The Epic Games Store Sucks

- In this video I talk about the Epic Games Store and how it came out of nowhere in 2018 attempting to compete with the absolute behemoth that is Steam. I don't like the Epic Games Store at all and if you're familiar with PC gaming at all you probably dislike it too.

What are your thoughts on the EGS?
Postal III
Sneed.
I like the idea of developers getting more cash, but with so much functionality steam offers I can understand the big cut they take.
Didn't help that EGS was sniffing around your steam data trying to do some weird shit back then making me completely anti-epic. YongYea shed a good light on it.
Props to Epic to making an insane engine but maybe they should just stick to that instead of a butchered client.
dont care much on it except fortnite and the crazy games they give out for free, they gave out the bioshock and tomb raider trilogy one time
@@kittytank6475 Imagine taking anything Yongyea says seriously.
Epic literally gives games away for free... and still can't keep people around without them going back to Steam
Sure, because u can launch a fucking game without ads banners and everyday updates
No seriously, I have some games that I got for free through Epic and I loved them so much that I bought them through Steam shortly after. It’s just a better experience having all my games and achievements on one platform. Plus it’s easier to launch VR games on steam and play on my Steam Deck
@@virtualturtle355 i have genuine question about EGS, can it mod though? I get Fallout New Vegas in EGS for free and i love the game but i see that mod seem hard and close to impossible. Any tips?
Steam and GOG seem a great choice for me. There also Humble Bundle and Fanatical that sell Bundling Game for real cheap and also lot of discounted Steam Game (limited time). Can't wait for future me to enjoy those game.
@@jalma9643 The EGS version of the game its not mod friendly at all
I still remember when EA came crawling back to steam and poured all there games back onto it. Haven't even bought one since
Ubisoft recently did the same thing too
With Unreal Engine 5 this will change. Devs who use UE5 have to pay 5% for UE5. + Steam taking 30% = instant -35% off all sales. If you go on EGS, the DEVs dont have to pay the 5% + only pays 12% store fee. Thats 23% for left from total revenue.
@@l.3626If only the laucher was good as steam

I wanted to go to the Epic Games forum to see how users feel about it but they haven't got one
No, the funny thing is they usually come to Steam's forums to discuss Epic Games related topics, which is kind of ridiculous.
Of course it doesn't. How else could they run damage control? 😂
Can't wait for the Epic Games Store to have achievements when I'm 53 years old and too tired to play videogames anymore.
You think you’ll get tired of video games?
@@TheRealTact Who knows, might happen.
Bruh, they have achievements since 2021, I only use the platform for the free games and that's enough for me.
If you don't like epic, just don't buy from them and wait for the games to be released on steam, simple.
Crying won't solve anything.
They do rn

I’ll tell you why I don’t like the epic games store, it doesn’t have a workshop
So true like it makes modding soooo easy love gabe
One of the things I hate the most about Epic is that it doesn't let you move your games to diferent hardrives like you can do with Steam and other game lauchers on PC were they let you discover your existing games. On Epic you have to literaly trick the program to do this and sometimes it doesn't work.
You actually can.
First you have to start the game download to the new storage location. Epic recommends letting it download about 1-2%, but you can stop the download as soon as the game folder is created.
After the folder is made, you copy the original game files to the new location and then resume the download; it should then start discovering the new files.
I know this isn't as good as Steam or Uplay, but it's a start I guess.
@@GDRobbye On steam you just move the game to your other drive Steam folder. And if you happen to reinstall your Windows on a new PC the only thing you should do is log in into Steam and you don't have to reinstall your whole library just move you game SSD to your new PC. I don't think it's that easy with EGS.
@@GDRobbye just like used to be on Steam. Years ago...
