They seem to have learned from the absolute flop of below zero and the mistakes in subnautica. The reason multiplayer was not added was because, one, the game was designed to be single player and would have it be overhauled to be multiplayer compatible, and two, because the game engine simply could not handle it well.
5:56 The questions, "What happened here? What happened to you? And more importantly, where are you?" These may be questions meant to tease the idea of what this world is, and what backstory the characters we play as have. And this might also hint at we either get to see a different encounter with the precursors on this new planet. Or possibly a different species of aliens (aside from the humans, of course).
I really hope they put more thought into the inventory - moving every single piece from vehicle to character to base storage one by one takes away all the fun from gathering - and also to tool variants in the modification station. You make stuff like the scanner, compass, repair tool etc. within the first hour and then never upgrade it, but also never take it out of your inventory because you need it for anything. The result is that items like a flashlight, head lamp or gravity gun either never get made or spend most of your playthrough in a locker because you need the inventory for other things. It would be nice if you could find blueprints for late-game multi-purpose tools, like a scanner with a flashlight, laser-repair tool, flare knife or rebreather with a compass, headlamp and scanner chip. Of course you would get it late-game and they would be expensive, slower or battery-intensive compared to final upgrade of their single-purpose counterparts, but I would so love it if just a few of these ideas made it in. Needing an early game item all the time feels like inventory tax, and the modification station has few recipes anyway. It would also be nice if vehicle storage module was upgadeable rather than stackable, so that you can use other slots for something else.
The one thing I don't like so far is the early access. I don't want to play the game until it's a completed experience because that's the most enjoyable way to play a story driven game, but I also don't want the story to be spoiled while I wait for the full release.
I remember Jacksepticeye saying this same thing when he played BZ playing early access made him (kind of) lose interest and it affected his overall experience with the game
I agree. Plus, the date is JUST for early access. Imagine how long we have to go completely spoiler free, which means a lot of work on social media, so it doesn't recommend sub2 spoilers. We are gonna be waiting way longer while hardly dodging tons of spoilers just to get the complete version of the game.
I think right now not seeing any more trailers or gameplay until the game is fully released would give the best possible experience. Would have to delete youtube though
@Mason5l82 probably for a year minimum until the full game comes out. Gosh, it's crazy the length we have to go through to not have spoilers these days.
Its also interesting to keep in mind, that building gets very different. If we are new on a different planet, like the first colonists. That would also mean, that there arent any wreckage parts, or abandoned bases to scan.
Agreed. A snapping feature for interior modules would be great. I didn't find it too bad how it is already though for a few reasons. When placing an object it's tranparant, and all the habitats have very distinct lines on the floor which you can use to space objects evenly. And most importantly, the object rotates WITH your view, rather than independently with key presses. This is a massive deal because it allows you to line objects up to a near perfect level with enough finesse, whereas rotating with key presses or mouse wheel will never give you that level of control. It's something Bethesda fucked up between Fallout 4 and Starfield and it's a MASSIVE fucking deal for me, hence this comment lol.
The evolving yourself thing is undoubtedly the development and implementation of the gene splicing mechanic that they had originally planned for Subnautica then scrapped for whatever reason.
Genetic manipulation sounds like a cool addition to the game. I'm already making theories about what kind adaptions you can make. Gills on the neck for underwater breathing, low-light vision for darker depths, collapsable lungs to help with underwater pressure and webbing between your fingers and toes for swim speed, and probably many more.
oh man losing your memory would be kinda cool! You mentioned that the AI of the ship was *insistent* you finished the mission, almost as if you yourself (and up to 3 friends) were to be disposed of as death fodder. Maybe you knew too much about alterra's interworkings, maybe you worked with a competitor to alterra, maybe you simply got too curious as an intern, and so they ship you off in a death vessel to an unknown world fully expecting you to die. But you don't! you crash land, and just like before, you learn about something deeper. It's not a disease this time, though. It's something within the function of the planet, maybe something has awakened, gone dormant, or the planet itself is doomed to perish. Whatever the world holds in store, i (and 3 unwilling friends) will traverse this alien planet and have a good time doing so :3
Are you sure you evolved at all? A human wouldn't wish for such a dumb thing - degrading willingfully, not even for 'moral' or anything, just for the sake of it.
I haven't seen anyone talk about the "mysterious ruins" that show up in the actual trailer at 0:21. It looks like an old subnautica base on the left and like a church or something on the right?
