I wonder if Carl is referring to the corporal Armando Valdez incident that I think happened in the 1970s in Chile, a really weird case which happened when he was leading a border patrol, basically he disappeared in front of the men he was in charge of after they encountered a bright light that had appeared before them, approximately 15 minutes later ( according to the other troops there) he re-appeared,crying out something like “ you don’t know who we are or where we’re from” strangely he had grown what appeared to be a beard of about 5 days growth, also his watch had a date that was 5 days in the future, you can google the information just use his name in the search engine, whether it’s true or not, I wouldn’t know I wasn’t there!

So glad you started this feature. Karl occasionally mentions having a sister, could it be Queen Boomer lol. The hairy Chinese kid is mentioned regularly on the show after this broadcast.

I've heard all of these clips at least 20 times but they still crack me up just as much as the first time.
Also not sure if you're aware but there was a bit of an echo from the video towards the end
They have overlayed the audio track with the audio track of the original clip but haven't synced it properly.

Wow it's fascinating hearing you guys react to this! There's a lot of us who have been listening to The RGS and the XFM radio episodes for a long time, some of us since the early 2000s. The xfm stuff especially was this little niche thing that is like my little piece of the early 2000s that I can come back to and feel all the nostalgia and what not. It's crazy sitting here in 2022, 20 years later, seeing the most unlikely of people listen to the XFM stuff, so cool!

This is way better than the cartoon version because each clip is unedited. The radio shows and the podcasts are unedited which give you a better context. For instance, the kick a duck up the arse bit, I thought they ruined it in the cartoon, it's much better to listen to the original recording for context. If I would recommend any listening from them I would say The Podfather is a good start, before you listen to their earliest stuff.
I find this especially funny because, for someone who claims to hold the idea of science and evidence based conclusions up on a pedestal, Ricky dismisses many of Carl's ideas based just because they are out of the ordinary.
Yes but most of the things he's says is nonsense and they know it only 10 or 5 % of what he saying is true .

I'v always heard it as " you get dumb" so that line has always been really funny to me.
He actually says "you're gonna get done", which is slang for you are going to be prosecuted.
I've got a mate just like Karl Pilkington. Right down to the accent, because we're both from Manchester. Even has a round head because I remember when he shaved his head once in the late 90's. It's always been me acting like Ricky Gervais does with Karl with him.

Karl was right about that law in the US about touching UFO's. It's a law from Arizona. But 'UFO' doesn't necessarily mean that's from space but I think it includes that too.

Use oil, WD40 doesn't last
First of all a simple, cheap and easy trick to stop squeaking or rust is to take a piece of kitchen paper and put a small amount of oil onto it - any oil will do including cooking oil. Alternatively you can just dribble a little bit of any oil directly onto the squeaky, annoying metallic part and then remove the excess using kitchen paper.
I've used this trick on a number of occasions and it works especially well when it comes to keys if you have difficulty opening doors - I use the first method by applying a small amount of cooking oil onto a piece of kitchen paper and then coating my key with it. The reason that it works so well is because once I reinsert the key into the lock it lubricates the lock itself internally which means that I don't have to bother with calling out a locksmith to replace both the lock and its key which is obviously a money-saving trick, isn't it?
Secondly, when it comes to Karl Pilkington he's just a typical Mancunian male and I love his sense of humour - it's completely deadpan and unrealised on his part. He can talk the biggest load of old bollocks on any subject without really having any expression in either his voice or his demeanour and the rest of us still find him hilarious, don't we? Despite the names of some of his programmes I wouldn't so much classify him as an idiot as an innocent either abroad or at home. Considering that he currently has a net worth of $3 million and earns $600,000 per year he can't be that much of an idiot, can he? 👍😎👍
Alternatively I can't stand either Ricky Gervais or Stephen Merchant and am just glad that this particular segment is purely audio. It's bad enough that we have to put up with both of them and their smugness during this radio broadcast never mind having to endure watching either of them in the flesh. The only way that I find either of them tolerable other than in audio form like this is when they're depicted in cartoon form.

I don't think so, how many times have you heard each episode for example? It's easier to persuade someone to watch a 3 hour compilation than 100+ hours of beautiful raw XFM madness.. at first

From what I've seen on the various discussion programmes I've seen him contribute to Ricky Gervais has no objections to other people's faith and religious beliefs. He doesn't rubbish anyone's faith. He rubbishes religious people who rubbish his atheism and people who try to force their faith on to others. I agree with him. He's far more respectful of others faith rights than he gets treated with for the faith rights he chooses to exercise in his own life. Not believing in God does not equate to "he just rubbishes it". Don't try to convert him or convince him into religion and he won't try to convert or convince you into not having your faith. Simple AND respectful. He seems to be regularly misinterpreted by people who haven't bothered to actually listen to him but instead make incorrect assumptions about his intent.
