Hi Caleb, happy new year to you from Australia 😊. I hope everything is going well with you. Are you going to continue with your lessons , I've really enjoyed your channel and am looking forward to more content . I hope I see you posting again soon, cheers Scott
Hello and happy new year! Yes I going to start posting in a few weeks. I had to put the channel on pause for a bit because life was so hectic but I should start posting soon! Thanks for watching!
One I was playing with that maybe you would like to do is orienting yourself with more of those flip ups. Like go through them for the subscribers. I was trying on G chord shape octave (low a on E string) different than the other 2 that are the same as each other cause of the B string tuning and look at those intervals for instance your major seventh below is your half fret down where as up its one up from your flat seven up... if that makes sense what I mean. Maybe good to go through them all. Well I find it fun anyway! Only one thats the same on both sides is your flat five up and down! Country guitar is fascinating as the sound is so unique. Definitely those ghost notes really change things
Caleb, As a long time Nashville musician and producer I am always glad to see the Nashville Number System being taught and promoted. You have done a fine video and I know it took a lot of work. There are many videos on the NNS online, Unfortunately most of them are incorrect when they use the scale 1,2m,3m,4,5,6m,7dim. This is a widespread misconception about the NNS taught by music theory gurus who really don't understand the NNS. All the chords in the NNS are MAJOR. There are no automatic minor chords in the NNS. A minor must be indicated as 6m or 6-. A number by itself will ALWAYS be played as a basic MAJOR chord here in Nashville. You are a great musician and I sincerely hope you will research this further and get it right. Best to you!
Thanks so much as I've learned a couple things (suspension from D string). Your production has already improved and I know more is planned. Thanks for taking the time to shoot and edit these. There are only so many hours in a day!
Excellent tone! Can you give us a rig rundown? I love it!
Please keep the lessons coming. I think you are one of the best teachers I’ve followed
Please talk about your tone ,amp and guitar setting. Great sound and really good lesson,.thanks.
Cool lesson, All My ex's live in Texas
These have been great lessons.
Enjoyed! Cheers 🍻
Looking forward to more great Country from you!
Thanks for sharing Caleb.🐨
Its good stuff, need a new video lesson.
Boston rock player wants in!
I think that B might actually be a half diminished.
Great stuff.
Pure gibberish. This is just the chords in the diatonic scale. Using Roman numerals is the correct way. Hobos don’t really git that though……
Good stuff man! I’m in ! Gotta get the basics down!
I don't know it sounds like a lot of I don't understand theory stuff... But Hank Williams only played three chords... So if I can't hear something in three chords there's no sense of putting no lead to it... No matter how good of a player you are.. and I'm looking at it as an original writer to you know what I mean.. 3 chords out the door ZZ top
Good video. One thing I never understood is how is the Nashville Number System any different from the Roman Numerals for the same chords. Isn't it just saying "1, 4, 5" instead of "I, IV, V."
11:35. Aren't those number columns upside down? You are playing notes that go up but the numbers go down. Confusing to me.
I'm with you: Knowing the "why" is so very satisfying. Looking forward to any future tabs and tips ...well done!
I hope to hear about ghost notes giving the buk buk bacaw chicken pickin sounds. The different ways to mute em and the times to add the muted notes.
Love the instruction
Just found your channel… good stuff man.. need to practice more basics , any suggestions
thank you for the brake down iv stroggled with my guitar for 40 yr so glad to get some help from some one . thank you so much ....
Just found your channel. Digging it man. I love the camera angles on both hands. Very helpful. Been playing 30 years and still learning. Keep em coming brother!
I am 61. I used to play in bands years ago. I’m retired now, so I just got a new telecaster so I am re-learning. I used to play what is now classic rock and 80’s country. Are you using your fingernails?
Just stumbled onto your channel. Awesome lesson! Subscribed and looking forward to future releases. Keep it up!!!! 👍👍👍
Nothing here I didn't know 40 years ago. Unless you're a total beginner, move on.
That’s the point sir.
Then what's the point of commenting unless you have a video proving how much more advanced you are?
Hokey or not i love this stuf could use some Tab for us oldddddeeeee gen my friend
Yes sir! I’m working on getting them going! Thanks for watching!