I cant seem to change folder location with steam. Only fresh install.
you can lol
I personally like to support indie devs on the epic launcher, as someone learning to make games and specifically working with unreal engine I sympathize with them, but when I bought ashen there my controller didn't work and I had to add the game on steam so I can use their controller support, which is fantastic and works almost with anything with an absurd level of customization, as a store it's ok-ish, some good deals and fantastic titles like sifu, but as a platform the difference is like night and day, if they put some effort into features instead of deals maybe we could get a decent rival in several years, because each day egs doesn't gets better steam does
Steam Input is the #1 reason I make sure all my games go into my Steam library. I like gaming with controllers and with any controller I want instead of just being expected to use an Xbox controller. I like my DualSense and customizing the trackpad and gyro controls. I like being able to easily access my entire library from Big Picture Mode and downloading games with a few button presses instead of needing a keyboard and mouse on my couch. Steam is just the best. It's unmatched.
if i recall correctly steam has scaling sales revenue cut, i dont remember the exact numbers
but it's something like
first 10000 copies, 15% cut
500000 copies and above, 20% cut
1 mil copies sold, is the usual 30%
not exact numbers, just something i recall from ages ago so the numbers are not at all accurate
there's also the problem in EGS (not epic's fault, just how it is) that epic exclusives generally don't do well on player count, and if the game is also a multiplayer game with matchmaking... well let's just say that suddenly you spend way more time in the lobby than any given decent game on steam
not too much of a big problem for singleplayer tho, and a "hack" with the exclusivity deals is that it only lasts 1 year
so.... early access for 1 year, then full version 1.0 release on both EGS and steam capitalizing on hype around initially releasing early access and epic's money then a year later hype for the full release and (hopefully) a healthy pre-existing community
this "hack" has been done by Hades by supergiant games, and everybody loves Hades or "loves Hades characters too much"
edit: sorry, i mentioned Hades even though it's mentioned on the video. i had this video as "background noise" just coming back to continue this initial comment every few min
that is until i rewatched the video properly this time
lets remember when a single developer of a game called Darq rejected their offer, only to have his game blocked from their storefront
I remember that, didn't even know about the game but I instantly bought it on Steam as a fuck you to Epic lol
No but seriously, I had no idea Kingdom Hearts was (officially) on PC until it was brought up it's only exclusive to the Epic Games Store
That actually grinds my gears. These are games I wanna get into, but I'll be dammed if I go anywhere near that storefront
In cases like that you could, you know, navigate the 7 seas
@@speed3414 This. Square Enix has already earned more money than they deserve anyway.
The moment it released i purchased it on utorrent. Game was soo good. Thanks epic for paying the devs for me
eh just pirate em i aint ever buying shit from epic, EVER
As someone who owned 1 and 2 on PS2 and made the unfortunate walk of shame to nab them on PC... not worth it, they somehow don't run as well. I don't understand how a PS2 game on modern hardware can possibly lag and stutter, but here we are. Just pick them up on Playstation instead. that's where they're meant to be played, and if you don't get the Final Mix versions you can avoid some of the worst palette swaps I've ever seen in my entire life
I only go to the epic games store for the free games of the month.
I think most people do lol, and I bet no one plays half of them
It's True I collect them all yet never played a game there once
@@Proxidist yeah, maybe except for Subnautica, Celeste, GTA V and probably one or two other games. The vast majority of what I have picked up has never been installed or played for more than a few minutes.
Free games ain't even worth the cost of installing EGS lol
I have many 10 games there and never started any
Not to mention game refunds are nonexistent on these other platforms. Every game i've ever bought on PC outside of steam (with the exception of minecraft) has either been a buggy mess, a hellish pay to win scheme, or both with no chance of refunds.
I just refunded Uncharted 4 on Epic and it was instantly.
@@mrxcs I havent bought anything off of EGS, I was mainly talking about EA's Origin, Microsoft store, and Bethesda's defunct launcher. You have no way to get your money back if they scam you (Example: Fallout 76) or at least make you have to go out of your way to claim a refund
@@jack.h99 if literally every game you've ever bought outside of steam has had such glaring issues with it - not to rustle jimmies - but wouldn't that mean you need to take more responsibility as a consumer in regards to what you choose to purchase? Because games on steam can also have these issues, and sometimes those issues don't become apparently within a 2 hour window.
Personally I've had no issues with other store fronts/launchers - I just mainly use steam because it feels nice having my digital library centralised in one app.
ONLY IDIOTS REFUND.
YOU DOCUMENT IT AND THEN DECIDE.
NO RIGHT FOR A REFUND.
1:18 But, it didnt.
A monopoly is where the competition is at an unfair disadvantage. Or there is no competition.
The reason there was no competition, is because steam offers a genuinely great service which noone wants to put in the effort to match or outdo.
