great work guys, ive got a company van, the same as your hiace, here in nz ,this 4x4 hiace has done well over 500k,its just had the usual services, and still doesnt leak or use any fluids, apart from fuel, they are super reliable, depending on the thrashing they get from the steering wheel attendant,, they are not that fuel efficent,, but the company van would have 2/3 different drivers,that really dont care about fuel costs,i would guess that if treated carefully you will do fine on a tank of fuel , the van i drive is a 2007 model,these vans are super toyota reliable,your van will look great when you guys are done with it, good to see a young couple doing this sort of renovations to a good honest toyota van,good luck with the van renovations guys

Nice work guys! I'm looking at 4wd Hiaces at the moment for a conversion too. I'm wondering if you got the normal 'narrow' body one or a wider version? I know that the imports come in a wide body varient too. Cheers
Thanks Jose! We have the normal body and we also have the 3.0L diesel engine. Still yet to workout what sort of fuel economy we are getting as we have done very minimal driving in it so far and have not got to test it out fully. So far it seems quite reasonable, we are very curious to find out the fuel economy when we get the chance :)

First time I've seen those bushman uprights. They look brilliant and the dimensions are perfect especially the 50 or 65ltr. Also as I also have a upward opening rear door I have some tent poles and am planning to modify some awning side walls to turn that section into a proper Annex. As for lighting I am using some 5v LED strips controlled by an esp32 or esp8266 board flashed with WLED and some custom buttons. My goal is to be able to use it as a mobile office to. The elgrand is slightly smaller internally than the HiAce so effective use of space is a must.
@@TheColinWilliamson The bushman fridges are so much better than the esky style in our opinion! No more squished food at the bottom haha! Sounds like you've got some great plans :)
Looking good so far. 👍 I admit I'm a bit concerned about the amount of weight you've added with that excess wood. Don't think it should be too much of a problem but have you been taking into account the weight limit of the van, especially after you add all your stuff? 😅
Thank you! The van can hold up to 1000kg, we've put about 400kg in with the build, so will be fine once its packed too! The van definitely needs some weight in the back, it was quite bouncy when it was empty 😂
That’s a serious fit out, was not expecting this amount of detail. Definitely looking like a luxury camping set up so far.
