Browning and Gaskin owned Wazzu while playing for the Dawgs. as good as the Cougs have been recently, they just can't get it done against UW. Props to them for playing the Husky fight song for members of the marching band who were involved in that crash and couldn't make it. That was class.

Leach has significantly upgraded WSU's football program. But the one glaring problem with his approach is that it's not built to grind it out on the ground on bad weather days like today. And you're going to get a lot of days like this in the Pac-12 North.
You can't blame the pac-12 north for this one. That is their home stadium. Cougs weren't complaining in 1992 when they beat Washington in the snow. The snow wasn't the problem.
@RJG 71.....not sure what game u were watching but our run game faired just fine....hard to “grind it out” on the ground when you arent handed the rock....Gaskin was given the ball 27 times to J Williams 10 lol you would have been better pointing out the obvious fact that with weather the AirRaid attack is a bit flawed not the Rushing Attack

@@stanvanourek22 Yea I think this is the problem and a problem with mike leach overall. Hes just unwilling to adjust his game approach when its pretty obvious that some teams demand that. I think with both rb's in and some of our bigger guys in a tight end role, we could have came into the game with a triple option air raid mix that would have given us a better chance. But no, its got to be air raid in the shotgun all the time. Obviously they couldn't try new stuff mid game but I am hoping next year, leach will adopt a more run/pass neutral attitude that will allow us to to shake things up against strong pass defenses like call and uw. The Snow did play an issue insofar as that our squad this year is much better than in years past and with no snow the plan of stay the course might have been enough for the W. But the Snow could have been a non-factor if the approach was adjusted. Imo Borgi and Williams are good enough as are the front 5 that a strong Running game could have been created.
State blew all the chances they had to win.. Washington is just built better to run the ball in the weather...
Washington is just a bigger, stronger, more talented football team. Nobody couged anything.

what "chances"???? both WSU scores were gifts....a 43 yd drive and a 23 yd drive...one because of UWs bad special teams and one because of jake browning fumbling at the 23....you literally couldnt move the ball...

@@buckfuttler2877 end of the half we had time for 2 plays imo. 8 sec after that last play with 3 and 7. Should have gone for something better than the hail mary to get williams into run position. Additionally, we should have run the ball more. but air raid so yea.

Peterson has turned this program around from the years of Slick Rick and The Communist Barbara Hedges. The Offense is totally different with Gaskin in the backfield. He keeps those safeties up in the box. Coach Peterson will keep adding the talent to the roster. WSU just can’t compete in the recruiting, just like the Don James and Lambright years.
Mike Leach is the most polarizing coach, it’s just difficult like no way a team like WSU is ranked this high and finishes 10-2 without him but at the same time every year he comes into this rivalry game and just has no clear game plan or schemes to beat this team, uw could have scored at the end if they wanted could have been 35-15 being another blowout
Derek Johnson his game plan is air raid buy that just doesn't work against the dawgs
The air raid is scary though. This is the one year I was worried about the apple cup. In past years our offense has been successful. This year our offense was stagnant an I didn't know if our defense could have kept us in the game without help from the O. But the blizzard put those to rest.
I want a dvd of this game. I don't know if I've ever enjoyed watching a game more than this one. Absolute madness lol.
As someone who closely followed the entire Leach decade at Tech this is par for the course. He will get an unlikely team in the absolute best positions imaginable and lay an egg in games like this. He never loses close in big games either because it's either a beat down by the other team or last second Leach victory.

Air Max The Legend Killer yeah injuries and suspect coaching at times killed our playoff chances just hope we can beat Utah again because they are a completely different team from earlier in the season gonna be a tough game.

Texas like Washington will dominate Oklahoma and should also be unbeaten 2 of the 3 losses were questionable by the poor refs and were by 3 or less points. So yeah BIG12 and PAC 12 miss out. Hook’em!! Texas should be 12-0 or 11-1, at a minimum.

You would think Leach would have a game plan for inclement weather coaching in a place like Pullman where pretty much every late November game is freezing cold and/or snowing. Petersen has his number. I think Leach has taken WSU as far as he can. It's pretty much impossible to recruit elite talent to a place like Pullman and the air raid offense isn't built to win a championship. As evidenced in this game, you have to be able to grind it out on the ground and play solid defense.
Unfortunate weather for an air raid team. Wanted to see Mike Leach get a shot at a title. Wouldn't be surprised if he leaves Wazzu.

the best chance the cougars had in years to finally beat the huskies was not helped by a sudden weather system. weather can affect one teams style more than another. a bit of common sense could help you with that.

The score may have shown a win for Huskies, but they always cheat to win. So many calls that would have changed the outcome of the game that were purposely missed. The refs managed the momentum of the game, not the players. Husky players were so classless doing snow angels on the field after the win, embarrassed if I were a Fusky. 🐾🙀
