  • The Grizzl-E Mini is a compact, 40A/9.6 KW, Canadian-made, UL Listed EV charger than also has smart features. I've been looking for a replacement for the Tesla Gen1 UMC that I currently carry with a Tesla Tap Mini on my 2022 Zero SR/S electric motorcycle because I know one day the UMC will fail (1 out of 2 already has).
The Gen2 Tesla UMCs with modular input adapters only provide 32A/7.7KW max and my Zero SR/S with dual chargers can take up to 12KW, so I want to maximize my input power.
[Edit] A fellow Zero enthusiast that I used "Amps" and "Kilowatts" indiscriminately.
Power (Watts) =~ [approximately] Potential (Volts) * Current (Amps)
I assumed a nominal 240V for this EVSE, so:
    240V * 40A = 9,600 Watts or 9.6 Kilowatts (KW)
    240V * 32A = 7,680 Watts o r ~ 7.7 KW
Some power outlets only provide 208 Volts, etc. so update the math/power appropriately.
In this video, I dive into the EVSE's features including the software interface and settings, portability, and adapters vis-a-vis the Tesla solution.

Yes, it's worth it in my opinion. This unit is on my wishlist of future purchases and your review definitely verified my initial impressions of the value.

You are literally the only person who has done a video on the mini.
    Have any updates for us?

No updates to speak of. It works and I only use it occasionally since I have other home EVSEs mounted on the wall. I really like the feature to be able to turn down the amps when you can't do it on the vehicle. For example, my Tesla will let me reduce the amps on the car's screen, but my Kia Niro EV and my Zero motorcycle don't have that capability.

When change the amp setting, does that remain when you unplug it or do you have to change it every time?

It's been sitting in the case for a while since I haven't ridden the motorcycle. I'll have to find that out. My guess is that yes, it retains the setting, but I'll test it out when I get the chance.

I just tried it and it kept the amp setting for me. I unplugged it set at 30A (40A is max) and then I plugged it back in a few hours later and logged back into the mobile we interface, it was still set at 30A. It makes sense that it has some non volatile memory, otherwise you would have to reset the scheduling function for off-peak charging every time which would be quite tedious.

@@0e-michigan Thanks so much for checking! I had asked Grizzle-E weeks ago through their web form and via email and they never responded.

The operating manual shows another option where you can open the charger up and use manual dip switches to override the app for a more permanent amperage limitation (e.g. if you consistently park in a condo garage with a 24 amp limit).
