Not really, When you first find diamond they tell you, you will be compensated for materials you bring back with you, and if you brought back any of the alien energy cubes you could very well pay it off.

Ikr, it's so well done, and the general atmosphere and attention to detail in this game is something I find most other games fail miserably at, it's why I love this game
I find the fact that your character actually covers his face when the piece of metal starts to come off the wall pretty funny, it’s like he learned from the life pod at the start of the game.
Literally finished the game last night, the debris field had me freaking out too. When that panel flew off the wall, I got a flashback to the first scene in the life pod when that panel flies off and knocks you out. Thankfully it doesn’t hit you. Even at the end of the game they still manage to master terror.
This game starts with you getting knocked out by a piece of metal and when you exit the lifepod from the top for the first time, you see the birds or whatever it is. It ends with you seing the birds or whatever they are, and you avoiding the piece of metal. Nice detail.
The worst part about all this isn't even paying the one trillion credits, the worst part about this ending is having to leave the cuddlefish behind !!! 😭😭

I accidentally killed my cuddle fish with my cyclops (not exactly sure how, the propeller I think but was escaping a reaper at the time) and I didn’t hesitate to quit game without saving and go back. No accomplishment was worth loosing my lil buddy

This was the first and last ending to a game that made me cry. Reminds you of everything, everything you have done, every peeper and bladderfish you had to grab, every reaper that scared the shit oit of you, and every moment that made you say nope. GG subnautica, my favorite game :D

This ending was one of the only game endings I nearly cried too because the game was so good. It really hit me with that last bit of dialogue from the Sea Emperor.

You cured a impossible disease, you (hopefully) saved the sunbeam ship, you’ve got access to alien technology (they said the alloy making the buildings was indescribably hard), and you’re the lone survivor from a planet that houses multiple leviathan class creatures, as well as being almost entirely water and *THE V O I D*.....
I cried when the credits rolled. This game was such a good experience and the amount of memories I had playing it was unbelievable. I left a very detailed time capsule with my phone number and my ig 🤣🤣🤣

Makes sense, the Cyclops is only rated for 500 meters, and they were at 3500 meters when they lost contact. Cyclops is also supposed to be much more advanced than Titan so it should be rated for greater depths, given that it's in the far future.

Unless planet 4546B has significantly different atmospheric pressure or gravitational differences, I would expect the depth rating to be inferior and 3500m would be well beyond the capacity of the Titan.

Let's not forget that ryley has the blueprints for an advanced battery and has the location of an infinite high energy source which could be invaluable to altera and the most noteworthy thing is that alterra has to do barely anything to achieve this except letting ryley in and making him the leader of a team with the goal of researching the alien bases and learning more about the production of ion crystals all in exchange for the debt of one person

I got serious goosebumps. The music is so cool! That cutscene had so many emotions! I felt amazed when the music started, I laughed my face off when the panel came off, because of the reference to the start, and I nearly cried when the sea emperor said goodbye
3:35 is where my tears started to flow freely. i’ve been with this game since like, early beta when the hud had bars instead of circles. hearing that music slowly fade out made me realize “holy shit. it’s actually over.”
There is a workaround for his balance. The alien spider robot. If you scan it, the PDA said “to capture for altera for mutual profit.” The company is actually willing to pay you, to bring them alien tec, because it’s more advanced than our own, and you’re the only one that found the spider droids.
Having played both subnautica and below zero, i love the little detail of Riley looking at that particular arctic area. A lovely little hint/nod to the next game I love this game so much, especially the sea emperor. The graphics, music, and story make for a great game that keeps you hooked and wanting to know just what happened here. After the added lore/story of the second game, i can’t wait for the third game

Makes sense, the Cyclops is only rated for 500 meters, and they were at 3500 meters when they lost contact. Cyclops is also supposed to be much more advanced than Titan so it should be rated for greater depths, given that it's in the far future.

@@atigerclaw even with the mk3 module, the Cyclops is only rated for 1700m, why would an inferior, early Earth prototype for the Titan be better? Unless planet 4546B has significantly different atmospheric pressure or gravitational differences, I would expect the depth rating to be inferior and 3500m would be well beyond the capacity of the Titan.
The complete silence as you board the spaceship is what got me in the feels, as i realized that it was over.

Let's not forget that ryley has the blueprints for an advanced battery and has the location of an infinite high energy source which could be invaluable to altera and the most noteworthy thing is that alterra has to do barely anything to achieve this except letting ryley in and making him the leader of a team with the goal of researching the alien bases and learning more about the production of ion crystals all in exchange for the debt of one person
He could sell that thing and get 1 trillion worth of credit (and possibly got promoted)

The fact that "abandon ship" played as the credit song made putted me on edge the first time, the songs is great but the circumstances where we usually hear it made me associate it with inminent danger

Remember when you first find a diamond, your pda informs you that all collected items are alterra property, and you will be further reimbursed. And at that point you had already collected over 2 million. So your not paying alterra. Alterra is paying you. I mean she does say “once you settle your *outstanding balance* of one trillion credits

That was easily the best adrenaline rush I've felt in a game so far
I got serious goosebumps. The music is so cool! That cutscene had so many emotions! I felt amazed when the music started, I laughed my face off when the panel came off, because of the reference to the start, and I nearly cried when the sea emperor said goodbye

I love this game so much, especially the sea emperor. The graphics, music, and story make for a great game that keeps you hooked and wanting to know just what happened here. After the added lore/story of the second game, i can’t wait for the third game

Altera sounds like it is most likely originated from the U.S.A as it’s capitalist English speaking was obviously a world super power and the protagonist is white so it’s likely not African or Asian. Making the big assumption of consistent inflation rates. And subnautica taking place in 2175. It’s only like 473 million usd.
Have you even seen the protagonist? He has Asian eyes. Besides anyone from any country can be employed by Alterra, they practically own the galaxy.
