living the dream of so many ppl .
Maybe in a 300 series instead!?🤣🤣🤣
So I wasn’t mistaken to see a sand coloured unimog driving to the Big4 in Redlynch, Cairns a couple of weeks ago
Hi Steve, yes that was us, such a nice area we love it!
@ 14:56: This dude looks it could butter a slice of toast! Knife looks amazingly sharp!
Hi Guys if you are coming down near Hervey Bay let me know would love to see Bowser Have my own mog looking to build similar as you build
Thanks Brad
Nice work Guys yes damage is just part of 4wding
Mog looks great enjoy Life as it’s to short Cheers
Thanks
Don’t swat the March flies guys! The smell of a squashed one will attract more! Bug spray or just shoo them away. Looking forward to next week!
Fantastic episode, so well done. Good to see that you are not taking risks with crocs, or for that matter Box Jellyfish and Irukandji which are plentiiful in those waters.
@@teeanahera8949 They are not the same. Why don't you look it up?
Its a hex drive socket or Allen drive socket… same thing. 👍
Livin' the life.
Having just caught up with your recent videos I’m not surprised that you needed some time out. Wonderful part of Australia that I have not seen before. Enjoyed the adventures and looking forward to your next surprise may be a dingy or something similar hence the heavy duty roof bars?
Thanks a lot mate! And cheers for watching the vids. Such a beautiful part of the country but definitely a bit of a workout to get up there! 👍
Enjoyed the Video! Always interesting, thanks guys. 👍
great to see your having some relax time and catching up with maintenance, bugger about the windscreen but good to see you got one at a good price .was wonndering what happened when your usual friday release did not happen.stay safe and looking forward to the next vid
Thanks so much David! Yeah the windscreen wasn't ideal but it's not the end of the world. Catch you next week! Chris
Another great video guys. Enjoyed all the MOG maintenance.
All the best from Miami, Florida USA👍🇺🇸
Thanks a lot LP!
Yeeeeaahhh BABBY first at last Pura Vida!!!!!
Well deserved amigo!! Pura Vida!
Would think there'd be a lot of Unimog spares in Townsville as there's a huge army base there.
Hi guys, regarding the edges of your truck getting damaged. You could use stainless steel or aluminium 90 deg angle to what ever size you require say 3inch should do cut to what length you require. Say 14 or 16 gauge should do then use stainless self tapping screws after using a good adhesive. End of problems😂😂 Jon 🇦🇺👋🏻
Hey Angi nd Chris ,both looking well 🍀 mog looks fantastic 😊 Coles actually do great liquorice wheels as well ,I get them shipped to the UK 👍you two take care, stay safe, keep on keeping on 👍
Pork is good for you with plenty of iron as well if you want mixd it up. Really lean as well.
Great episode, only a minor bit of damage. We have the same recovery kit - problem is, if you attach it to a little 4x4 like a Landcruiser, whatever you attach it to will be coming out - and hopefully the rest of the car is still attached. 🤣
😂
Fantastic chill episode after all your travels. For your stings, try sandalwood oil, absolutely swear by it, almost instant relief. Looking forward to the new addition
Thanks Sean for the tip, I'll definitely try to find some!
Got a small and a big original toolbox if you want
Thanks so much Andre, where are you based?
@@TheOutFit Darwin
Hey you, lovely to see you both again, really enjoyed this week's episode, very relaxing catch up, hope the iron levels are climbing Ang. You don't half when hard you two. Take care both. 😊🌈
Thank you so much Vicky for tuning in every week, always a pleasure to read your comments! Have a great week :)
Cool seeing the real world testing of your hab box as I'm half way through converting ours (which is also grp sandwich panels) and thinking a lot about the exterior protection 💪🏻😎
Love your channel and your MOG. I have a 6x6 BMY Harsco 5 ton US military truck with a home built habitat on the back l drew a lot of inspiration from you. Love and respect from the USA TO AUSTRALIA .
@14:56 Wow! Seems very nice and comfortable to use. would like to have one!
Thanks everyone for watching; stay tuned for next week's episode for the exciting new project reveal! Any guess?
Baby seat 😊
Glad you appreciate us watching, it's 0400 UK time.
Cheers for filming another video👍🏻
Hi Guys,
Another great video.
In Australia, Tyre wear is always worse on the outside edge of front passenger side Tyre, as more of your turning is to the left, then right.
The heavier the vehicle, the more pronounced this issue is.
Not to bad on a small
1.2 tonne car, but it definitely starts to become a more noticeable issue, on an SUV of 2 tonne, or more.
Bowser weighs a lot more then 2 tonne…
Big Army Barracks is near to Townsville.
A few Army Unimog in that area, so Townsville is probably a good spot to buy some spare parts ?
@@StephenFogarty2023 Hi Stephen, we saw the army base in Townsville. All the Mogs are gone and have been replaced by the MAN trucks. They probably wouldn't sell anything directly to the public, usually it goes through the auctions on Australian Frontline Machinery.