The "Evolve your genetics" part reminds me of a console command only tool from the first game that would take samples from creatures and would give certain boosts to the player; Glad to see that being put to use after who knows how long they've had it in the works
I find it interesting that it says "play up to 3 people" the PDA stated that the cyclops was intended for 3 people, which makes me wonder if they'll bring it back with an overhauled design.
If those wrist rockets are the replacement for the seaglide, ill be happy. That thing is big and clunky and in your face, also takes up a lot of inventory room, though i hope they keep the terrain map function and the headlights as well. I never bothered to make a flashlight because of the seaglide. Also science research would be a cool feature, allowing you find new tech and uses for each item in the wild
As long as we go back to a silent protagonist and no npcs it's gonna be a huge banger, if not then it'll be a regular banger. Edit: silent protagonist let's goooooooooo
Where was this said? I missed it It's literally THE most important thing to me for this game. I don't care I'd the dialog isn't as bad as the Forspoken-tier sassy quips of below zero or not, I want NO DIALOG other than a lifeless PDA talking at you If they fuck this one up, then it'll prove the first one was only accidentally good
Could just be me, but I think it would be cool to have the same tech as subnautica on like a lava or forest planet. Supposedly the emergency protocol is similar for all planets so it would be interesting to see how you would have to adapt
This should not be a skill tree. Skill trees are organized where the further you get the inherently better things get. I wanna see more lateral upgrades with a non linear progression.
it is set on obraxis prime, you know how at the start of subnautica 1 your PDA says "weapons were removed from regular fabricators after the massacre on obraxis prime" and there is a time capsule set by the developers which has a bunch of orders delivering to obraxis prime. so thats pretty cool.
Given the introduction of multiplayer, I can see them putting a heavy focus on base building and collecting resources. I don't mind a bit of that but, honestly, I only really enjoy it if it's in service of exploration which is the thing I most enjoyed about Subnautica. One of the biggest draws of the game was the horror/fear element and the isolated feeling contributes to that quite a bit, not sure MP is the right fit for that experience. A tailored in-game VOIP with some decent, reactive effects could be great for maintaining (or even enhancing) "immersion" while in MP.
I wouldn't mind more voice lines. I REALLY loved Al-LN and all the conversations with Robin! I'd really hope for a more talking, not all the time mind you but every once and a while would be nice!
I’m so excited. Personally I am mixed on the setting as a new planet as to me 4546B IS the planet of Subnautica and I wanted to explore more of the planet after Below Zero. But that’s just me.
I hope they have some good ideas over there. Things like the crashed Aurora ship from the first game WAS SO AWESOME. They need to make something that fills its shoes and then some. Same with leviathans. I want this world to be much bigger, with many more leviathan class creatures (and tbh, more GIANT creatures in general). I am really intrigued by this antagonist AI, that is such a cool story idea. Hopefully they find a way to make this story feel different and fit within the universe. I am a huge stickler for connecting storylines (to the point where it hurts my enjoyment of the game, EVEN if the gameplay itself is really good). I like the devs, hoping they can make it live up to, or better than the original!
i hope the base building is way better. i wish they would allow to make the tube module lenghts to be customizable and maybe add stairs (not ladders but a diagonal tube that goes up or down) and of course the medium large room from below zero that never got added for some reason. it would be cool if they would make a square room that you could connect by putting next to other square rooms to mkae unique shaped rooms. sorry im getting carried away here i just really love the potential that this games building system has
@jamespickles8952 I think that's pushing it a bit much to say they could have lived on multiple worlds, even if we really can't prove they didn't live on multiple worlds, the odds of that being a possibility is almost inconceivable, even for a game filled with things that are of that nature, yes. The devs are still gonna try and be as "realistic" as they can with how things are setup. I fully understand the point of it being a cool and fun idea and that's what games are about, but they are also suppose to carry their own weight and be their own image, liked for what they achieved, not to milk itself from a previous games glory. I think it's a cool idea tho just like how they made plushy, posters and toys and references to other games and the game itself in the form of decoration for bases, so that would be a cool way to "mention" it still that wouldn't be far fetched or too intrusive.
So there might be an attribute system based on samples gathered from local flora/fauna? Sounds like a neat motive for exploration. I wouldn't want the skill tree to be too complex though, this doesn't feel like a character-building game to me. Although, coming back to base to find my friend has evolved into some kind of horror-beast would be amusing.
