President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore conducted a joint press conference at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace on August 15, 2024.
The leaders highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two nations, with Singapore being a key trade and investment partner.
The event included the presentation of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs): one on carbon credits under the Paris Agreement that aims to reduce carbon footprints and another on the recruitment of Filipino healthcare workers that will ensure their protection while meeting healthcare demands.
President Marcos Jr. also mentioned upcoming agreements between Philippine local governments and Singaporean businesses.
President Shanmugaratnam emphasized the mutual benefits of the new agreements and expressed interest in further collaboration on economic sustainability, digital transformation and biodiversity conservation.