The reason the current 'competition' is trash, because they arent doing anything to actually give people a reason to buy from them. Their services are trash. Those stores only exist to make money, without providing anything to the customer.
Knowing that, not only "Kingdom Heart's" is exclusive to the Epic Games store but "Alan Wake 2" as well fiscally hurts me.
and PC simulator 2
Epic Games stole Metro Exodus from me. I know it's available on Steam now but I have not, and will not forgive them for it
same,epic is a piece of ...
It's also available on GOG too.
There are games i'd love to play that are on EGS (Kingdom Hearts being the biggest) but I refuse to support them. I'm all for competing store fronts and I do support GOG for example but what EGS is doing is nothing more than the console mindset being brought to PC. I have friends who have resulted to piracy over supporting EGS.
I bought KH Collection on PSN and Alan wake remastered on xbox, I'm avoiding that crappy store with my life lol
Alan Wake 2 suffers because of Epic Games. Imagine how many people would've actually paid for it if it wasn't on a dogshit launcher
Another thing that isn't mentionned is the linux compatibility, it's a massive pain in the ass to use the EGS on linux. The solution always ends being Lutris but even then you have to manually configure wine/proton or whatever compatibility tool you are using.
On top of that it's heavy af, while steam's resources usage come from the web pages, the EGS is very hungry and slow because of the poor optimization.
I legit had zero clue about Kingdom Hearts, that's insane that I had no idea it was on PC.
Competition is always acceptable
Indeed, unless it's epic games UI sucks
my biggest problem with Epic Games is not their store, is their treatment to old legacy games like Unreal/Unreal Tournament like i'm more upset Epic Games let Unreal/Unreal Tournament left to rot more than their store itself -_-
RIGHT?? Unreal deserves justice, not the "this game never existed wdym" treatment that Epic gives it now.
@@thewitheredstriker exactly
Ah yes, a game that tries to beat Quake, guess the newest Quake is still exist today even though it wasn't that great compared to its predecessor
@@erwinsetyo1061 oh yea i forgot about they was tryin't to compete with Quake and now Quake is owned by Microsoft funny thing now lol! and i love both Quake and Unreal/Unreal Tournament equally
awesome edits! their customer support is terrible, too! ive been trying to get my acct back for a month now and with all the money i invested its insane. even after multi times of showing all requested proof they wont unlock my acct. i guess they figure its easier to click next support ticket than to actually help their customers that invested alot of money into their biz
I dont like the epic games store and I think steam is the best platform ever.
steam has better payment methods using those gift cards to buy games while epic games store where the only way to buy a game is needing a credit card.
This seriously why i never use epic
Does EGS even have gift cards?
I was able to gift someone out of my region that I can't regularly gift games to due to monetary differences by buying them a Steam wallet gift card instead as a workaround. Sure it's always in definite set prices but hey it works and I don't have to go through 3rd party stores that may end up just being a scam.
Wait epic only supports Creditcards. Well even if i wanted to use it i couldnt because i dont own one.
I love your use of Ratchet And Clank music from the ps2 era. Brings back memories of a different time in gaming.
(edit)
I especially like your use of the vid comic song "Arriba Amoeba!" at 1:54 to further emphasize that greedy energy.
As well as the Maktar Nebula- Boss Battle theme around 3:06 ish with that crowd angry edit. (reminds me of those crowds that would watch the fight in the ring).
I found this video and honestly, having Kingdom Hearts finally coming to Steam was the biggest victory in my book. It didn't released in 2021 on PC, it truly released in 2024!
we did it boys, kingdoms hearts is on steam
Yeah the core problem is like you said they do things that are good for developers, and those things are legitimately good. You'd be crazy to turn down a million dollar + deal as an indie dev whose entire career could rely on the game you're making to bring in money to buy food. And letting devs keep a higher percentage of the profits, I mean it's not like an explicit problem like you said 30% is industry standard, but it's still nice. But none of that is good for consumers. And buying games to force them to be exclusive on your platform is also not good for consumers. When you keep doing things that are bad for the people that have to give you money, it's no wonder that people don't like using your store.
I mean they kept making bs arguments about things like how it was totally better to not have a review system in place. And then they turned around and announced that they would have a review system, but that it wouldn't have any actual text comments on it just a rating. And on top of that the way it was designed was clearly made to select for people bias to give games higher ratings which again is good for developers and bad for consumers.
