This video has been so helpful and has given me so many ideas on how to set up my gravel garden. Even though my garden area is very small, your video has prepped me in setting up my garden successfully like having a weed mat under the stones. I didn't know about this step and I am glad I learnt that through your video as I am sure it would have saved me alot of maintenance work later on. Thanks so much for uploading this and sharing your knowledge and experience.
Hi Fatima, glad to be of assistance! Yes the weed mat will save you a lot of trouble. You may well still get the odd one popping up as we have but it certainly represses the majority of them!
I living in north Texas, summer time is extremely hot and during winter time can get very cold . Killing my back yard grass . I’m planning to spread 2-3 inches river rock around it . I love grass but is very very hard to keep it a live.
This has been the most helpful and educational video on gravel gardens. Thank you so much. I specially liked hearing about the shape and materials one should consider depending on the location and situation
Very informative, thank you. Is there a particular method for laying the stepping stones/flags? I want to lay some single flags amongst the gravel as a pathway. Thank you.

This was amazing to watch as it's is so informative and easy to follow. I was going to leave my grass down and put a membrain on top now I realised I'll have to remove the grass. This really grave me tip on everything I needed in one short video Thanks for this 😊
we were thinking of putting gravel over a flat concrete boxed in area of our garden just to make look more attractive. is this OK to do? have you got any helpful tips of this if it is OK? get video. with lots of great tips and information. thanks
Hi, how does this function with water or rain fall? Will the water stay on the mem bering? Is there a way for the water to escape? I am worried that with heavy and continuous rainfall, the water will have no place to go. Thanks !
Hi Sylvanian, glad to hear you like the video, thank you for your feedback. We sell products that can be described as beach shingle but I'm not 100% sure what sort of product you are after. Great video. Some super designs. I noticed some of the designs have slabs placed among the gravel. Do you cement those or just lay them as they are and surround them with gravel stone? Thanks.
You can actually do either. We would advise you use cement/mortar as there is less chance of them moving around or being displaced. However you can just place the stone down and surround with gravel.
We just put In a pea gravel rock garden. Finding lots of tiny spiders wantuung to crawl up and bite. Can rock pea gravel areas be treated sprayed with anything to prohibit lessen spiders bugs? Help...
Extremely informative! You made it very easy to design my upcoming landscape project. One question, though: How do you account for drainage in sloped areas with the landscape fabric (and possibly the gravel)? Should I tamp the soil under the fabric down? Thank you!
We are delighted to hear that you found the video informative, thank you for the feedback. In regards to drainage, it depends on how sloped the area is. If very sloped and there is nowhere for the water to go then we would suggest you even the ground underneath the fabric and the gravel otherwise water will pool and may discolour your gravel. If it is only slightly sloped then the water should drain away fine through the membrane and the soil.
Thank you for your feedback, lovely to hear you found the video helpful. If you have killed off the grass then yes the weed membrane would stop it from growing as it shuts off all sunlight for which grass needs to grow. If you haven’t killed off the grass then the odd bit might find its way through over time but it should supress the majority of it.
HI Hong-Mai, There are lots of online tools for this. Ours is here - www.stonewarehouse.co.uk/tools/calculator you just put in your measurements and it works it out for you.
Hi Desiree, you are best to talk to a landscaper who can check the levels in your garden. However you don't need the garden to be completely level to lay gravel.
As long as the water has somewhere to drain away then there won't be a problem. Rain runs through the gravel and the fabric is porous so drains through in into the ground beneath.

He means that the audio is grating or vibrating a bit. It's as if you are too close to the microphone. Quite hard on a person's ears - no offence - just being honest. Good video otherwise. Thank you. Much Love from Scotland, ❤ X ...
how to rob nature of another ancestral land from which they previously raised their families. I don’t think you can call it a garden if it isn’t green.

I live out of the city so I can't waste as much water for grass. This is a nice substitute. Also less maintenance.
Would you agree that using a gravel stabilisation grid would make a big difference by stopping the gravel from moving around when you walk on it?

The membrane is porous so water drains through to the soil below.

What size/type of gravel would you recommend for an area with a picnic table and seating?
Pea shingles
I want to drop several tonnes of beach shingle on my garden. Where's the best place to order that from.. Thanks for the vid very good x

Will heavy rain make the gravel damp and unwalkable? Especially so with the fabric underneath

My backyard is on a slope will this work?
It depends on how much of a slope it is. You can use gravel grid to help keep gravel in place on sloped areas.

Hi Kevin, It may be appropriate to remove any ants nests before laying the membrane. Thank you.

Pardon?
What's going on with your voice, lady
The weed membrane which you have used is not good for the soil. The quality of the soil deteriorates and eventually you can not grow any plants
The idea of the membrane is to stop plants from growing...
