Is Options Trading to blame for Alex Kearns's suicide?

Alex Kearns, a 20 year-old amateur options trader, committed suicide after seeing a unexpected loss of over $730 000 overnight. The news articles raised the possibility of the Robinhood brokerage, and options trading, were to blame for his trauma.
But a loss of that magnitude is peculiar given that Alex Kearns has an account size of only $16 000. Should options trading really bear part of the blame for his suicide? How could such huge losses result from a small account like his?
And more importantly, if it could happen to him, could it happen to any other beginner options trader? Should all beginner traders stay far away from options lest they experience the same catastrophic losses?
