    Some really inspired, educated, thought-provoking answers to the questions here. This is one of the best Deep Dives ever. Cheers Chris and Josh.

    As someone from Bosnia living in Germany, I completely agree with your take on the atmosphere in English football. One of the things I love about it is the unique way the crowd interacts with the game. It may be quiet at times, but fans are in tune with the flow, when there's a tackle or a corner, the energy picks up. While I'm not against the "ultras" constantly singing, I also do prefer your way. And no one embodies that better than the Reds, you know exactly when to make that extra difference i.e. european nights.
    That said, we knew the atmosphere will be different with the new style of play. That's why Klopp was the perfect fit, but I also think a bit of calm for the next few years wouldn’t hurt. After nine years of heavy metal maybe we all need a breather and a touch of something more classical 😅

    Appreciate the realistic take on the contracts. IMHO, none of the three should be getting more than 250/week either because of age or position. I think van Dijk will take that. If Salah is happy with that, great, but it's a big pay-cut for him, so I don't know if he will. On the other hand, it is unlikely that he can get more anywhere else other than Saudi. If he wants to go there to maximize his earning potential, there is nothing LFC can do. TAA is tricky. Just like LFC should be hesitant to make a right back the highest paid player, Real's budget is not unlimited either, despite what we might think. They have so many superstars on huge deals already. Carvajal has been great for them at right back and he is on 200/week. I have my doubts they will be willing to pay TAA 300+/week. If he goes there, I actually feel it is not because of the money but because it is easier to win titles there, and, again, nothing LFC can do about that.

    In regards to the 6. You described what Endo does in terms of being vanilla. However it is clear what Gravenberch is doing is exactly how Slot wants his 6 to play

    Re Szobo - I totally agree with Josh that we will need Szobo's defensive strengths as we come to the tougher games BUT assuming Harvey is fit, then there has to be a good chance of Szobo coming off as both he and the oppositions tire, and bring on Harvey to exploit the extra time and space, and give us a much better chance of scoring late on, which could be critical against those teams. I would see Szobo coming off between 60-80 mins depending on how the game has gone. Harvey getting regular mins will be critical, both for Harvey's own game and also in case Szobo gets injured or tired or loses form - then Harvey is not coming in stone cold.

    For the forward line my hope is that Danns comes back from injury in the next month and makes slot realise he’s the missing piece in the 9. Salah signs. Then we sell Nunez in the summer and maybe even sell chiesa and go all out for kudus. He’d be great for us at RW or even in the 10. Then we’d have great balance up top imo.

    Actually I think Gravenberch is better suited to play the 6 in a double pivot. His off the ball play was the only worry but turns out the dude is a beast. His interception and duels stats are off the charts, better than most other 6s in the world. I think higher up the pitch Gravenberch is less effective as i think he lacks the vision for the final through ball and his shooting is sub-standard. Slot has found the perfect role for Gravenberch.

    RE the discission around players from outside top 6 who are 'gettable' and who we would want/need. For me the one who towers above all the other options is Branthwaite. He ticks so many boxes for us (position, qualities/skills/attributes, nationality/home grown, personality, physique, age) that it is ridiculous. I am sick to death of this shit around not signing a Toffee - we should be way, way beyond that - if he is what we need (and he most def is) then fuck the other stuff out of the window, and get him.
    My other observation is that we cannot go for another forward without moving on one or more of what we have - which complicates the whole thing. So we need to finally admit one or more of the following is true and then execute on moving them out - 'Nunez is not what we need, and never will be ...', 'Jota is too inconsistent and injury prone', 'Mo is past his best, and we need to accept he is going', 'Diaz does not deliver enough end product' etc. Until we do that, moving for another forward is a waste of time and resources.

    Josh and Chris are not factoring Salah's earnings for the club. He pays a big chunk of his own salary. The way to look at it is to ask how many points would we have without each? Secondly who can go for 3 more years? In terms of fitness all can. Next. Who is most easily replaceable? For me it's Salah, Virgil then Trent in terms of importance. Josh can put that in his stats and smoke it!

  • @hi0u91e9
    @hi0u91e9 4 дня назад +2

    The question I wanted asked: Is Trent captain material? Because if he stays that looks to be one of the conditions…

    • @AndrewL4me
      @AndrewL4me 4 дня назад +2

      He is maturing into one. When Virgil goes it's his.
      Our team is full of captains, and I hope we continue to buy more in the future

    • @AndrewL4me
      @AndrewL4me 4 дня назад +2

      @garycarey9376 I don't see either of them leaving. The club has to negotiate the biggest contracts last, otherwise the other players who are currently under co tract negotiations will want more. It's financially smart.

      @hi0u91e9 4 дня назад +1

      I fear he isn’t a leader-but aside from that I like captains to be systems players with defensive responsibilities because that is what you want them leading/inspiring/demanding of their teammates.

    virg can mantain a higher level for longer than salah. vvd is CB so its easier for him to do that. salah would need more people carrying him + AFCON every 2 years and his form always dips abit after that

    Bowen: no, over-rated & too old, Kubo or Bakayoko are better options; Guehi: no, over-rated & too short to dominate aerial play; Ait-Nouri - maybe but I like Kerkez from Bournemouth & Robinson from Fulham too; Gordon: no, inconsistent and we are already stacked at LW; Bruno: no, he’s good but would have to over-pay @£100m +/-; in terms of support for Ryno: Wharton: NO, he is NOT that good and has weak defensive tendencies (watch the LFC/Palace game); Quinten Timber: YES; Joey Veerman: YES; in terms of support for Dom: I like Harvey but I’m not sure his 5’6” frame convinces Slot, Eze could be groomed but he’s expensive, same for Kokcu; Up front, personally I love Darwin but he is too fragile to play striker, also, Jota is a pure finisher but is more of a false-9 with his height, we need a ruthless big-framed striker in the mold of Haaland, gotta pay for that quality so John Henry better grab his checkbook. Gyokeres @ £85m is best case; Marmoush has goals but at 25 he is VERY injury prone; VVD succession: (BIG decision) I would take a three-pronged approach with a 2-yr extension for Virg and then Tah on a free from Leverkusen, then bed in a younger Bade / Bastoni / Lukeba or some unknown Brazilian that Edwards discovers, just NOT Guehi.

    • @scottheath8415
      @scottheath8415 3 дня назад +1

      ….or for Striker maybe grab 6’5” Sesko from RB Leipzig…14 goals & 2 assists last year in 31 games = .52 goal contributions per game…£55m release clause and we have an established transfer history with RBL (Keita, Konate, Carvalho, Szoboszlai)….& Klopp could help from his new role
