The blessing of today's internet is if you have a not so common tool in your home, there's usually a lot of "hacks" for wild ways to use them. *This video is just some basic tactics, but I have no doubt there are videos out there showing the unique operations these can be used to perform.*
Double sided tape works great when you’re laminating multiple items too. I make name tags for work and have 8-10 at a time, it was a pain before I figured that out 😂.
Hi Ed. One small correction to a common mistake. The mil. referred to in lamination thickens is 1/1000 of an inch not Millimeters. A three mil pouch would be 1/8" on each side and 1 /4" total. It is 3 /1000" on each side 6 /1000" + The document .
Thank you. I have went through four laminators. I just got one for home with a cold and hot setting. But I don’t understand anything until I watched your video. Thank you so much for some of the information. I’m not sure when I would the cold side, because that’s the part that I could find the cold lamination sheets.😢
I’m thinking of buying a laminator for home use ( I have a toddler thats getting home school and I want to use dry markers and to laminate my agenda.) thinking of the scotch one
Great question! My hunch is that due to the soft nature of pastels, they would not do well with heat, so cold lamination would probably be your safest bet.
Sorry about the late reply on this one! If you're laminating thick paper, I would probably go with a 8 or 10ml laminating sheet. You're likely going to get bubbling on the thinner ones as they're not meant to handle thicker paper
Can anyone recommend the best type of paper to use for creating wipeable workshop forms? I'm looking for something my students can write on and that we can easily erase afterward for reuse.
There can be several factors which causes air bubbles: 1. Dust or particles getting trapped in between the laminated sheets 2. Low tension on the supply roll which minimizes adhesion 3. Coated papers and high gloss papers can also be prone to bubbles, likely because the lamination sheet doesn’t stick well to these surfaces. I think by and large, dust and particles can be the most common issue. When you laminate, make sure that your documents and laminating pouches are clear of dust and debris. Hope this helps!
Good question as that sounds like a challenging task! I'm not quite sure how you would be able to bend it without damaging the laminated sheet, but I may try lightly scoring the area where you want to bend it and then taping it up with Scotch Tape so that the bend doesn't wear out. Not sure if this would do it for you, but it may be worth experimenting. Let me know how it goes and thanks for watching!
Scoring the paper before laminating is the ticket. Then folding the laminated item on the score line works perfectly. No issue with wear & tear at the fold. 😊 I love the posty note trick! That was a 🥇 gold medal tip!
@@EdTchoi one major problem I have with 3 ml and 5 ml laminated sheets is that when they come out of the heat machine or heat laminator they curl or crinkle
@@barbra429 the sheet may crinkle if the heat is too low (make sure your machine is fully warmed up) and it may curl if there are air bubbles. Could be an issue with your current laminator? Also, have you tried cleaning the rollers (I show this in the video)?
Years ago, I used a laminator in an office and there was a sleeve that needed to be placed over the pouch before feeding it into the laminator. It was like cardboard with a shiny foil side. I seem to remember that it protected the rollers from gumming up. It appears that the new laminators do not require that step. Any comments?
Thanks for the catch and glad someone was paying attention 😂 Got a good giggle when I saw your reply! Sorry for the mixup and glad you got some new ideas!
I DO NOT! Recommend the glue trick, my photos were fine at first but over night the ink leaked/smudged on the photo and now they look terrible, maybe an alternative would be using a book or box to hold the paper up and stop the small photos from falling out.
Thanks ‼️ for sharing the fellowes resource.
Great tips! I had my questions answered.
Thanks!
Great tips and very nice laminator!
Indeed...probably one of the nicest laminators I've ever used!
Good to know about the cleaning sheets. Thanks. I have the 3i 95.

How do you open up a pouch? I can’t seem to find an opening
Never mind, I found it. I was trying to open up the wrong end
@@ronmorton9483 it can be tricky sometimes as the opening can get stuck together!

Can 2mm thick material be laminated?
Could i use the first trick to laminate sticker sheets?
Yes, you can laminate sticker sheets, but then how would you use the stickers themselves? 🤔
Great tipss
Thanks!

Apologies for the delay! Give the 3M Dry Erase Sheets a try as it may work for your application. Let me know how it goes!

Interesting. What was the thickness of your lamination film and which laminator were you using?
Why is it so hard to find a laminator that will accept 10 mL sheets! Does Fellowes have one?
The Fellowes Jupiter 2 laminator that I was using in this video accepts 10mm. Out of curiosity, what are you using the 10mm pouches for?
@@EdTchoi I like using them in my planner as divider pages. I have a Scotch laminator made for 3 and 5 ml, but I send my 10 mil thru it

Thickness are in mills, or 1/1000th of an inch. Not millimeters.

10mm = 1cm, 80 micron laminating pouches are 0.08 millimeters thick

Using a $300 Jupiter 2 125 on a teacher's budget?

Seriously, reusing PostIt notes? One block, 100 sheets 3x3 inch costs a dollar
It’s not quite about cost, rather than finishing creative solutions 💡
The thickness is measured in micrometers, not millimeters. Otherwise thanks for some new ideas!
