  • 青舞狮 “Green Lion Dance” or also known as the “Green Flat Faced Lion Dance”. Green Lion 青狮 is a lion dance 舞狮 art form in Fujian province 福建 believed to have its origins in the anti Manchu movements 反清复明 after the fall of the Ming dynasty in 1644. It is similar to the typical lion dance except that it is mainly green in color and with distinct round flat mask.

i think a hakka lion is more boxed shape.. this is a hokkien green lion.. i get the confusion both are green and they have the "wang" character on the forehead.. however the difference is the head, one is flat and one is boxed shape

@@ic3385 Hakka uses the wooden box shape Lion as well as this flat face. Depends on the kung-fu school...a lot of variations. :)

@@ic3385 I agree! Right'...it is, but if you listen to the video again, I mention that it covers Taiwan, FuJien, (Hakkien),& Hakka. It's even performed in some Southern areas of China proper. Just depends on the family lineage. :)

Very rare and educational. Is Tu-di John Spolarich doing combat with the lion at the end? Whoever made the captions in the video did a good job; they're bold and attractive.

Thank you David!! Yes , John represents the 'Ming' dynasty fighting the 'Ching' ( the Green Lion ) , and John did all of the amazing video production and graphics on this. :)
