And if you notice Tyrone Whittingham stays at Utah, that's exactly what Oregon needs, a coach that doesn't bail on them. And now we've learned Oregon lost their offensive coordinator as he took the job at Arizona, or was it Arizona State? Well here's hoping Dan Lanning hangs around for a few years. Great programs are built when coaches stay.
This game reminds me of the michigan vs ohio state game in a lot of ways and it's funny cuz Utah and michigan run similar styles and ohio state and usc run similar offenses

Rock solid defense, combined with some absolutely absurd offensive plays, were all they needed to very literally push through to victory.

Statistically he played well (save for the meaningless interception), and I think its pretty clear that the rest of his team let him down. The run game was bad, the o line played horribly, and the defense couldnt tackle for their life. There really wasnt a whole lot he could do, and I think he is still alive in the heisman race
I'm not a fan of Utah but I say there Qb was MVP, he threw balls that I know a lot of other QBs would have been too scared to throw, and best of all the ball was right on the money every time, well deserved win from Utah

Williams needed to win one game. This one! Didn’t do it. Don’t tell me he was injured, the media made it seem like he was unstoppable. Utah played amazing. Loved how Urban Meyer (sp?), put it; they didn’t adjust, they had a game plan and stuck to it. Utah didn’t panic, and executed on both sides of the ball. When Caleb got hurt it was trouble, the one trump card SC had was his mobility and big time playmaking with his legs. When he was going on all cylinders in the 1st quarter Utah couldn't figure out how to contain him. His injury made him one dimensional and the Utes could just stay home on everyone, made it very hard to for SC to keep the offense up. Utah is just a more complete team at this point. Caleb could have pulled some magic out of his hat if he was 100% and willed them to a victory MAYBE, but tbh the Trojans would have gotten exposed badly in the CFP coz their defense is just not there yet. A recruiting class or two will change that though. Great season by SC for a 1st year with a new regime, but tbh even as a Trojan fan, i think they ended up where they probably should be. It was a bit of an overachieving season for them.

Great win for Utah. They are much better than their 3 losses imply. They had the Florida game won if not for the costly interception at the goal line with just seconds to play. It was just one of those years where the mistakes in their games came at crucial moments. Hope they win their bowl game.
Honestly I think USC shot themselves in the foot. They've had so many turnovers through the season they never really needed to tackle, just strip the ball and get picks. When they play against a good coached team like Utah who hold onto the ball the defense collapse

Our program is back, that's what I care most about. We will have tough luck some years but by all appearances we are gonna be in the conversation for quite awhile. We have skill players for days, but we need some beef, our defense fights and is opportunistic but we got physically manhandled way too often on the line. When freaking Cal can march down the field on us, something is lacking. Caleb and the offense was so brilliant it covered up alot of flaws but it caught up to us against Utah, unfortunately.

The national media needs to stop hyping USC up. They haven't had a great defense since the Pete Carroll years (over 10 years ago!) They never have a good defense. Utah Utes always punks them too lol. Utah normally has a team full of mountain boys (Utah and surrounding states) and picks up from other states wherever they can get them including CA and TX. They are usually very disciplined and tuff. USC gets players right there in the own back yard (southern CA) full of great players, lots of speed and size and bunch 4/5 star recruits nationwide. All of that and no NC since the early 2000s. Utah might win one in the future before USC wins another one. lol

considering his several injuries, this was a solid game from Williams. Statistically he played well (save for the meaningless interception), and I think its pretty clear that the rest of his team let him down. The run game was bad, the o line played horribly, and the defense couldnt tackle for their life. There really wasnt a whole lot he could do, and I think he is still alive in the heisman race

Loved how Urban Meyer (sp?), put it; they didn’t adjust, they had a game plan and stuck to it. Utah didn’t panic, and executed on both sides of the ball. Congratulations to Utes, full marks for an excellent win.

Thought the Trojans were going to blow the Utes out in the first quarter.Give the Utes credit all season long they've been the best offense in the 2nd and 3rd quarters in college football.The O line and defense were also.Great win for the Utes.
Michigan looked to be in trouble in the 1st quarter at Ohio St and did the same thing Utah did
When Caleb got hurt it was trouble, the one trump card SC had was his mobility and big time playmaking with his legs. When he was going on all cylinders in the 1st quarter Utah couldn't figure out how to contain him. His injury made him one dimensional and the Utes could just stay home on everyone, made it very hard to for SC to keep the offense up.
Utah is just a more complete team at this point. Caleb could have pulled some magic out of his hat if he was 100% and willed them to a victory MAYBE, but tbh the Trojans would have gotten exposed badly in the CFP coz their defense is just not there yet. A recruiting class or two will change that though. Great season by SC for a 1st year with a new regime, but tbh even as a Trojan fan, i think they ended up where they probably should be. It was a bit of an overachieving season for them.

It's not coincidence that shortly after that Utah was able to get a collar on him much more often. He wasn't mobile like he usually is.

Great win for Utah. They are much better than their 3 losses imply. They had the Florida game won if not for the costly interception at the goal line with just seconds to play. It was just one of those years where the mistakes in their games came at crucial moments. Hope they win their bowl game.

Our program is back, that's what I care most about. We will have tough luck some years but by all appearances we are gonna be in the conversation for quite awhile.
We have skill players for days, but we need some beef, our defense fights and is opportunistic but we got physically manhandled way too often on the line. When freaking Cal can march down the field on us, something is lacking. Caleb and the offense was so brilliant it covered up alot of flaws but it caught up to us against Utah, unfortunately.

Utah normally has a team full of mountain boys (Utah and surrounding states) and picks up from other states wherever they can get them including CA and TX. They are usually very disciplined and tuff.
USC gets players right there in the own back yard (southern CA) full of great players, lots of speed and size and bunch 4/5 star recruits nationwide. All of that and no NC since the early 2000s. Utah might win one in the future before USC wins another one. lol