I would add a second set of sand tracks on the side for scratch resistance
Hi Guy’s couldn’t agree more about the Ginger Nuts, I’ve been here for 35 years and still crave a Griffins. Cheers Rob in Brisbane
A new coffee press?! Coo! Bowser looks shiny again and with the new screen it will be ready for new adventures. I had a grin on my face when I saw the end where bowser was just barely fitting on the concrete spot at the campsite. Looked so funny. In parallel I'm almost done watching your General video's and Ange your pregnancy is showing beautiful in your face. Somehow are more softer expression and glow. It becomes you. Greetz from The Netherlands, Nieck and Karen
Thank you Karen and Nieck for watching all our videos from the start and keep following along, it means a lot! Hope all is well in the Netherlands for you :)
Nice cleaning job Chris and Ange! Try Gorilla mounting tape from Bunnings. I use it for so many things. It’s strong as hell! Even when exposed in the elements. I think it holds around 30lb.
Haven't tried that one. Will give it a shot. Cheers
A bird just dive bombed you! Would have been crazy to have some in cab footage, probably spooked the hell out of you guys haha. Bowser looks good with the rack, curious to see what you put on!
Was seriously freaky! Cheers mate!
Went through 3 windscreens on our last 3 month journey through northern and central Australia. pretty much just another routine chore and expense.
Just watched this episode trucks looking great .......chris and ange ....call mog central in queebeyan they make a camber correction kit for the front of the 1700s which fixes that tyre scrub issue
Thanks a lot Keiran! We saw it was installed on a Doka recently, it looks good! The owner said he will do some further reports but yes definitely an upgrade to consider 👍
Thanks Chris and Ange for the vids.
We are enjoying them and using them for future trip planning.
So it would be excellent for me if you could print on the screen the names of the campsites. Was able to get Graham range in Russell NP, and loyalty beach but could not work out the other bush camps.
Enjoy the journey of prepping for the bub. Regards col
Thank you Colin for watching! The nice bush camp at the tip is called Roonga Point, highly recommended :)
Bowser is looking "sexy" these days after the upgrades. Great video.
You need to chat with Ben at Mog Central about their patented front end camber corrector. I think it may be available soon. The man is a genius
We saw it was installed on a Doka recently, it looks good! The owner said he will do some further reports but yes definitely an upgrade to consider 👍 thanks for watching!
New to the channel and wondering where Ang is from. Enjoy the vids and watching your adventures. Thanks.
France, Cheers!
I'd call it a "mega allen key"
Chris, a oil sump flush might help as well
Unimog is used as a tractor in Europe they fix machinery such as snow ploughs to the front left side which is why the wheel is set as such to take the weight.
1:55 Because they are literally a tractor. Their entire design from ground up and purpose was tractor work with a massive array of function across Germany.
Hello, Thank you very much for this video: very good explanations, magnificent landscapes and impressive sea view... it made me travel... Captainriver23 from France
You might try TOE OUT slightly the front tires too even out the tread wear. This will flex the tire out as it drives and will make the contact patch more even, also giving you better and quicker steering. Likley about 1/2 inch [12mil] measured at the tire lugs front and back of the wheel. CHEERS AND SAFE TRAVELS Steve h.
I remember a guy I think north of Cairns in Palm Cove in a wheelchair ? with a black-red cuckatoo bird on his arm and that bird had a facebook page ? Been there about 5 yrs ago…we also went out to go diving and met a huge Napoleon fish named Wally ?
Hey guys ya videos are great. Just wanted people to know tried to buy one of those husk knives. They add knives to your order without you asking for it and they take more money out of your account then it is suppose to be. You can't respond to customer service email.Checked google reviews and it seems common. Just wanted to make people aware so they don't get scammed like us
Doesn't it feel great after an extended period of heavy-duty overland travel, to just stop for a while, spend time on a bit of maintenance (not sure I mean rotating a set of Mog tyres!), relax and catch one's breath. A rolling stone needs to stop and gather some moss from time to time
We both really needed that! We are now excited for the adventures ahead :) thanks for watching Andrew!
So my advice with regards to tyre wear is to rotate tyres from rear straight to front and cross the fronts to the rear. If you want to mix the spare in then swap the rear left to spare and spare to front right. When you do that just flip the one tyre going onto the front left and eventually all tyres will have a turn on each corner and will be flipped on the rim too.
Also $600 for a windscreen isn't that bad. My cruisers new one was $2500. Thank God for windscreen cover haha
Also when you head south, as you leave the little town of rollingstone, on your left a few km down the road there is a turn off for toomulla n national Park. Turn and head to the beach for an awesome secluded free camp.
A new windscreen for any later model vehicle with AEB etc, is very expensive.
The Mog doesn’t have AEB etc
As per the video, they have bought a new windscreen from a place in Townsville for $ 180.00 plus fitting.
The allen key is also called a Hex due to it's hexagon shape
hahaha gingernut recipe. mind blown.
that windscreen definitely looks worse in real life!!
Is your next surprise a Starlink satellite dish for those racks ?. Also whilst at Coles buy the Griffins Gingernuts, much better than any of the Aussie gingernuts
I think I saw you guys parked out the front of National Auto Glass Supplies in Townsville recently. Wish I stopped to say hello but was busy working my butt off that day.