Good lesson, thanks. I would appreciate your using a better vocal recorder system though…
Thanks! Sorry it’s pretty bad! I am getting help from a production team and my future content will be much better!
@@CalebGuitar Definitely need a better vocal mic arrangement. I almost stop listening because it was so shrill. Glad I didn't! Good stuff!
Think you are to modest sounds fantastic to me I’m from uk just found you on here thankyou
Thanks!
Thanks for the video great stuff just found you and subscribed
Thank you!
Yea I certainly haft to say, there ain’t anybody on RUclips explained chicken pickin that good. Looking forward to future videos
Thank you! Many more to come!
I had that model Tele. Man, I wish that I had never sold it.
Man I’ve been there and it sucks! That guitar is actually my first “real” guitar ever. I bought it when I was just getting started after my first guitar was stolen.
Just subscribed..... great breakdown. When the mood takes you can you please do some fast slick country rhythm playing styles not just on one chord but over a progression or full song ? That's something I find I'm lacking.... solid base to play from.
Of course! Thanks for subscribing! I will be out of town the next couple of weeks but when I return, I’m gonna start cranking some videos out.
Great content and pro tips. Thanks for explaining in such a detailed and usable way.
Glad you are enjoying!
Hey Caleb - good stuff man. Appreciate ya. Can I make one recommendation to make your audio awesome? Get a DJI Bluetooth Mic to make your audio super crisp and noiseless. That’ll cut out all the ambient noise between you and your video recording device.
Thanks for the tip! I obviously have no clue what I’m doing and need all the help I can get! I’m out of town for a few weeks but when I get back to Texas I have a production team setting everything up for better quality content.
Totally agree! My first thought was he needs a wireless lapel mic or his recording device needs to be much closer. Too much echo in the room.
Great job Caleb! I love your method for teaching!
It seemed to have too much reverb, no slap-back delay, no compression, and it didn't have that "Chicken Pickin" sound I expect to hear from a Telecaster.
Yea I agree the tone was off for sure. I’m new to this video recording thing and I don’t have my guitar running into the computer so the only sound is getting picked up by the camera. Crazy thing is I have is very compressed, quite a bit of slap back and very little reverb but you certainly don’t hear that in the video. I’m learning as quickly as I can to put out better content. Thanks for the feedback and good luck on your journey!
@@CalebGuitar Thank you for your reply.
That Gallagher guitar is killing it! Made right here, in middle Tennessee #615boys #Nashvillelovesyou
You seriously just made my day with this! It’s a very special guitar to me and it sounds incredible. Thanks for watching!
😊OK. I’m all in. I love those neck camera shots. I know that’s not easy. But it kinda brings it home. I like that twang! Thanks!
Heck yea! Thanks so much!
Nice man.. doing a good job.
Thank you so much 😀
Glad I found your channel, great stuff! Thanks
Glad you enjoy it!
My key to good tone is an Esquire straight into one of my amps. I am running my amp hot so it is in a natural overdrive. I roll back the volume for clean. I run a left handed bridge on all of my guitars with A Rio Grande Muy Grande Tele bridge pickup. To me if you want snappy gnarly Tele goodness without the ice pick highs. A reverse angle on that bridge pickup goes along way.
Nice!!
You are not a beginner, you got the like and subscribe, and stay to the end into the first 20 seconds. Great lesson, thank you from Ireland
Thank you and welcome!
Very well explained. The 3 and 7 have lots of variables. To me flatting the 3 as a transition from 1 to 4 can really have a nice sound. Also it seems that I am more inclined to use a flat 7 in a transition. Merle Haggards the way I am comes to mind on the 7. Don't get above your raisin' Ricky Skaggs for flat 3 goodness. Good luck on the Elk. I decided to not go this year. I am already regretting with all my buddy's shooting me text.
Thank you sir!
Like the content - but you did confuse me a bit with the first riff talking about Elvis and All Shook Up. I think you meant to say Hound Dog - just for then benefit of anyone who wants to hear the riff on the record!
Thank you!
Great lesson!
Thanks! 😃
Fabulous explanation thank you Caleb and good luck with your channel from UK
Glad you enjoyed it!