It would be so cool if the AI is like "you're on planet 4546B! You're here to complete the mission!" But once you're outside at night, there's one too many/less moons and you realize: you're not on planet 4546B. The AI, the only thing keeping you sane in the 1dt subnautica, the only thing that helped you and guided you is LYING TO YOUR FACE! You cannot trust the AI. Player: "I am certan we're not on planet 4546B." AI" whaaaat? No, you're wrong! This IS planet 4546B! Now, go complete the mission!" Player: "No, the number of moons is wrong. What is the mission anyway?" AI: " ...." Player: "What is the mission?" AI: :)
I can’t wait to deconstruct base pieces as my friend places them side note: maybe it takes place on another planet of the 4546 planets. other side notes: multiplayer means you know what: mimics (duh duh duhhh)
I think the genetic system in this game will be a replacement for the upgrading system in the original. For example, in the original game, you should choose between the swim charge or the ultra glide fins, each with their own pros and cons. It may be like that, like for example (and I'm just going off my head here) you could scan a fast but unagile beast, and then implant its own genes into yours, increasing your speed, but making your turns wider as a player. I think there is so much opportunity off a genetic system. Imagine a large scale submarine piloted by multiple people, where one person has fire resistant and high pressure genes for maintenance, and the pilot has high awareness and tactility genes for better piloting skills. I mean really it is such a cool mechanic that I really hope they don't screw up, it would be so fun to play with multiple people, each person literally being genetically built for a different niche, coming together to beat the game
What is needed ( i think ) is more information about the Alien Fish out there. Give them a reputation. On earth we fear sharks because of the stories and movies. At no point in time was i ever afraid of Bonesharks, Sandsharks or Stalkers. A data pad entry of a witness telling us what happened to somebody would intensify an encounter that much further. "Data log 420, Johnson died today, he was shredded by one of those Sand Sharks. It bit it leg right off! all i could do is watch ithappen from a far as the creature laid into him. i can still hear his screams over the coms.... Never going back to that red plant field again..."
This genetics system was supposed to be in subnautica 1. The idea was like inject yourself with dna from a reaper and you could potentially be strong enough to survive or thrive if you do it right.
6:30 this reminds me of a theory about Marguerit, about how she wasn’t affected by the kharaa virus because of how she lived and fed off of a reaper and consuming it changed her in a way🤔
I have a theory that the new leviathan is something like the warper, based on appearance it looks like the warper such as head shape and tentacles. I think it could be something that the precursors built in fear of something else breaking out, is meant to kill anything that tries to escape other creatures by going deep in the water, or Altera tried to copy the precursors technology and messed up.
This is my theory also i started playing subnautica nine days ago and my biggest achievement is a prawn suit so what I’m saying might not be correct. My theory is that the ‘new world’ is the world the aliens came from with diseases in most of the world, hence the reason there is ruins, maybe a few centuries after this first subnautica or below zero happend after looking at that giant ass creature that looks like a leviathan type species. Or maybe all of the original sea life has evolved into the creature we saw in the trailer.
i would love for them to show us living in alterra and we faint and wake up on the planet , and by doing story quests we get flashbacks of what happened

I think right now not seeing any more trailers or gameplay until the game is fully released would give the best possible experience. Would have to delete youtube though
@Mason5l82 probably for a year minimum until the full game comes out. Gosh, it's crazy the length we have to go through to not have spoilers these days.
@@quak420i Cant even Play early acces because i am on Playstation... I guess i need to wait for the whole Release then 😂
Its also interesting to keep in mind, that building gets very different. If we are new on a different planet, like the first colonists. That would also mean, that there arent any wreckage parts, or abandoned bases to scan.
i pray for an optional grid lock system for base building to spare my sanity
The co-op experience is gonna go Crazy. I'm prepping my role-playing voice impersonations.
"With the power of friendship we send you, deadly super leviathan, back to the depths of 4546C" is gonna be insane
Anth had an interview with one of the developers and if i’m not mistaken it was said that this takes place after Below Zero in a different planet.
If it's multiplayer I'd love for customization to be a thing. That'd be cool.
Whatever the world holds in store, i (and 3 unwilling friends) will traverse this alien planet and have a good time doing so :3
I cant wait to devolve from a human instead of evolving so i can be monke
Are you sure you evolved at all? A human wouldn't wish for such a dumb thing - degrading willingfully, not even for 'moral' or anything, just for the sake of it.
