i think the problem with the filters on the eyes is simply that the eyes are too big. it's clear that the filter knows where to put the eye lashes and iris's but the filter doesn't fit the eye's correctly. it's like, imagine trying to put on a blue contact lenses the size of a pupil on a human eye to change the color of the iris, it simply wouldn't work. the same goes for the lashes, a normal human eye doesn't have as much curve as the eyes you drew.
@@liamatsolo6948 yh that makes sense, But the thing is, there are people with eyes that size, (it's actually fairly common I think) so that's just a design flaw in tiktok's filters. But i understand your point, most people don't have eyes, eyelashes and irises that size, and filters won't cater to everyone's needs, and the eyes do need to be smaller.

7:01 WOAHH THAT LOOKS SO GOOD! Fav filter. It blend it out more and makes the art that was originally just a test look finished! The canvas texture is nice too
I feel like the filters had problems because of the eyes. The eyes were more on the wide, cartoony side meanwhile actual eyes are more thin. The art is very pretty though.
I think the main issue for the eyelash filters was the size of the eyes. It tried to apply the eyelashes to a more almond-shaped eye that wasn't so wide-open, so the eyelashes kept appearing in the middle of the eye rather than the lash line. For people with less cartoony eye proportions, those filters might work nicely!
Remember that no art piece is ever "perfect" the joy in art should be creativity and individuality. Your art is never perfect, but its "defects" make it beautiful
No offense to you personally, but I really dislike when people put comparisons like these under other artists' work. Don't compete with other artists, compete with your own artistic development!

kinda off topic but i found it interesting how hailey managed to pull off this semi-realistic portrait style relatively quickly and make it work so nicely! it's awesome seeing her improve on that aspect, especially when you compare this drawing to for example the first time she did the realism challenge :D
Reminder to everyone reading this: You are beautiful and perfect just the way you are! These filters don't 'improve' your face at all, they just change it. Your face is gorgeous, and you don't need to change anything about yourself to fit the beauty standard that a lot of these filters set.

About face detection: there's a hard-coded way and a few artificial intelligence ways... The manual way looks at shapes of the face combined with the brightness in certain areas. The automated ways take a bunch of faces, the algorithm gets a 'reward' if it's right and a 'slap' if it's wrong If they did it the hard-coded way, you can trick it easily by combining the right shape with the right brightness. However, if they went with AI, it's a lot better at catching such false positives I have a funny story about detecting something. I worked on a robot that you could play a game of dice with. It had a camera on it with which it'd detect faces, dice, score and a cup to put the dice in. On the day we had to show it off, there was a group that all wore the exact same blue shirt. Why is that important? Well, we hard-coded the robot to look for a blue cup of about 'this size'... but if there was one of those guys standing right next to the robot (not directly in front playing with it), the robot couldn't find the cup any more even if it was right there, since the blue thing it saw was much bigger. So whenever someone with a blue shirt stood around there, we had to ask them to "either take one step to the left or to the right, doesn't matter which, thank you!" lol The thing with the eyes in face detection is similar to my story: the face detection expects the eyes to be a certain size and brightness. I think the eyes are a bit large and not shiny. A really powerful tool to determine what's going wrong is looking at a greyscale image. Looking at a greyscale image of 4:30 , I can kind of see why it had trouble determining what's part of the iris, especially considering it's not expecting such a big iris compared to the size of the face

Wombo might be a fun program to do something similar to this! Like these Tiktok filters, it tries to read a "face" but unlike the tiktok filters... it animates them to music. Admittedly some of those might be tricky to post without DMCA strikes, but I think you'd have some fun trying to make faces that work for it, and seeing how horribly they do when it goes wrong! (It's also really really cool when it DOES work because you get to see your art animated without all the work of doing it yourself!)
