There are several different routes by trains and buses from KIX to Osaka City Center and Kyoto, but it might be a little complicating for the first time visitors. So I'll explain, what choice is available for you.

    Update on JR's Haruka: Haruka will make a stop at JR Osaka Station (underground platform)from March 18, 2023. Haruka runs from 6:31 am (6:40 am weekend) to 22:16, every 30 min. It takes about 47 minutes to JR Osaka Station. All Haruka also go to Kyoto Station.

      @Tokyo Kenchan I am travelling to Japan in Oct. Arrive at Kansai airport and am supposed to go to Kyoto on my own. I have never been to Japan before and don't speak your language. Should I get a taxi to go from Osaka to Kyoto? Will it be cheaper you think?

    • @tokyokenchan

      @@psyloo8966 Hello. You can take taxi, but it's very expensive. I recommend train "Haruka" that leaves every 30min. from right in front of the arrival gate. At the arrival floor, go up to the 2nd floor by escalator, walk across the bridge and proceed to JR station. You can also take the bus, but Haruka is more convenient.

      Looks like Grand Fressa is close to Exit No.6 of Nipponbashi Station on Metro Sakaisuji line. You can get off at Tengajaya (2 stations before Namba) and change to Sakaisuji line in the same platform, but it seems train doesn't run that time. So either walk or take a taxi from Namba.👍

    Hi, thanks so much for all the info. I do have some doubts though and would like to clarify. We will be arriving by air to Osaka on October, and have hotel reservation in Kyoto. We are buying the JR pass for sure. So we will need to go from KIX to Kyoto. In your video you are indicating that the Haruka direct will cost us 1,800 Yens if paying with ICOCA, however, on line it is mentioned that : How to get from Kansai Airport to Kyoto?
    The Limited Express Haruka is the only direct train service from Kansai Airport to Kyoto station. The one-way trip takes around one hour and fifteen minutes and is free with the Japan Rail Pass. The itinerary is the same as going to Osaka, but getting off two stations later.
    Also, the Japan Travel App by Navitime, when I choose to give me ONLY the route which fare IS INCLUDED in JRPass, gives me the "Fare Included in Pass/Ticket" Haruka 38 to Kyoto Station, Non reserved seat leaving at 16:14 pm (We arrive at 2:40pm so giving some time to buy IC card and walk to tickets area).
    So, do I have or not to pay for the Haruka (direct) fare?

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi. Thank you for watching. If you have JR pass, JR's Haruka is included in the pass so you don't need to pay for any extra to go to Kyoto. Have a great trip. :)

      @@tokyokenchan Thanks for answering !! this clarifies it. Then another question. We will be staying in Kyoto for 4 days and then in Tokyo for 6 days. From Kyoto we plan to visit Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Hikone...do you think it will be optional to buy the Kansai Area or Kansai Thru pass? or Kyoto sightseen pass? Other long distance trips from Tokyo will include Nikko and Lake Kawagujiko , then tour Tokyo. Do you think the Tokyo Wide pass would be necessary? or is enough the JR pass to visit Tokyo neighborhoods?

    I'm literally so overwhelmed. My family's only staying in Osaka/Kyoto for 3 days but I'm responsible for figuring out how to take the trains and buses but the language barrier 😭😭 And different people recommend Icoca/Suica/Pasmo/JR pass and even ICOCA&HARUKA(this is what I'm interested in but idk if I can travel from Kyoto to Osaka and within the two cities also) but WOW doing research on each is such a pain. We have to make the most of our day since we're only there for a short time before heading to Korea so we're going to be taking the train/bus a lot... any recommendations? And like if I were to get an Icoca pass for example, how do I know the routes/times/where to even take the train.
    This happened to me in San Francisco (NO language barrier lol) where I bought a pass but when I got on a bus they didn't accept mine so I had to walk and it was so embarrassing and honestly frustrating because why can't they all just combine into ONE PASS that works for everything.
    Anyways, this comment is BEFORE I watch the video so I'm praying my questions will be answered hahaha. IF ANYONE HAS ADVICE I am so open to any and all suggestions. Like I said, it's stressful when I should be excited for the trip hahaha. TIA 🙂

      To make your stay simple, 1. You can get ICOCA and Haruka tickets at JR station after your arrival at KIX. (Only JPY cash can be used
      So exchange to JPY if needed) 2. Top up the ICOCA if balance is not enough during your 3 days.
      3. Use Google map and see where you are now, and find the nearby station. 4. Get” Japan Travel” by Navitime app, type the station near you
      and destination. Find the train the app shows. Please see my Osaka and Kyoto videos too if you are interested ruclips.net/video/_qrKXTEP3aI/видео.html
      And ruclips.net/video/ija0FSZtZwI/видео.html
      I know it can be stressful to take your family especially when you want them to enjoy the precious trip. You might need some research and
      decision what to take and not among many spots. But once all set, I hope you don’t worry too much and enjoy the trip too!

      @@tokyokenchan THANK YOU for your reply! I'm not too worried about the places we're going, I have most of that settled.
      It's mostly just the transportation that's the most worrisome. For your #3 suggestion, does the app show which routes I can use with ICOCA? I went on the website and looked at the route map and there was something that said icoca can only be used at the locations with the diamond mark but I don't even need to go to those places and there are only a few. Does the app show the specific trains and buses I'm allowed to use? Someone told me ICOCA works for all trains and buses (except the bullet trains)...
      SO SORRY for bombarding you with questions, you have no idea how thankful I am for your reply.
      And for sure, I've been watching your videos nonstop for other recommendations. They're super thorough :)

      Only 2 buses in the afternoon 15:15, 18:55 goes to Shinsaibashi directly, so you might want to take train or bus to Namba and change to Midosuji Line or taxi there. Shinsaibashi is only 1 stop from Namba.

    I am flying to Osaka this coming June. A few questions from me:
    1) I plan to stay at Namba area. So the best train to take is JR Haruka or Nankai Rapit?
    2) Can I ride either JR Haruka or Nankai Rapit by tapping IC card (ex. ICOCA and SUICA) without purchase the ticket?
    3) Is SUICA IC card acceptable in Kansai area (ex. Osaka and Kyoto) especially for train?
    4) Is Shin Osaka and Namba the same station?
    Looking forwards to your response and thanks in advance

    • @tokyokenchan
      @tokyokenchan  Месяц назад +1

      In case you are going to Namba station, (1) either Nankai's regular train or Rapit are convenient. (2) You cannot get on directly to Rapit with IC card, but you can reserve with the balance at the counter of Nankai at Kansai airport station. (3) Yes, you can use Suica in Kansai area too. (4) Shin Osaka is north of the Osaka city, and it's about 16 min. from Namba by subway Midosuji line. Hope you have a great trip.