@@ojrthatneverojr3030 it simple... monke has no problems, i do
The nature, the lighting, it all looks so lifelike. The graphics will look just like the concept art 🤩
I haven't seen anyone talk about the "mysterious ruins" that show up in the actual trailer at 0:21. It looks like an old subnautica base on the left and like a church or something on the right?
Make it VR Supported!! LOVE playing Subnautica in VR.
Saw this before it hit ten minutes and your content never ceases to amaze me
The "Evolve your genetics" part reminds me of a console command only tool from the first game that would take samples from creatures and would give certain boosts to the player; Glad to see that being put to use after who knows how long they've had it in the works
im super hyped for this
Same
Finally, I don't have to be scared and alone...
I can be scared with friends
I just saw the trailer and I thought it was just another fan made but I’m so glad that this is actually happening! I need to finish below zero now 😅
I find it interesting that it says "play up to 3 people"
the PDA stated that the cyclops was intended for 3 people, which makes me wonder if they'll bring it back with an overhauled design.
Love ur vids bro they make me so happy
Did anyone else notice the ruins in the background during the trailer? You can see them right before the guy gets sucked into the water tunnel thing.
I feel like it not being on the same planet kind of takes away the uniqueness of 4546B
I mean 3 games on the same planet that we dont need to be on anymore amd has no real purpose anymore would be extremely boring and just repetitive
Exactly. I wouldn't be surprised if this planet was seeded with 4546B's wildlife, or vice versa.
@@Fin_Gleam Oh I like that idea
@@Fin_Gleamthat would fit nicely with our DNA manipulation that seems to be going on
If those wrist rockets are the replacement for the seaglide, ill be happy. That thing is big and clunky and in your face, also takes up a lot of inventory room, though i hope they keep the terrain map function and the headlights as well. I never bothered to make a flashlight because of the seaglide.
Also science research would be a cool feature, allowing you find new tech and uses for each item in the wild
00:38 there are ancient ruins in the background
Eagle eyes
That means nothing and everyone saw that I’m assuming that those ruins will mean nothing in this game
@@Canadian_snowman lol
@Canadian_snowman to many your comment may also mean nothing and assumption is the mother of all f$@k ups
@@Canadian_snowmanyou didn’t even see the vid look at 3:58
Thats it im gonna start you in subnatica back wards on deathrun
I hope the protagonist is a strong sassy woman of color that doesn't ever stop talking ever.
From the limited info of the trailer, it looks like they'll be silent.
It's funny that the developer team is ONE HUNDRED percent white and there's not a single white character
@pepenero6168 Degasi crew? Aurora crew? Most of them sounded white lol
Uggghhhh uhhhhhhhh OHhhhhhhh hayll nawwwwww that's be a leviathan.- new ai dialogue
This looks like a tropical subnautica game! I’m so happy I have always wanted that.
As long as we go back to a silent protagonist and no npcs it's gonna be a huge banger, if not then it'll be a regular banger.
Edit: silent protagonist let's goooooooooo
Where was this said? I missed it
It's literally THE most important thing to me for this game. I don't care I'd the dialog isn't as bad as the Forspoken-tier sassy quips of below zero or not, I want NO DIALOG other than a lifeless PDA talking at you
If they fuck this one up, then it'll prove the first one was only accidentally good
brooooo~ subnautica community is so ALIVE! LEZGOOOOOW!
I love the pokemon reference
Could just be me, but I think it would be cool to have the same tech as subnautica on like a lava or forest planet. Supposedly the emergency protocol is similar for all planets so it would be interesting to see how you would have to adapt
This should not be a skill tree. Skill trees are organized where the further you get the inherently better things get. I wanna see more lateral upgrades with a non linear progression.
3:10 - Most scarry line in video games history
A sheckle for anyone that can tellcme the song at 1:01
I've been trying to find out for over a year now.
I can’t find it 😭 somebody said that it was blade runner but it’s not. I think it’s from a horror movie.
It’s the music from hereditary, the horror movie
Reborn by Collin Stetson. I think they used the same song for the final scene of the grand tour. Might have been where you first heard it!
it is set on obraxis prime, you know how at the start of subnautica 1 your PDA says "weapons were removed from regular fabricators after the massacre on obraxis prime" and there is a time capsule set by the developers which has a bunch of orders delivering to obraxis prime. so thats pretty cool.
My theory suggests that the leviathan in the trailer might be a giant alien who built those alien bases
So a NEW world! That's good. Can't wait for this.
