    I have one of these. It is my first scale. It's a great product. I highly recommend it.

    I recently took the dive into home espresso making and I’ve been looking for a scale that doesn’t break the bank. I was gravitating to the Black Mirror and was wondering about the differences between the old and new model. As you have said, there’s not a lot of detailed info out there about all of the functions, even from the manufacturer. Thanks to your reviews and excellent comparison here, I’m going with the old model. I like the clean look of the surface on the original and speed of display is not that critical to me. And I found it at a really good price. Cheers!

    Having recently purchased the Basic + model, you did a very fine overview. While it "technically" can fit on my e61 machine (Quickmill Alexia), the front part has to overhang the drip tray so the back end doesn't get blasted by the pressure release from the solenoid valve. As you demonstrated, the auto timer takes a second or two to start once the liquid hits the cup - more than livable. To add more to alephsk8's comment, the instructions specifically state not to use the scale while charging. The only feature that might be considered missing would be a calibration option. Using a 500 gram calibrated weight, the Timemore shows 500.2 and 500.4 without and with the silicone mat, respectively. Unusual as the scale was tared prior to weighing. But, this is only tenths of gram. When one takes into account the ~$60 price vs ~$250 for the Acaia scale, this is both an excellent value and alternative. Looking forward to your long term review.

    The USB port moved to the front is a nice change for avoiding water being exposed to the port while doing pour overs. My question is, is the Black Mirror Plus too big for manual or semi automatic espresso machines?

    • @Cenot4ph
      @Cenot4ph 2 года назад

      I belive this is too big for a Flair Pro or 58, you'd need the nano version instead

    • @ScarsOfAFracturedSou
      @ScarsOfAFracturedSou 2 года назад

      @@Cenot4ph You are right, the Flair lever machines have too small of a gap and would maybe need a mat underneath to lift the scale over the legs, and Cafelat Robot would also have too narrow of a clearance. With such a large footprint, would a scale at this size be delegated to Pour overs?

    • @Cenot4ph
      @Cenot4ph 2 года назад

      @@ScarsOfAFracturedSou it may fit for some espresso machines. Otherwise yeah, pour over duty

      I have used this on the barista express and the dual boiler, it's not ideal but fits. But like others said, the nano would be the better option if you are interested in the black mirror. However if you just want one scale for both pour-overs and espresso, then this is technically smaller than most of the pour over scales out there.

    I have a quick question. There is alot of Amazon sellers selling the Timemore at different prices. How do you know the which one is the official or are they all official scales from Timemore?

    Why dont they move to wifi instead of bluetooth. Would be a Good upgrade in My opinion and also auto transfer of brews to log on THE device you have connected.

    How does this fit under the Dual Boiler? Does it have to hang over the base? Or does it fit sideways?

    • @XICups

      Neither would I recommend doing that, as it will mess with the accuracy. If you are referring to the comment I made about the position of the charging port,, I am simply saying that, for me, it makes more visual sense to have the old design where the port is towards the back, where you would logically have the power outlet.
