Pint-sized luxury! Lexus LBX hybrid 2024 review: Is the base spec of the new city car the best pick?

- The 2024 Lexus LBX hybrid is arguably creating a new premium segment, with it one of very few light SUVs that are locked in for Australia. In fact, with the pioneering Audi Q2 recently axed after a single generation, it's occupying a space of its own - until the fully electric Mini Aceman arrives, of course.
Either way, the LBX hybrid has set out to make luxury cars more affordable, which should deliver Lexus not only more buyers, but a younger demographic that it hopes will 'stay in the family' as they grow old. To do so, it's playing the value card heavily by taking the Toyota Yaris Cross' strong underpinnings and dressing them up - and some.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Contributing Journalist Emily Agar spends a week living with the LBX hybrid's entry-level variant, the aptly named Luxury 2WD, to find out how desirable it truly is. There's no denying its exterior design is attention-grabbing!

You’d be crazy to spend money on this- much better at going with the Lexus UX.
Hopefully a Morizo version coming to Australia
Exactly my thoughts too when i test drove this a couple of weeks back. The rear seat leg room is so, so disappointing. Anyone over 5'8 will struggle with leg and foot room.
The front seats are great though and the NVH and ride quality is amazing. But the legroom in the rear is an absolute deal breaker.
Strictly for a couple with no kids.
Way toooo expensive!
The idea of this car sounds like a bowl of instant noodles served in Michelin guide listed restaurant, charging you more because they boil it with Evian water and charcoals from Alps, which may supply more smoked flavors to your dehydrated vegetables & meat toppings. Lexus can really promote their profits with this category since they don't really make luxury cars as before.
Haha, so well SAID 😅
Expensive Yaris Cross
...and Yaris Cross is an expensive Yaris.🤣
@@cybermatstrikes7557 so right
@@cybermatstrikes7557 🤣
@@cybermatstrikes7557 yaris itself is quite expensive
@cybermatstrikes7557😅😅
Terrible backseat.
Please stop quoting before on road costs….just give us the driveway price as this is the only metric that matters.
Drive away varies from state to state :)
Why god why?
Terrible size, style and value
Take a Yaris cross which is a cheap car, put leather seats and call it a Lexus. What a joke. Designed for people with more money than sense. Would be crazy spending that much on a cheap Toyota.
Actually there synthetic leather which is what they use to call vinyl😅😅
