Huge props to Woody's camera work too (although he didn't shoot today's episode). You can always see what's being worked on (harder than it sounds when filming something as cramped as working on a car), camera movement is always nice and smooth so it doesn't feel like someone is dragging your head around, and it doesn't always go out of focus when changing targets. It's a shame that people only really notice (and comment) when camera work is bad, because he does a bloody good job. Onya Woody 👍
@@mrclown7469 True, as a photographer I can confirm that. I forgot to mention in my comment that there is huge progression on Woody's part as well. Quality work from the Skid Factory boiisss.
I feel like this channel is criminally under subscribed. Especially seeing the history it has with MCM. Regardless, keep up the quality work Al and Woody!!
My first car was a 1984 Daihatsu Charade 3 cyl 993cc. It did 1700000 km before it started to smoke. They sold brand new $8200au. Brilliant car when you had no money. Ironically, it saved my life a few times because it didn't have enough power to lose control haha. Don't see many around now.
Hell yeah Woody, bonus points for calling it a linisher instead of a grinder (like so many channels do)! I love when people actually know what they're using and share what they are, it makes finding them so much easier for those of us who want to get the right tools after seeing how they're used.
Toyota bought Daihatsu and that became Toyota’s small car division, the Yaris was sold as the last badged Daihatsu Charade overseas. I love these little Daihatsu’s thanks for making this video :)
Had a 92 G102 charade with NA 1.3L, was not real quick off line, but super fun, had coilovers, extracters and custom exhaust, bored out throttle body, custom intake, applause radiator, wheels etc. Cornering was incredible. Think the toyota starlet motor 1.5l was similar to daihatsu
you guys need to visit Malaysia , these are everywhere and regularly find them booting it at 160 clicks on the highway and correct pronunciation by the way
the way you explain stuff is great, we kind of hear your though process on why you do stuff and it's like a shortcut to knowledge or something. when i chose between high school "specializations" it was either programming or car mechanic (doesn't sound similar but it kind of is in terms of the creative aspect of the jobs) and this show makes me feel like i should've chosen car mechanic stuff. the physical progress and knowledge you gain feels like it is way more tangible and would be very rewarding.
we had two Daihatsu's sold here in the US- the Charade and the Rocky... the Rocky was more or less a Geo Tracker which later was a Chevy Tracker... (Don't ask- it was the Geo Program). I knew a kid shortly after high school that had a Charade and it, honestly, was unkillable. It refused to die. It was jumped, sent offroad, driven up ATV trails, driven into creeks, raced like a rally car.... what DID do it in was the very last jump. The oil pan was flattened upon landing and ended up saying hi there to a crankshaft spinning somewhere in the vicinity of 7000RPM's, not to mention the strut towers separated from the body and that was it... rust never sleeps here in the northeast.
Oh man how I miss my Cuore!! Had a L501 and did my first central locking and sound system install on it as well as my first respray. Knew that car inside and out
yes in malaysia this model was produced by Perodua called VIVA, powered by daihatsu 660, 850 and 1.0 cc engines. but we only get 4 doors model, no 2 door. i used to own one 850 manual model back then.
Love the content and i have zero mods but I've learnt so much since the MCM days that may well change in the future! Thanks for sharing the knowledge for us that don't know how to do these things. Think i missed my vocation in life that's for sure. Keep up the great vids!
Congrats on the Kato 300 acquisition Alan. This project looks good, I'm keen to see how this one turns out. I might try make it to the Power On Petrie event for a look with the WR on the back of the SS.
love the ktm,my mate had a go on my other buddies ktm300,with one blip it cost his 200 quid for new plastics as he came off the back of it with orange plastic flying everywhere.around about the same time i fell off my xr250 and broke 3 ribs....ouch....still hurting 5 weeks later, great vid guys!!
Speaking of Mud wasps. A mate and I rebuilt an old 1.6 litre Gemini into a 350 Chev eater. Problem was, the first time we blew off a 350 Chev powered ute, number 2 cylinder starved for oil because of a nest we missed and it kinda broke. My bad. The ute backed off when the smoke screen started. I felt bad. We'd spent nearly 2 grand (early 200s) and weeks of time rebuilding and street-hardening this thing. All new 'Heavy Duty' suspension and tyres with Nolathene bushes and solid engine internals. I really should have been more gentle with it on its first run.
Watching the show without having a car nor a drivers license, Europe city life, you never feel the urge to get one :) Still loving the show though, I just love engineering.
The applause was a 1.6 5 speed 4 wheel disc i flogged it for 3 years all it needed was 2 wiper blades a starter motor snd a cv joint it was the best little car and I couldn’t kill it it ended up out in the bush last I heard still runs 15 years later
Right around the 10 minute mark. Props Al on the Dunning Kruger reference. And that oil filter mount is messing with me. I just can't get over that (very) fragile looking aluminum banana hanging down there.
I have a 2012 KTM 300XC - good choice, Al! Not sure if it gets muddy where you ride but I recommend the M5B for the rear and running the fatty front. Cheers from Oregon!
Bring it along to the next sprint group booking Live2Dai have at Lakeside Raceway! Edit: the k3vet would’ve come out of a YRV turbo. And the Toyota 1.5 is the 3szve.
This whole time, I never knew what Turbo Yoda's ride was....Oh, it just happens to be a Daihatsu lololllll. I bet Marty talked him into it all those years ago xD

Called charade’s in the uk too. Believe the 1.3turbo engine you have is from the sirion rally2 or rally 4 which is a 1.3 Yaris engine that diahatsu stuck a turbo on, giving it 107bhp. 0-60 in 8.6 seconds so not a snail either.

It's been criminally under promoted in MCM!
Well, it is new, solo adventure... not like it has been around for years.
They've gained 125k subs in like 7 months, that's insane growth
thats because this is a bit above MCM fans, this is built not bought compared to bought not built, i dropped my mcm sub and now run this and benny
Been wearing the merch for months, wondering why MCM2 had no new Skid Factory goodness :/
Why did noone tell me there was a new channel!!
At least with this name, if the car breaks down on the road, you can declaim, "This charade can go no further." :)
my car's stock, I wrench vicariously through your vids!
Wrench?

Ok, got it thanks Nathan, i think it must be a North American term.
Think of all the money your saving by not owning a car Anthony.
"Yeah, I'll have air conditioning. That'll be cool. " Funny that!

Woody looks a bit like a super trooper I reckon. But hey brother its all love, I can't grow a moustache cause I suck

Japanese called it Daihatsu Avy and in Malaysia we called it Perodua Viva. this car has 3 version with different CC which is 660 cc, 850 cc & 1000 cc.
