Just inherited a 2009 access-cab Taco from my brother who passed away. I’ve already watched several of your videos, and I appreciate how you explain things, as well as your camera work. Please keep the vids coming. Liked and subscribed!
Side note for those who need to know. My SCS SR8's have the same notches on the back of the wheel but my Icon Rebounds do not and are a flat surface. You either need a 1" spacer or you'll have to grind your studs to make the 3/4" spacer fit.
Some people claim that spacers are extremely dangerous while others claim that they are great. There is a huge gap between those for them and those against them. Some spacers are ridiculously large and make the truck look funny. I was considering using Bora spacers but the thought of having a dangerous outcome has prevented me from getting them so far. I have a 2006 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport with a 3 inch lift by ReadyLift and 285/65/18 tires with a +12 offset. If anything I only need a spacing of 10mm to 20mm maximum. All thoughts and opinions are welcome. 👍
Proper wheel offset is the best way to go, but sometimes small spacers can be beneficial for clearance (like in this vid) so long as you use a reputable brand like Bora or Spidertrax. And of course, make sure the spacers are installed and torqued correctly.
@@Tacomaholic Any ideas on what the smallest spacer is that is available by Bora or Spidertrax ? I'm looking online but only see 1.25 inch etc etc which is way way too much spacing in my situation.
@@giorgioskaraiskakis9548 I'm not sure if Spidertrax does it, but Bora does custom sizes in 1/4" increments ... so 1/4" would probably be the smallest.
Happy new year! I've been pondering wheel spacers after my lift last summer with the slight rubbing on the front passenger fender flare. And the poke out doesn't hurt either . Here's to some fun and interesting stuff in 2021!
Ha. Nice. So, you are not going to space the front? Also, if you have issues with the studs poking out, a fatter spacer will clear the stud end, so there's that. I! Have been running spacers! 1.25 for a year now and my tires have fallen off only 3 or 4 times. I kid, there is seriously nothing that has gone wrong, and inspection stations etc. Seem to not care in the least. Enjoy awesome wheel time this year!
Yeah no spacers for the front since I'm not rubbing any of the suspension stuff up there. The 3.5 backspacing on my wheels makes them poke out quite a bit already.
I'd recommend UCAs since at 3" of lift they will help you get a proper alignment also. SPC Light Racing is a good option without breaking the bank. 2nd Gen version: amzn.to/3iVrAic
Yes steel and aluminum will cause galvanic corrosion so some anti seize is a good idea. You put way, way too much anti seize on a surface that needs to be flat.
Great video...dont you need the spacers in the front to keep the tire track wb front to rear the same or do you not think it's a issue? Antiseize, alot messy but a life saver for disassembly!!
Happy New Year, I’m using wheel spacers all four wheels with no problem. I have a question on your leaf springs, what leaf springs do you have installed and do they have squicky noises problem?. I’m in the process to upgrade my leaf springs. Thanks for your honest response.
I caught a lot of flack from my Toyota dealer about running wheel spacers on my 2020 taco to adjust the stance of the truck and to make room for slightly larger tires.. they told me instead to buy new wheels with a negative offset so i don't mess up my suspension geometry and alignment ?? . I get what they're saying to a point BUT i really don't see there being that much of a difference between the two!? I've had wheel spacers on all 4 of my previous trucks and have never had them cause an issue. On my current truck( 2020 Tacoma TRD sport) I'm running a 2 inch spacer up front to compensate for the narrowing of the front end caused by the 3 " lift kit, and 1 inch spacers on the rear to match the new front track width. works great , looks great! @Tacomaholic, Happy New year! hope you had a great "festive holiday season" and are staying safe and healthy! Looking forward to more great Taco content in the year to come! Cheers Buddy!!! PS, My new years Taco Resolutions: Rock sliders, Skid plates, Custom round tube Headache rack that works with my roll up tonneau cover, Mount my high-lift jack and recovery boards in the bed, and coat at least 2 random pieces in "rattle can rock guard "..lol
FNG question. I’m currently running a 2.5 Dobinsons lift on a 2016 4Runner with JBA UCAs. I have 285 70 17 on stock wheels and so far I don’t rub. If I went with spacers, do I run into a risk of now rubbing?
do you still using a rear lift block? you have a dakar leaf spring i just didn’t notice if you are using lift block.. currently i have lift block on my tacoma ang i have new oem specs of leaf spring still having a problem with axle wrap. trying to eliminate the lift block ang put arb lift spring or should i install traction bar just to avoid the axle wrap. thanks for the advice..
I'm not running a lift block in the rear. I never had an issue with axle wrap but I am running a 3 degree axle shim which is supposed to help a little if you have any vibrations.
(I replaced my plastic lids with lockable steel ones from mobtown offroad. Got tired of finding the lid(s) laying around the box and a bit more secure.)
@@Tacomaholic did you recheck to see if they were still torque to the correct pounds after 5 miles or is that what the loctite is for? I’m getting ready to do mine later today so just wondering about that re torque
@@onelik The loctite is supposed to help keep nuts from coming loose. I will check after a few miles to see but I only did a quick test drive after putting them on.

I’ve had spacers on for a year. Love them
Oh my...the intro vid of your truck...very cool. ..ultimate Gen 2 channel...keep them coming...Happy New Year!!!!!
Happy New Year Robert!
You must have a cool landlord!!
Great to see your rig finally in some dirt with a rock or two.
You must be one of the ones not watching any of the wheeling vids which is why I stopped uploading them.
Tekton! Good choice, made in America!
I've had spacers sitting inside my truck and I love them 🤣😎
Happy Holidays people,Happy New Year 2021 from Puerto Rico.....

i saw another guy recommend getting extended lugnuts on a BORA 1.5" spacer would this bee needed for the 0.75" spacer, or is it overkill?
Gotta throw on some for the front to match rear

I only added the spacers in the rear so the rear tires only stick out 3/4" compared to the front which really isn't noticeable.

I'm running the Old Man Emu Dakars and mine have been pretty quiet, but spraying some Fluid Film on your leafs should help with the squeaks.

My wheels have -25mm offset and still rub the suspension at full stuff. Happy New Year!
Job well done! I would have taken a wire brush and taken as much rust off as possible. Lol. I hate rusted parts.
I'll definitely clean that up when it warms up a bit so I can repaint everything.
Happy new year to you as well. Do you have a stock alarm system in your truck? Or could do a video on installing or upgrading the alarm ?
Happy New Year! Yeah stock alarm for now.

If the 4Runners are like the Tacoma with the cab mount then adding spacers will make you more likely to rub in that area.
Happy New Year Bro of the Taco, but where is your rear bumper?? The one you painted black?? The one by WarFab??

Hey there. How come you chose the tension shackle lift setup over a shackle flip with heavy duty shackles?
I've heard of too many issues with the shackle flips to go that route.
Does your HOA raise he'll with you? Happy New Year.
Lol nope! I don't make a mess and keep the noise down.
I saw you put locks on the panels in your bed, do you have a video or a write up on how to do that?

Lock tight needed?
Always with wheel spacers.
@@Tacomaholic BORA mention it’s not needed if torque to spec. Plus they said it voids the warranty
Enjoy all of your video's, but wouldn't it be easier to pull the drum off rather than scrub around studs?
That's what I'll be doing when I do a full clean to repaint them when it warms up.
Doesn’t bora say not to use loctite because it voids warranty?
Yeah and they also say using an impact gun on the lugs voids the warranty ... but I'd never run spacers without some of the red loctite on them.

These are 315/75R16
