      @@XICups It's on the 2020 version with the less visible logo in the middle, the older version doesn't have it, so they probably don't advertise it because it might upset previous buyers. It mentions it on the back of the scale so I guess read the fine print :D Also indicates with heavier weight you lose some accuracy like 1g accuracy between 500g-1000g and 1kg-2kg is 3g accuracy.

    I’ve owned an Acaia Lunar in black, for the past 5 years. Pricey and takes some time to learn. But it’s heavy, built of metal and lasts. Well thought out. The display is much smoother than this scale’s. It fits underneath my espresso machine port-a filter without adapters, special grills or grates. If you keep it relatively clean and charged it’s great. About the only thing this scale has that Acaia Lunar doesn’t is the fixed drip attachment. Nice video! Thanks for sharing!

    It turns on and finds your weight relatively quick but the Scale display updates SLOW, compared to some other scales.
    Yep, white backlight on a white surface is probably a bad idea. That colour is just for Apple Fans who like form over functionality :p
    I didn't think the scale has any sharp edges, it's lighter than some more expensive scales (not sure if that really matters, they could just add weight to make it feel premium). The matte coating is supposed to be tough and scratch / finger print resistant so that's good.
    For pulling an espresso shot with the auto timer I'd have the cup tared and ready and just give it a quick tap to the scale or cup when your starting the espresso machine pump, that way timing starts at the right time.

    • @XICups
      @XICups  3 года назад

      Great points!
      I find that the display is more or less the same as others in this price range, if not faster. To some, the weight will matter more than others, in practical daily use it really doesn't. Some of the points that I stated in the video is more of nick picks. Even for me, buying something of this price range I expected a bit more polish on the edges, though the material being finger print and scratch resistant is a big win for me.
      I hope that you are enjoying yours nonetheless.

    Thanks for the review, actually I don't like the built in battery, because that means it has a mechanical lifespan as all battery will die in a few years, I will prefer to use standard battery, that will last forever. Just my thought.

    • @XICups
      @XICups  3 года назад +1

      I agree with part of that sentiment, however at the same time the scale also does not require constant charging, so the battery life span might not be as short as you would imagine. That is assuming you wont want to upgrade your scale couple years down the line lol

    The auto timer function is half baked in my opinion. It’s good that the timer starts when it detects weight increase but it’d be even better if the timer stops when it detects that the weight has stopped increasing i.e., the shot has finished.

    • @XICups
      @XICups  3 года назад +1

      Yes, I agree that it's nice to have that for espresso or aeropress.
      However when it comes to things like pour overs you do want the brew time from start to finish, because if the total brew time is slower or faster that's an indication on whether or not you are grinding too fine or coarse. Due to the size of this particular scale, I would say it's designed more for pour overs and that's what I use it for =]

      Hey this reply is suuuuuper late, still trying to figure out how to get everything on this RUclips commenting system. But figure I should answer it regardless, basically I used this for pourovers more so than espresso is because for my particular machine it's a bit too big, so I prefer using my smaller Maxus. However if you only want one scale and you do pour overs quite often than, I would say this could be considered. sorry again about the super late reply.
