These on-ice reviews are so much more entertaining to watch. You put a lot of work into this thorough review Chase, appreciate it. Would love to see you run some drills in each of manufacturer's "lines" to discuss and show where each has it's advantages/disadvantages.

Hey Joe, thank you so much for the kind words and I definitely have to give the video team a lot of credit, they are masters of their craft! I like the drill ideas too to bring out how each handle agility, top speed, etc would be awesome.

Bought a pair today, easily the most comfortable skates i have ever tried. I have very Wide feet so they are perfect for me.

Is it possible to send in a trace of the foot to see which size is best, as some reviews have mentioned that they are way more spacious than others.

I am torn between these and Supremes. They both fit my foot but I’m waffling back and forth on features…
From an engineer’s point of view, I really like the idea of the one piece boot but I don’t know if my “Average Joe” skills as a skater would ever really benefit from it. Considering Bauer, which is not one piece, is worn by more NHL players, maybe that says something. I also am unsure about the long term durability of the bottom of the skate with the rivets going right through the carbon boot. As a heavier skater (200lbs), I fear that the attachment points for the blade holder might stress crack over time. I have worn nothing but CCM my entire life and I really want to like these…
When comparing to Bauer…. I like that the Supremes apparently have a little bit of a forward lean out of the box. I know you can profile the blades on the CCM’s to do the same thing, but I’d rather not have to fuss with that if I can avoid it. The other thing I noticed is the outside width near the forefoot is more streamline on the Supreme. In other words… while the interior space and fit is the same, the Tacks have some extra bulk on the outside of the skate right by where the toe box attaches to the boot. I don’t know if that will drive me crazy or not but when wearing one of each skate on each foot, the extra bulk was immediately noticeable. Looking at the Supreme Mach, I have seen some comments from other youtubers that they are concerned about the long term durability of the rubber AMP flex insert.
    These decisions are tough!!!

From reading your comment, it sounds to me like you're leaning toward the Mach's. You like the toe box, fit, forward lean etc. When it comes to durability, unless you're skating 4-5 times a week, your skates should last you a very long time (years). Both skates are absolutely incredible and are going to deliver you elite-level performance. My advice is to go with the skate that was the most comfortable when you were trying them on.

What is the difference between AS-V and AS-V Pro?

  • @user-eq3em1hv6t

Does anybody have experience during the baking process of AS-V PRO skates that also outer carbon composite shell can be molded? Or just inner foam can be molded? Thx

    Hello,
I used to play hockey when I was a teenager, and for a lot of reasons I had to stop playing. Today, I want to start ice skating again, but in the meantime my body shape has changed: I have gained weight and I weigh a little more than 150 kg (330 pounds).
When I rented ice skates at the rink, I got the filthy plastic skates of poor quality, and my ankle and calf support was so bad that I couldn't move without twisting my ankle.
I really want to skate again, and I'm willing to pay a price (up to $400). Do you have a model to recommend that will hold my ankle and calf properly despite my weight? I really miss this sport, and it would be a good way for me to get back into motion.
    Thank you!

      Hey!
It's great to hear you're starting to get back on the ice again! Stepping on the ice after a while is honestly one of the best feelings in the world and definitely kickstarts the desire to continue to skate! So in your case, I would honestly recommend getting at the very least the AS-590's and if you can the AS-V's or the AS-V Pro's. They are much more than your price range but Tacks are known for their stiffness and support, and anything less than the 590's I'm worried you won't have the support in the ankle you need.

@@ice.warehouse ..or have a look at the secondary market, can get close to new if you are a bit patient. AS3pro about 350-400.
