Caleb, As a long time Nashville musician and producer I am always glad to see the Nashville Number System being taught and promoted. You have done a fine video and I know it took a lot of work. There are many videos on the NNS online, Unfortunately most of them are incorrect when they use the scale 1,2m,3m,4,5,6m,7dim. This is a widespread misconception about the NNS taught by music theory gurus who really don't understand the NNS. All the chords in the NNS are MAJOR. There are no automatic minor chords in the NNS. A minor must be indicated as 6m or 6-. A number by itself will ALWAYS be played as a basic MAJOR chord here in Nashville. You are a great musician and I sincerely hope you will research this further and get it right. Best to you!
Hey Caleb - good stuff man. Appreciate ya. Can I make one recommendation to make your audio awesome? Get a DJI Bluetooth Mic to make your audio super crisp and noiseless. That’ll cut out all the ambient noise between you and your video recording device.
Thanks for the tip! I obviously have no clue what I’m doing and need all the help I can get! I’m out of town for a few weeks but when I get back to Texas I have a production team setting everything up for better quality content.
Hello from Seattle ....I love scales... Never heard nashville numbering but numbers are good for me to get better at progressions. I never thought about that before would take getting used to but its seven letters should work out
Very well explained. The 3 and 7 have lots of variables. To me flatting the 3 as a transition from 1 to 4 can really have a nice sound. Also it seems that I am more inclined to use a flat 7 in a transition. Merle Haggards the way I am comes to mind on the 7. Don't get above your raisin' Ricky Skaggs for flat 3 goodness. Good luck on the Elk. I decided to not go this year. I am already regretting with all my buddy's shooting me text.
Just subscribed..... great breakdown. When the mood takes you can you please do some fast slick country rhythm playing styles not just on one chord but over a progression or full song ? That's something I find I'm lacking.... solid base to play from.
Good video. One thing I never understood is how is the Nashville Number System any different from the Roman Numerals for the same chords. Isn't it just saying "1, 4, 5" instead of "I, IV, V."
I don't know it sounds like a lot of I don't understand theory stuff... But Hank Williams only played three chords... So if I can't hear something in three chords there's no sense of putting no lead to it... No matter how good of a player you are.. and I'm looking at it as an original writer to you know what I mean.. 3 chords out the door ZZ top

Totally agree! My first thought was he needs a wireless lapel mic or his recording device needs to be much closer. Too much echo in the room.
Great job Caleb! I love your method for teaching!
Fabulous explanation thank you Caleb and good luck with your channel from UK
Glad you enjoyed it!

Of course! Thanks for subscribing! I will be out of town the next couple of weeks but when I return, I’m gonna start cranking some videos out.

I think that B might actually be a half diminished.
11:35. Aren't those number columns upside down? You are playing notes that go up but the numbers go down. Confusing to me.

Pure gibberish. This is just the chords in the diatonic scale. Using Roman numerals is the correct way. Hobos don’t really git that though……
Good lesson, thanks. I would appreciate your using a better vocal recorder system though…
Thanks! Sorry it’s pretty bad! I am getting help from a production team and my future content will be much better!
@@CalebGuitar Definitely need a better vocal mic arrangement. I almost stop listening because it was so shrill. Glad I didn't! Good stuff!