And it's just hypocritical to complain about Steams Monopoly when they're the ones buying exclusivity contracts that force people to only use their platform. Oh yeah really standing up for the little guy there epic by throwing around your money to halt competition.
And the grandest irony is that despite all of this, if they had simply not gone so wild on the exclusivity deals. (I'm not even saying none at all just none of the super BS ones like how they would take kickstarter games that promised a steam release and have them release on epic instead and things like that) And if they had just focused on the free games thing, I would probably much more willingly use their store. Like even with it being trash if it was a place where I got tons of free games then fuck it I'd at least pay more attention to it and maybe I'd actually buy something. Meanwhile I've collected dozens of free games from them but I've played almost none of them because I'd rather not think about their storefront at all.
Also as a sidenote, I got into game development in the last few years and for a while I was learning the Unreal Engine. The grandest irony is that the program for managing your Unreal projects is the same launcher as their Epic store. Except when you go to the Unreal Engine side of things, things are way way more featured than the Games store. They've had basic things like a shopping cart and user reviews up for that side of the same program for years! Hell the reviews are even a straightforwards star rating system with actual text reviews! And yet it took them literal years to even consider adding anything remotely resembling these features to the consumer facing side of the literal same program.
Also if you're curious about how Epic's review system is incredibly biased and don't know about this, here's how I understand it works:
Essentially instead of just letting anyone who owns the game leave a review, they instead make it so that you have to play the game for at least 2 hours first. (on a totally unrelated note the refund limit is 2 hours as well...) Then instead of simply giving the option to review after that point, you are selected randomly as to whether or not you get the honor of leaving a review. Then on top of that you can't just leave a text review, you have to give it a rating and then answer various polls for things like "How would you describe the visuals?" with the only responses being "Beautiful, Realistic, Playful, or Unique"
So to break it down, people that play the game and are immediately turned off of it before the refund limit can't leave a review explaining why. On top of that even if you do play long enough to be eligible, you have to be chosen to leave a review, which is a random chance at the end of every play session. This means that if you do more play sessions, you effectively get more chances to be picked to review it. So the review system naturally selects for people who have played the game for the longest and thus are more likely to have enjoyed the game.
Then on top of that you can't even describe what you like and dislike specifically, you have to answer generic polls that have pretty much only positive answers. So using that example I listed, if you like a game but wanna criticize the visuals, the best you can do is say that the visuals are "unique" and have no ability to provide an explanation beyond that.
It is a truly awful review system that is obviously designed to just help people get positive reviews.
I love how there have been some game studios refusing to sell their games on Steam but when they lose money and then publish their game on Steam they get crap'd on by the community
Yeah Kingdom Hearts has been sitting on the EGS for at least 2 years now.
KH is finally here. Thank god
I looked at EGS a while ago and finally found out where all the NFT and Web3 games go to die.
I love that steam is not a monopoly anymore, they continue improving, because as long as two companies compete for customers the customers continue
I agree with you, to an extent. I like competition but Epic? Eh. I think I'd prefer the Steam monopoly.
GOG exists also. I shop there and steam.
Wonder if the usual epic defenders have been by here....
@@BareBear-nj5uc I'm not pro epic, I am pro competition. I also love that gog exists, epic, green gaming, and other shops. Give to much power to any institution and they become evil. We need competition for customers so there is innovation and price equilibrium.
@@chrmakri Yeah that's how I understood it, and I am as well.
@@sgtsnokeem1139 I do shop at GOG but not often. I don't actually share games to begin with and to be honest Steam support is way better and cause much less issues in general on more modern games. Older games, GOG for sure.
The thing is i hate epic games so much to the point where i deleted my account that has the free gta in it.
I did the same. Now, i only buy in Steam.
I'm honestly gonna repurchase Battlefront 2 and GTA V on steam because Epic makes it such an unpleasant experience
Honestly, GoG has the best chance at competing with Steam. It's different enough that there is a place for both, and it isn't plagued with consumer unfriendly actions.
They have an API that allows to make third party Launchers with 100% feature support like Heroic Games Launcher and there are GOG-DVD games with the paper in the box saying: "Optional online backup key".
