surely all snatched up by you collectors. I just want the power, maybe just tap a D.I. off of the back of one of my little ULs and run into a Hiwatt. 🤔

    Nice collection, all examples are in really great condition. My collection isn’t quite so exacting. I have two German Hofner 500 basses but both of mine are Clubs, one has the Cavern spacing and the other is 64 specs. My Casino is a Coupe that has had most of the parts changed. Another of my basses is a 67 Gibson EB-2c and not a Rivoli. My Rosewood(ish) Tele had a Padauk body that made the guitar weigh 13lbs, I changed out the body so it has zero Harrison resemblence. I have a similar LPjr (madison square garden) that has a Lollar CC pickup, mine has a Bigsby too. My 1996 J-160e which I use in a bluegrass band has the Montana specs, solid woods and X bracing. The closest exact example I own is a Harrison Gretsch Duo Jet.
    You see I can get the sounds but certainly not the looks. I often use a Mkii Vox AC-50 too. I build and repair amps so I have lots of amps to choose from.
    I love to collect nice tube mics. I have three AKG C28b tube mics with two short extensions (Get Back mic)and an AKG C60 which was the Sullivan show mic, sadly I can’t find a wind gag ball.

I've got the modern AC10 and it's great but the vintage one would be crazy cool. I've got two modern AC30's as well but my holy grail is a vintage AC30. They are so absolutely glorious. I don’t know what it was about Rickenbacker 6 and 12 string electric guitars but they look great, sound great, but for some odd reason to me the playability of them wasn’t the best. I played one 6 string about 30 years ago, and it didn’t take me long to put it down. I chalked up that experience to it quite possibly not being set up very well. Recently, I played another one and I still didn’t like the way it felt. Don’t know why, I guess it was just me.

    • @guitargearconnection
      @guitargearconnection  2 месяца назад

      The Epiphones sound like a traditional acoustic. Just a very bland, common sound. Nothing unique about it. The Gibson’s, and primarily the adjustable bridge ones, have such a cool distinct Beatles sound. Might not be for everyone, but I love it.
      As for playability, Gibson hands down wins. The feel of the neck, the larger frets, the colorings, so many different aspects. Don’t get me wrong I do love the Epiphones, but the Gibson is just better in every way.

    • @nickdryad
      @nickdryad 2 месяца назад

      The grain pattern looks more like maple and spruce is generally too soft for an instruments back. I’ve never come across a spruce back on a guitar and violins always employ a hard wood for back because of the strain and the sound post. I’m not saying it couldn’t possibly spruce but it seems unusual.

    • @nickdryad
      @nickdryad 2 месяца назад

      I know sometimes mail order guitars used what ever wood was available in a factory situation especially if there were supply issues. By the way. I lived your guided tour of Beatles guitars.
