    1. The key differences and similarities between the ELEMNT BOLT V2 and the BOLT V1
    2. If the V2 BOLT is better than the original V1

    Came across your review while waiting for my new V2 to arrive, I've been using a basic bike computer for the last 2 years but looking forward to all the upgrades that a more professional model offers. This by far was the best 18 minutes and 22 seconds of my day!

    Hi Monty, thanks for all your excellent and entertaining vids. I’ve read elsewhere that the bolt v2 MTB trails through woods are really unclear, thin brown lines almost indistinguishable from the woods. Could you offer any opinion on this? Cheers and thanks again.

    Hey! Great video's! they have really helped me make my decision!
    Just a quick question really..My bolt v2 came in the post today..and i was initially worried following the instructions..as the first step was 'press the on button'. But nothing was happening. Its now on charge and displaying the flashy battery icon! Good sign i hope!
    So its normal for it to come with no battery power is what im asking..
    Maybe not a quick question after all.
    Thanks happy rides!

  • @lcooperdesign
    @lcooperdesign 2 года назад +2

    Nice video Monty. I have the V1 and generally extremely happy with it. Only complaints are visibility in the bright sun (screen shine but also limited display brightness) and of course the re-routing. However I'll add that the lack of re-routing is only ever an issue for me in complex urban environments. It's no challenge at all getting back on to the correct road out in the places we'd actually like to be riding our bikes, such as your example at 02:49, but if you accidentally turn right at Clintons instead of W.H. Smith's on the high street and end up down a busy one way street you're screwed. Not sure if this is related, and therefore improved with the V2, but the compass is very laggy on the V1, this is most noticeable at roundabouts with many exits, good luck figuring out which exit you're at and which one you need. Saying that, best not to be looking down at your bike on a roundabout! Perhaps we should just learn to read signs again…
    Other notes: The LED's are useless and effectively fairy lights (look up at the road!) unless training indoors. And the Wahoo documentation explaining what each available stat field does is also useless (what's the scale of the Elevation page grid?).
    Would love to see a review from you on the Karoo 2.

    • @Sportivecyclist
      @Sportivecyclist  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, I'm note sure I've ever really viewed a bike GPS as equivalent to a car GPS in terms of your card shop/roundabout examples. Mainly that's because I am now able to avoid complex urban environments! I'd guess all bike GPS devices struggle a bit in the cities but I don't ride in them enough to back up that statement.
      I did buy a Karoo 2 but.... I might not even have taken it out of the box. It's on the list but... day job/family gets in the way.

    Can you do a comparison test of the 530 and bolt v2 navigation? Everyone keeps saying the bar in navigation sucks but I never saw a video about it

    Thank you for the videos. Need to replace my V650 which no longer sync since moving back to France... (syncing always been a massive Polar issues anyway..) As replacement, currently looking at BoltV2 or the Bryton 750, any recommendation?

    • @Sportivecyclist
      @Sportivecyclist  2 года назад +2

      I much prefer the BOLT V2. It is a lot more refined and easier to use. The navigation doesn't rely on you also carrying your phone (the Rider 750 seems to piggy back of your phone GPS). The BOLT isn't touchscreen, but i haven't found this a problem. Buttons can be better with gloves anyway. By the way, here's my latest (written) comparison of the BOLT V2 vs Garmin Edge 530: www.sportivecyclist.com/wahoo-elemnt-bolt-v2-vs-garmin-edge-530/

      Now there’s the question Esteban. I prefer the new BOLT but there is the odd feature (Climbpro) that I really like on the Edge 530. A video specifically on this question is in the works…

    • @Sportivecyclist
      @Sportivecyclist  2 года назад +1

      Sorry for the delay in responding. From memory, Wahoo say 15 hours, which is in line with the V1. I don't go on sufficiently long rides to really push the battery. However, I haven't particularly it needing more frequent charging than other devices.

    Great review but did i miss it ? no battery life compare between the 2 ??? Come on now that is kinda huge. Also I will say a type C charging point for a tired cyclist coming home to plug in is at least very important to me seeing how all my tablets and laptops have long since been type C.

    • @Sportivecyclist
      @Sportivecyclist  4 месяца назад

      This video is from a long time ago, so it's a while since I did a BOLT V1 vs V2 head to head. From memory, the BOLT V2 is marginally better (depending on your settings). People seemed to get 12 hours from the V1 and my sample size of one testing on the V2 was something like 15. Not amazing compared to recent Garmins. Re: USB-C - as I say, a few years is a long time in charging port terms. Apple were still allowed to use fire-whatnot then...

  • @nisbend
    @nisbend Год назад

    Nice review. I have the original and like you feel a bit 'real men don't need colour' but I'm reassured that it's been used sparingly/helpfully, not just as a ticked box.
    The only problem I have is with the buttons, which are peeling off, making it useless in rain. I understand this is a common complaint. Wahoo must be aware. Any idea if the new one improves on this?
    I like that the new buttons and screen are flush. I don't like to see water pooling on buttons and screen.
    USB C is an improvement, for sure. Micro USB will shortly be obsolete.