If Steam ever goes down, (which I highly doubt it ever will, but if it does) I'll be moving to GOG. The second best storefront imo
ye
HumbleBundle third on that list.
The day that happens, probably whole gaming industry will go down along with every single store.
And when that goes down, the companies go down.
Companies like Epic really need to choose their words and actions carefully.
i thinnk about it this way, EGS allowed indie developers to get more funding, which is good for the industry, so in a way, the timed exclusivity EGS deals are good long term, i dont think hades wouldve ended up the same way if it wasnt on EGS first. EGS is for the developers, steam is for the consumers, EGS users are there to be second class to developers. thats how i thinnk of it
From the very day I heard about EGS, I knew they were a bad egg. Steam is gathering gamers, EGS is dividing them, and the best solution for us all is if they just go "poof" very silently and disappear. I have never bought or supported them, EA or Ubisoft, and I refuse using their app or having anything remotely connected to that trash, I rather wait for their exclusive time to run out so I can get it on Steam. Returnal was something I'd want to try, but as long as it forces you to install EGS on my device with or without my consent, I won't buy it. I just don't support scum. Happy to see reasonable people in this channel, I was thinking I were alone putting my foot down all this time. Keep it up!
EA lost me after they started going mobile street and just remaking the last COD, or sport game, since each game is literally just a remake of the prior game. Just new year in the title. ITs why Blitz 2000 was so good. and even its successor was good since it improved on the last game. Now adays the different games that are remakes of last year's game end up falling flat since they cut out things that should be a part of the game from last time. Not to mention it is just constant rebuying... and I am sure if EA could they would make a season pass version of the game if they could.
Ubisoft... have they died? Or just joined the same Mobile bandwaggon?
Just seems to me the gamming market for some of these places are going to start crashing soon
It's like games that go to the EGS become dead to me, Like I look at that the same way as I look at "The game has been cancelled. We are very sorry to deliver this news." Even when they come to steam after exclusivity ends I still don't know about them and by then if I hear it's on steam and I knew of it before hand I think "Well now it's old... why would I pay full price for a game that's old?" It literally just... is a death sentence
the sad part is that steam actually needs the competition, just wish the de-monopolization of the PC games market came from a better company
Steam isn't a monopoly.
Epic Games has monopolies.
Steam does not. You do not understand how monopolies work, or what they entail. Apparently.
Kingdom Hearts 3 on PC was a thing. I just forgot lol
There's also the fact that Epic Games can disable your account for no valid reason at all. And the reason they have, they gatekeep it, my account due to the reason of being unable to verify that I am the creator of the account when I can send them a screen shot of literally owning the account and being the original creator. This also happened immediately after by my agent who looked on the fact on whether I was satisfies with support or not, I gave a reason for not being satisfied (unrelated issue). And after that my access from the account was immediately taken away and I'm not being given any confirmation, a time frame, nothing!
The first and only game that I bought on EGS was Metro Exodus. Then after I finished I tried to find the achievements just to find out that there are none on epic
Epic have been absolute scumbags trying to "dethrone" Steam with the most underhanded garbage methods imaginable so most sane potential users of it went "screw you" and never used it.
If Epic just focused on making a good store they might have gotten somewhere, instead they dumped all their money into buying exclusivity for games, which pisses everyone off, instead of actually making the store usable and its still a pile of garbage to this day.
All the early defenders of EGS going "HURR DURR VALVE SO GREEDY TAKING 30%" have been humiliated a thousand times over at this point. EGS has no features, Steam has so many features you don't even need to go to the internet for most things...
Want to play co-op in a game that doesn't have online co-op but has local? Sure just stream it through Steam.
Wanna make a small PC to use at your TV as a console? Sure Steam has big picture mode or even the Steam OS.
Wanna mod your game? Steam Workshop.
Wanna go to the forums for troubleshooting? Steam forums.
Wanna check out a livestream briefly to see gameplay? Steam has livestreaming built in...
What does EGS have? A shopping cart that took them years to add, amazing...
EDIT: forgot to add that while Valve is working hard to make windows games playable on Linux to chip away at the Microsoft monopoly, our good friends at Epic killed Easy Anti Cheat for Linux thereby making countless MP games unplayable. Yet another reason to not give those scum any money EVER.
I acknowledge the existence of a game as long as it is available on Steam, GOG and or as a physical version without a launcher.