That was us, getting ready to swap the windscreen ourselves 😅
Hi guys I’m enjoying you videos. How are the Tyers preforming ? How’s the tread wearing ?
Süper video 👍❤❤
14 mm allen socket 0.5 socket drive
Changing oil types/brands can be bad. I work in truck maintence/reliability in a mine. A while ago the mine switched oils and for a period of time all the oil samples had elevated copper levels until all the engines essentially wore in with the new oil. I asked penski and cummins about it and yeah, apparently you shouldn't change brands or types often.
More information than advice though. Probably don't matter that much
You guys stay safe.
And I’m kinda sad. Didn’t get to see if she’s showing yet 😢
14mm Allen Key Bit.
14 mm Allen Key for the sump plug
Creche on the roof so you don't have to give up space?
Hope the windscreen swap all goes well.
Brilliant idea ahah!
Hi Chris, re-tyres give Unidan a call or email. I am sure you might know them as they are mog lovers too. They do get in big lots of tyres ex mine/military etc. we found them very helpful when researching our build. Thanks
They sell our BKT's too
Hey guys just a suggestion for you.
Get rid of the heater fuel tank and tap into your main diesel tank. They use less than 200ml in fuel a night at their worst setting
That's an option we might consider this time, thanks Steve for watching!
Chris; oil that Lubricates? What you on a bout Mate?
Excellent video. Just a few negatives...I am missing on your drone images of Cape York...you are not doing enough of it like you used to. Also couple of the parks that Angie mentions I could not understand, next time please mention it your description or type it on your vid. Thank you.... otherwise great videos of Cape York. Ps Did you go to Weipa? We live in Cairns and planning to go to Cape York in August 2023.
maybe a hex socket ?
I think that's exactly what it is. Cheers!
23:50: its an inbus socket in german. And 25:19- it may be the wrong oil. Its for a 3-cylinder only… see the canister face… just 3 pistons
shown…. Oh my…😂
Outfit, HOW ARE YOU BOTH,? What busted your windshield? So I thought you had a light bar before the trip , can NOT HAVE TOO MUCH LIGHT IN THE BUSH ROADS, , TAKE CAE
UNTIL NEXT TIME GOD BLESS YOU ! 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸
That's a 14mm Allen key socket.
Satellite dish,for star link.
Try the Feijoa L&P Chris, even better.
We haven't seen that one in the shops!
@@TheOutFit Woolies and Coles sell it.
BEN,HI,, I HAVE A COMPLETE SET OF 3/8,&1/2 INCH DRIVES, LARGE ELECTRICAL LUGS USE THEM, I am retired as of2003, 81 now take care from NJ USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Chris just make sure your light bar is behind the top of your windscreen so you don’t get reflection on your screen and dash
Roof rack is a bit exposed for the baby seat 🙂.
Baby will have a great view from there 😄
Hello Angi and Chris ,trip looking great. I have 1 tools box I don't need. Let me know if you interest is free for you.
Hi Victor, that's a very kid offer thank you. Where in Aus are you based? Cheers, Chris
@@TheOutFit hello Chris I'm in Sydney. Are you heading through Sydney after QLD?
Hello Chris any plan to drive trough NSW ?
New screens are 320 Euros in germany now….
🇿🇦♥️♥️
Cockatoo screen , are bastards, same thing happened to me in a tour bus at 100 kph😊
Not fun! Cheers
Ange, were you a Model at some point?
Were you spotted driving through Yamba during the week?
Nope! In QLD. Cheers
@@TheOutFit A friend told me she saw a sandy coloured Unimog in Yamba and I thought it may have been you guys.
Yaamba qld or yamba nsw
@@stevesims8232 Yamba NSW.
Back on coffee full time?
Nah it's Chai. Still staying away from coffee 👍
Is it a baby crib/cot going on the roof bars?

Your rims are too narrow for that wide rubber. A wider rim will make a big difference in the should lug wear. As you are aware this is not a cheap fix but worth it for the long run (spend the money or get a heck of a work our every 5k km's). DO NOT allow the lock ring to flex that much when removing them as it takes the spring out of the steel and leads to a very nasty DEATH. Lay ring on flat surface and if 1 side is higher than the thickness of you tyre bar then replace right away as it is no longer safe to use (only use in emergency if you have to). Yes i know this sounds over cautious but is your LIFE worth that risk as it can also explode when airing the tyres up from low off-road PSI. In 20 years of doing tyre's i've only had 1 split rim explode apart (nobody hurt except a section of 6x6 fence 50 meters away was destroyed at only 25 PSI) it went out against my orders to replace the rim. Not trying to scare you out of doing the work yourself (highly impressed me you are doing it to start with) but they are like playing with explosives with no knowledge. Care to guess how high we sent a full scale Jeep (just like the 1 you had before Bowser) when we exploded a rim at 100 PSI Hint: it was way more than we expected. Will give you the answer in FEET next vid comment (saved this episode for a double dose this week so about an hour from posting this LOL). As always best wishes for you 2.
Cape York hardly seems worth it these days.
For what reason are the mog's wheels permanently set at a positive camber?
Thanks
Thank you so much for the extra support!
