    I'm a hand knitter and think it would take me longer to learn all that and then do it rather than to just knit it the old fashioned way, even so, I'm super impressed how well you did. Good job!

    Thank you so much for this. I've been looking at a knitting pattern for a jumper that I was thinking about trying to do on my sentro but I had absolutely no idea how to translate the cables, you've just helped me to fully understand what it is I need to do. Fingers crossed mine comes out looking a nice as your pillow did ❤

      It was certainly quicker for me to use the machine. I am not a very fast knitter but the speed I see some people knit it might be quicker. I go back and forth which I enjoy more but I certainly make more on my machine than I do by hand these days so I guess that says a lot 😊

      @@emilysmith2784 I think another thing to keep in mind is that a knitting machine can be useful if, say, one has arthritis and can't hold needles any more. In that case, it won't matter whether it is faster or not, it will be enabling someone to knit who could not, before. This thought didn't occur to me until recently, when I injured my thumb and could not knit (or crochet) until it healed -- and bought myself an electric salt and pepper mill, so that I would not injure my hand again, me, who had previously thought that an electric salt and pepper mill was a pretentious waste of money. So now I'm more injury/arthritis aware than I was.

    Hi! This is so brilliant idea to use extension cards))) I have doubts about sentro machine exactly because of limited stitch quantity)) Also, maybe it will be more convenient for someone to use 2 double side needles and just knit almost as usual 6 sts)))

      @@emilysmith2784 You don't have to use knitting needles, you could use two crochet hooks instead, having the hook at the end helps people who have a hard time with knitting needles. I also though that you can use Tunisian crochet method to make the cable which would make it go a lot faster.

      Infatti si fa prima a farlo a mano con i ferri, è vero che il pezzo base si fa prima con la macchina,poi però si perde molto tempo per fare le trecce quindi!, comunque molto bello e interessante.

    Very cool technique! Each time I watch a video of yours, I have a question, so here it is: once you put that blue lifeline in, and pick up & crochet the first row of six stitches, can you tunisian your way back? Or do you have to move the blue lifeline for each row and only work from right to left? And, can you tell us about how long that pillow case took, from start to finish? Thank you!

    • @emilysmith2784
      @emilysmith2784  Год назад +1

      You could try Tunisian but I don’t know if it would pucker as my understanding is that Tunisian crochet makes a thicker fabric as it’s one row on top of the other. But it’s been about a decade since I did Tunisian crochet so I am not an expert. I made the pillowcase in a day but I stop and start a lot throughout the day. I’d still say less than 12 hours for sure, but I try to enjoy the process of it rather than keeping an eye on the clock 😊

    I really like the idea of extender cards to increase the vapacity.
    1. I couldn't figure out how big the cards are, but I probably could after watching this again (which I will)
    2. Is it possible to knit or crochet a cable onto the blank panel after just making a flat panel?
