    I had the narrow toe cap with supreme M5 pros...wish I went with the vapors

      I think there’s a lot of people that feel the same as you. It seems like the Supreme should have more room than the vapors but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I know a couple of pro players who use the Ultrasonic skates still but have Vapor Hyperlite toe caps on them for that very reason.

    Hey man, love your channel and glad to see somebody who has played the game a higher level is making these sorts of videos. I was hoping you could chime in on the new AS-V Skates. I saw a video you had regarding the AS3 Pro's from last year and in a recent comment you said you just got a chance to try the AS-V's and they were much better than the AS3 Pros, in your words. I'm in the market for new skates. I'm 44 years old, a big guy at 6'4 and 230 lbs and I am coming from 8 year old Graf Ultra G75 Lites. I love those skates, but they have seen better days and they feel a little soft now. Being a bigger guy and needing a stiffer skate, I recently held AS3 Pros and couldn't believe how stiff they were....like holy crap its a ski boot. I've read that you really need to be an upper level skater to wear those things and see their benefits. I wanted to check out the 100k's, but the shop didn't have a single pair......( i know its dumb, but i am not a fan of the look of the FT Pro's, so they are out). I'm not the most agile skater, but I am a good men's league skater none the less, more of straight line power skater who can make hard stops. I am trying to figure out if the AS-V' Pro's will be too stiff ( like the AS3 Pros are ) and maybe try the 100k's. Somebody i know said they just tried the AS-V's and they felt a little more flexible this year, still stiff, but more forward flex. I'm wondering if 100k's will be stiff enough for me, even if they are marketed as the "agility style" skate with more flex in the boot......or should I just go with the AS-V's since im a bigger bodies skater. I wish i had a chance to feel the stiffness of the 100k's in person when in the LHS a few weeks back. Thoughts?
    Also, are you doing a video on the AS-V's any time soon?

      Hey man, thanks for the comment! You're in luck, I'm actually in the process of making a presentation on the AS5 Pro skates now. I'll also provide a little more info on the Bauer Supreme Mach skates too. Here's the long and short of it. The AS5 Pros are as stiff as always AND have significantly more volume than the Ribcor or Jetspeeds. For example, I'm now in an 8 Wide FT4 Pro Jetspeed, but an 8 Wide AS5 Pro is way too voluminous even for my foot. If you're interested in the Ribcor 100K Pro, but worried about the stiffness...don't be. Those are still around the same stiffness as a Bauer Vapor Hyperlite. Look for my video soon.

      No problem and glad you liked the vid! I figured this would tee it up for you or someone else to do a proper review once released. As a side noted, I currently have a pair of FT4 pros I’m breaking in. I’ll do a comparison review of them and the Hyperlite soon and talk about the new fit system in detail. As someone whose spent most of my playing career in CCM, I do think they’re at the top of the market right now. The only thing that I’ll be curious to hear from you and other folks is if they’re TOO stiff.

      @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Good plan. CCM puts more thought into comfort and I do believe the one piece boot is superior for performance but you can decide if you feel it. You’ve gotta track some BladeTech steel down too. I’ve been really liking it. Went back to Step for awhile and it’s too tall. It gets wobbly.

      @@mongillohockey of been thinking about steel. On and off just haven’t got around too changing it up. Then with the new skates will prob test the stock steal first. Plus those are 2400$ worth of skates so keeping other things down probably a good idea for a bit haha

      @@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews For sure. I wasn’t intending on buying these Jetspeeds, but someone was selling a brand new pair for $647 on SidelineSwap and I couldn’t resist! Lol. Plus my wife loves her pair so I figured I’d give them a shot…you know…for “Science.”

    I didn't try it on but I tried squeezing the cuff of the ASV Pro skate they had on display in store. The stiffness is bonkers and waaaaay overkill for my 180 lbs. Seems like maybe 300+ lb folks might like it though.
    Makes me wonder what the ASV and 590 skate stiffnesses will be like.
    I like my AS1 but if this is the way of the future, maybe I should try to get a clearance AS3 Pro before it's too late.

    Currently in the True TF 9’s. My backups are the CCM 485’s. Both very different skates. The Trues are unmatched for comfort and performance but a bit of a pain to get on and off. Super protective and black steel blades. Don’t really want to even try any of Bauers or CCM’s newer models because the Trues have all the high end features I need in a pair of skates. I absolutely love the Jetspeeds as well. Performance is excellent comfort is great and protection is very good as well. The only difference is the CCM’s blade profile is more neutral so there is a bit of adjustment when I wear them. Getting them on and off is a breeze as well. As I said before with theses two models of skates I really have no desire to try any of the newer offerings. I know that I fit best in a CCM as compared to a Bauer and love the one piece skate compared to a two piece with an outsole.

    Hello I’m coming from ccm ft2 skates size 8.5 EE . I got problem with the toe cap . My pinky toe hurts me in both pairs. My question is did they fix it in the as-v pro skates and what size and width you advise me to go too

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  2 года назад

      Yep, the good news is the toe cap in all three models of CCMs is fantastic and wider now. You’d probably want a FT4 Pro in a wide this time. Wide meaning wide and high volume, not just the old definition of EE width. The ASV Pro is incredibly high volume now compared to other models. If you did want to try the ASV Pro, try an 8 Regular. For some reason that boot feels slightly longer than the Ribcor and Jetspeed line this year.

    Literally can’t decide on CCM AS5 Pros, CCM Ribcor 100Ks, Bauer vapor hyperlights or Bauer supreme mach so I’m just sitting here skateless. Is there anyone that’s used all 4?! Im leaning towards supreme Machs or 100Ks. The vapors look too much. N the as5 pros are unknown territory.

    Great video. Sad about the lack of tech in the Machs. I currently use True Customs first Gen with LS edge holders and Step Steel and they’re heavy. The comfort is unmatched. Tried the Ultrasonic 9 fit 3 and too much volume. Tried the AS3 pro size EE and they were nice but not as good as my true fit. Finally I tried the FT4 pro and 100k and didn’t like both. Volume was too tight. Interested in your thoughts about ASV pro customs. Or the new True Catalyst’s coming out ?

    • @mongillohockey
      @mongillohockey  2 года назад +1

      @@lilyahboozah6169 The rumor I’m being told is that Bauer quietly widened the forefoot and added comfort padding over the seam between the toe caps and where they connect to the boot as a result of numerous comfort complaints in the Ultrasonic. We’re about to see if that’s correct in about two weeks from the time of this post. Don’t worry about the tech, it goes over all of our collective heads. Just try it to see if it’s comfortable.