Me when a game is epic store exclusive: Well, time to spend that money on steam to buy more DLCs.
Don't worry, I'm still waiting for Kindom Hearts to finally get fully released on PC. Hopefully the early access phase ends soon on Epic Games.
I just log on to claim a free game every couple of months (I forget half the time) and the never install or play them
But claiming them for free is satisfying so that is a game in and of itself
The number that came up at 19 second for a single frame is 10840.46 usd
You gamers give me more reasons to believe the best marketing move I could make is publish on steam, at least steam and itch io.
Because I also exclusively purchase games on steam and itch, like they’re built for gamers and developers to live together in.
I know I'm late, but we appreciate the usage of the PS2 Ratchet & Clank music.
That is all I have to say, good video.
i got Hades in early access on Steam, but didn't know it had an EGS deal until way later lol.
i think it would've been a failure or cult classic if they didn't go on steam when they did.
Hey so that Kingdom Hearts collection came out on Steam a while back. 3rd most sold game in the US right now...
I lost saves on multiple games. Didnt manage to recover from local. so thats that. Wont attach myself to any epic games game for sure.
I respectfully disagree. I've had nothing but great experience with Epic Game store.
I literally waited for Salt and Sanctuary sequel to come out for 3 years just to find out it came out 2 years ago on epic games store@
I do the weekly free games but yeah I wait until the exclusivity deal ends and the games I want goes on sale on Steam.
I just like the profile section where we can track achievements and hours spent on each game. We can customize it and if you are competitive with friends you can check them out. If a game is not on steam? Most likely I’ll end up with a fitgirl repack lol
EGS is a joke.
I tried to uninstall a game - it failed.
I tried to change the default game installation directory - there is no such setting.
Honestly, if Epic isn't even taking their own launcher seriously, why should we?
They say they can Family share on Epic Games, but there is no what I can find it or how to do it. I type it in search and all that comes up is instructions on Steam, not Epic Games. I wana share one account of mine with another of mine, but I can't find how. Been searching for so long but it's annoying with the Epic Games programme.
The only games I've played on epic games was Fortnite, lego fortnite and Man Eater
Epic games don't even can handle some users when they gifted GTA V it just got saturated too fast
Kingdom Hearts is on Steam now. Lol
It's a terrible PC port though, but I think it had similar or same issues on Epic Games as well.
@@TehDanny What issues do you mean? I already fully beat the first game on Steam and the only weird thing was Pooh having a seizure in one level.

The only value it has is free games. The launcher itself is a buggy mess that keeps logging me out and not letting me in.
The only thing I bought in EGS was "Salt & Sacrifice", a sequel to wonderful 2D soulslike metroidvania "Salt & Sanctuary". It wasn't the best user experience in my life, but the game was worse :(
I loved Salt and Sanctuary more than the Souls series, I found it by accident on Steam and it became one of my favourite games of all time.
I played Sacrifice and it was SO disappointing I refuse to even talk about it, let it die.
I recently bought Thymesia on Steam. That looked good. I've installed it, but have yet to play it. I still need to check out Lies of P as well.
for me ''Rockstar Games Launcher'' is way worse
Now don't forget the 30% steam takes usually goes back into the app itself, so making it more user friendly and so on. Does it shaft the indie devs? Yes, sadly it does, would work better if they took 15% from the indie devs but then you have 2 tiers and that just would be a crapshow
Nothing compares to how smooth steam is and how all my friends can see I'm playing the new game
I've only bought a handful of games in EGS and they're all not on Steam, still waiting on it so I could double dip on it.
I like how he has Rachet and Clank music in the background.
The free stuff is a scam, it's not even that good most of the time, it's games that no one has ever heard of
Never lose your google account used to sign up in Rockstar Games because you wont be able to play GTA V, you cant unlink that account from epic
While I do agree with all the virtues you mentioned regarding Steam, it seems you are giving them for granted based on your fanboyism, I am all up for competition as this is what to some extent keep these giant corporations in check, competition always favour the customer the most, so yeah, I will keep an eye on Epic Games or any other Store that want to get into the market.
Imagine not buying a game you’re dying to play because you don’t like the shopping cart.
Many other games exist.