I can only imagine someone who has never seen a mono vid wathcing this and watching a more mono-ier vid
LMAOOOOO You’re absolutely right 😭😭😭
What does it mean?
I seen the trailer. I love it and I have both the first two games on my PlayStation five.
Sadly it isn't gonna be on playstation
I hope to god that every leviathan actually has a special purpose instead of HE HE BIG THING GRAB YOU AND HURT YOU HEHE
I always wanted to play Subnautica with my friend I’m so happy they’re making this one multiplayer
one thing i did see is that if you go into tags, there is one that says "choices mater" witch i thought was interesting.
I like the devs, hoping they can make it live up to, or better than the original!
i hope the base building is way better. i wish they would allow to make the tube module lenghts to be customizable and maybe add stairs (not ladders but a diagonal tube that goes up or down) and of course the medium large room from below zero that never got added for some reason. it would be cool if they would make a square room that you could connect by putting next to other square rooms to mkae unique shaped rooms. sorry im getting carried away here i just really love the potential that this games building system has
I wish that the gargantuan leviathan could make an appearance
Unlikely considering this is an entirely different world
@@leofhr2966 I know but I still hope it at least gets a mention. cause there's no evidence that says that they didn't live on multiple worlds
Gargantuans are extinct for millions of years
@jamespickles8952 I think that's pushing it a bit much to say they could have lived on multiple worlds, even if we really can't prove they didn't live on multiple worlds, the odds of that being a possibility is almost inconceivable, even for a game filled with things that are of that nature, yes.
@@leofhr2966 ok ok it was just wishful thinking. I love big monsters is all
So there might be an attribute system based on samples gathered from local flora/fauna? Sounds like a neat motive for exploration. I wouldn't want the skill tree to be too complex though, this doesn't feel like a character-building game to me.
Although, coming back to base to find my friend has evolved into some kind of horror-beast would be amusing.
It would be so cool if the AI is like "you're on planet 4546B! You're here to complete the mission!"
But once you're outside at night, there's one too many/less moons and you realize: you're not on planet 4546B.
The AI, the only thing keeping you sane in the 1dt subnautica, the only thing that helped you and guided you is LYING TO YOUR FACE!
You cannot trust the AI.
Player: "I am certan we're not on planet 4546B."
AI" whaaaat? No, you're wrong! This IS planet 4546B! Now, go complete the mission!"
Player: "No, the number of moons is wrong. What is the mission anyway?"
AI: " ...."
Player: "What is the mission?"
AI: :)
Having an AI insist that a "pioneer" carry on with the mission (while questioning their decisions) sounds very........satisfactory.
bro if subnautica 2 has servers or 3+ players it will be complete disaster
1:07 i hope thats not a leviathin, i need to be scared
the squid is possibly a minigame type boss that you have to dodge and sneak around to get to a special place
I can’t wait to deconstruct base pieces as my friend places them
side note: maybe it takes place on another planet of the 4546 planets.
other side notes: multiplayer means you know what: mimics (duh duh duhhh)
Imagine the leviathan at 1:17 has a duck bill. It would be the Quacken.
I love your video, no introduction, no other bs that other RUclipsrs do! Only related information, Thanks dude, you are the best ❤
Markiplier is gonna have to play with Bob and wade
This genetics system was supposed to be in subnautica 1. The idea was like inject yourself with dna from a reaper and you could potentially be strong enough to survive or thrive if you do it right.
It would be cool if we could have a seaglide early game giving you the opportunity to upgrade to those (hopefully better) wristbands later on
6:30 this reminds me of a theory about Marguerit, about how she wasn’t affected by the kharaa virus because of how she lived and fed off of a reaper and consuming it changed her in a way🤔
He got so excited for multiplayer he turned on the hereditary theme
I have a theory that the new leviathan is something like the warper, based on appearance it looks like the warper such as head shape and tentacles. I think it could be something that the precursors built in fear of something else breaking out, is meant to kill anything that tries to escape other creatures by going deep in the water, or Altera tried to copy the precursors technology and messed up.
what id like to see is a peaceful mode where there arent any predetors and you can just swim around and build things... pretty much all i wanna do
This is my theory also i started playing subnautica nine days ago and my biggest achievement is a prawn suit so what I’m saying might not be correct.
Ooh will we have an AI like in Alien that wants dangerous life forms for the weapons division?