And the store not supporting regional currency
And the store not supporting real review system
And the store not supporting a refund system
And the store not supporting modding natively
And the store not supporting linux ecosystem for gaming
yea the only time I went to epic games is when I receive discord notification about free claimable games
My main issue with EGS is that it's very feature incomplete, especially considering the ludicrous money they have. It's crazy how they didn't at least try to copy even the most basic of Steam features at launch and then try new ideas. Exclusivity wise it does suck when it's a big studio that doesn't depend on that money infusion to keep going, unlike indies. I see nothing wrong with games developed or published by EGS like Alan Wake II and Fall Guys since they might've not been released without Epic backing.
im like EPIC WHO? steam boi for life.
It needs to be eliminated I bought a few games and plan on buying all the games on steam at some point so I can uninstall it. What’s really crazy is kingdom hearts doesn’t support cloud save and many games don’t.
Nintendo : We are the only game platform that are not on steam, but people buy it anyway for the Nintendo shop.
Joke aside as for Epic Games I was expecting it to be a comparable competitor to steam like by 2024, possibly surpassing steam as the go to platform imagine if they succeeded, that would be the biggest shock of the century. But instead they failed and continues to be the more boring of the 3, GOG is staying natural as of 2024 that's an Epic fail, no pun intended.
It's shit and a disgrace , pulled dead island 2 off steam as a EGS exclusive.
I am eating a potato with butter
Psychopath.
proof?
@@OG_ZEB it was in my plate that's my proof and the butter was on potato and the potato was under the butter
What would you expect from a platform that takes its name from an ancient meme?
So recently I saw a 75% discount on Cyberpunk 2077 on epic and you can get 15% more through coupon, from $60, it becomes only $6. But nahhh I'm good, I'll wait it on Steam to be 50% discount and I'll get it from Steam
Yeah in the beginning it was annoying hearing of all the games being on the epic games store first but since then I completely forgot it even existed and I only care once a game is on steam and let's be honest most of them will at some point.
Hades is a funny example because I played it in early access on steam and never even knew it was an exclusive first. I can wait, a game isn't magically better or worse just because you play it as soon as it's avaiable or after a year.
It's delusional to think that Epic would run out of Money, especially because they are backed by Tencent (Epic is 40% owned by Tencent) and as long as Tencent isn't running out of Cash, Epic won't either
They can run out of money if they stop being profitable and make money, tencent can only hold the for so long until they get sick they constantly lose
I never used epic game store and I'm only hearing about their immaturity just now as I try this
epic needs a forum and the ability to write reviews for each game. steam can keep their emoticon clutter.
10.8k? im indeed in cardiac arrest
Epic launcher is also Malware. Its infected my friends computer multiple times until he stopped installing it.
You forgot to mention that the Chinese are also invested in epic. That’s the biggest dealbreaker for me.
Epic spent all of their time making the UI pretty and neat without any decent function
man as kingdom hearts fan its so sad that disney or square won't let the kh games come to the PC
Epic is just a technical disaster on all levels
Bro when I download Fortnite my epic games log out my acc
If buying isnt owning then pirating isnt stealing
I was streaming KH1FM the other day when my internet went down. My stream went offline of course but KH also went down. KH is a SINGLE PLAYER GAME, why does the pc version need an online connection?!
Epic Gamea is a grace for us gamers in Turkey, since Steam switched to USD, games became even more unaffordable. That’s where Epic (and gamepass as well) comes into scene and at least make it more affordable.
I'd agree on Origin and Epic (whic i've used long before they added third party games), but both UPlay and Battlenet are as good as Steam, if not better :O
The latest two are not only lightweight, but it just works and looks pretty, it's easier to recognise games that you installed previously without having to download them again.
Good luck having that 200 GB game being recongised by Origin and epic xD
Uplay and Battlenet are GARBAGE, dude, holy.
@@Swattiilet bro have his opinion 💀
4:31 don't disrespect the goat like that
If you want to try another launcher, GOG is the only good one because they're a DRM free launcher. Once you purchase and download a game, you have the files, you don't need the launcher.
I got to ask what about GOG? Along with Steam, that's my other go to PC gaming service.
GOG is great. HumbleBundle is great too. I don't care about having multiple clients or launchers. But the anti-competitiveness, anti-consumer practices, and scummy business practices really grind my gears.
