Wow!! Can I ask what size cardi you made & roughly how long it took you? I'm hoping to make cardi's eventually when my sentry comes & I practice simple things 1st.
Thank you for pointing out how important it is that the yarn be under the nook/hook at the beginning and end of each edge. That’s what was messing me up. I also found that pulling a bit on the yarn when you reverse the direction helps keep the ends neat by removing excess yarn that forms those ugly open loops along the edge that can then loosen those stitches and increase the problem of them lifting off and unraveling later.
@@Katieree I think this person has said it all but lemme just quickly go over my experience. My one bedroom is currently filled with yarn. I got this for $8 as a gift from the thrift store and obviously cus it’s a thrift store yarn was extremely cheap so i got a bunch. I did the first round and it worked but all of a sudden it stopped🤡🎈! I wondered why until I watched where you said to make sure it is knotted in the beginning. I haven’t even gone far and i can tell you it’s looking good!!! Definitely why it keeps dropping stitches imo. Jeez I almost cried cus as you can tell it was a good deal and this was my first time. Getting it right on the first try just made me sad when I couldn’t get it again but I kept putting it on the white one like one video suggested 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Honestly this video made me realize those ugly giant loops were because of tension and not dropped stitches! This is also the first time I realized why people use waste yarn.
I've been knitting hats and scarves on one of these sentro machines since Xmas 2022 for the Ukrainian refugees. It's a fantastic piece of equipment and I'll definitely start knitting panels after watching this.

This totally helped me get the panel knitting correct! I wasnt able to understand Sentros own videos for casting on and knitting intructions because they are crap, so this video was perfect! Thanks!!
The nook! The mystery nook! My machine and me have fallen out a lot of times over flat panels that looked like I'd put them through a cheese grater at the ends. I've got a prym but hoping the nooks are still there 😂 thanks for the explanations there are some really good tips on perfecting technique here 😊
Amazon had this for half price in the warehouse. It was a good buy for me in case I did not like this. Mine is in good condition and I can't wait to knit my first hat.
Hi Kate, Wow! I didn't realize you can make any size hat or tube using the panel setting!! Thank you for pointing that out! You're brilliant!!! I just love your videos and your accent. Thanks so much for sharing. :-)
I want to try joining panels by matress stitch and maybe be able to make a drop shoulder sweater. The limit of [maximum number of needles minus 4 needles for turning] is quite a small amount when one thinks of making an adult sized garment. When I take off the panel from the machine, it has width x, which is determined by the distance between the needles. When I then pull it lengthwise and get the optics of regular knitting, it 'shrinks' enormously [unless I use a chunky or aran weight, which I don't want to]. I will experiment some more, also with continuing handknitting from the cast-off stitches - some ribbing maybe? 🤔
Ooh my days I just loved you for saving me from returning my knitting machine it was second time I brought thinking machine is crapped but now you have answered all My question and saved me from returning thank you thank you so so much ❤❤❤❤ I really wish I know where you lived I would make you scaref ❤❤❤❤

What a great video I just acquired a Sentro a few days ago. I have to say, your explanation of the panel process was the best I've seen. Thank you! Your sweater video was also great... I started a sweater the same day I watched your video.
Best video for panel knitting hands down. I tried 6 times today. Will try again soon. Couldn’t get the ends right. They would all bunch up instead of dropping off like they were supposed to.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve watched so many other videos on how to do panel knitting with the knitting loom and one side always ends up so loose. I honestly thought my machine was broken and then I’ve watched your videos and realised it was obviously the tension Thank you so much it’s been a great help x

Thanks for the info. I'm retired and looking for things to occupy my time. I just bought one of these machines which will arrive in the mail on Saturday.
Thank you right now I'm looking at videos I just received the machine and I had ordered a 48 needle hoping that later I would but the smaller ones but with this video I can save money I don't have and make smaller items you are good.
I definitely can see either a doll or a child's sleeve being created as a panel on this machine I have now purchased both the 48 peg and 40 peg machine and I also am getting the one that has 20 pegs all Sentro. Just all by experimentation to see how far I can go with this machine the panel Stitch is definitely interesting 🙌🎉🎉. I wanted to invest in the Addi machine but none were available here in USA 🇺🇲🏡 thank you for making the video.
I never understood from watching other tutorials why they were cracking clockwise and anti-clockwise...now thanks to your very well explained tutorials, I now know!! you are very precise and very easy to understand..Thanks!!😊 I have not bought my machine yet, But planning on it...now I will also be watching a lot of your videos and learn more, especially about what is waste yarn, and it's purpose..lol sorry I am a newbie from Canada..lol Thank you!
hi Canada and others in this comment. I answered to another user's question - so here it is: waste yarn is some leftover - or just a cheaper - yarn in the same thickness as your 'real' yarn. The first few and last few rounds tend to be a bit more loose than the central portion [once it's off the machine and straighteted out/ steam blocked]. To make sure you are catching all the needles you want and have a good idea on the edge manipulation, you don't want to waste precious yarn [think cashmere headband or beanie...], therefore you cast on with a cheaper yarn with hood twist; once you are well established in cranking, stopping, checking the nook, having a good tension, *then* you change to your 'good' yarn. Once you have reached the amount of rows required, you change back to the waste yarn, work a few more rows and cast off. You can then slip the last row of your good yarn stitches onto a knitting needle [pick up the right leg of each stitch, coming in from the right] then rip out the waste yarn and either work a nice bind-off, work some ribbing or speciat stitches above the machine-knit part and _then_ bind off. Same but different for the bottom waste yarn: pick up the sts of the first row if 'good yarn', carefully cut one stitch of waste yarn in the row below. You can now undo this row and thereby separate the waste yarn section from the good yarn section. Again, your options are then to knit on and then bind off, or bind off directly
yes, it quite needs some getting used to. Figuring out what yarn thickness and yarn 'slickness' works best, how much tension is necessary for the cast-on and later for feeding yarn in... The best advice I can give at the moment is - make sure the yarn can unwind from its ball freely. As a handknitter I tend to use the centre of a yarn ball, but one works very slowly compared to the machine, so the take up is much higher. -> use the outside of the yarn ball, place the yarn ball in a bowl or little bucket and place it directly underneath the tensioning device (you can probably just place it between your feet).
This video is really really helpful, very well explained for a beginner like me. I request you to demonstrate us how to make knitted pants of different sizes using a knitting machine. Please please please come up with a video. Looking forward to learn more from you.
Hi Katieree i just want to thank you for your very helpful and informative video's on how to use the sentro knitting machine. yes im a bloke and yes im taking up knitting lol. it was seeming like a very daunting task to begin, but your casting on video and this one have been ever so helpful for me as i struggled to learn through reading the instructions. im more of a visual learner. once again thank you very much.
Wow great video thank you. I'm waiting on my machine to be delivered. I thought it would be great for charity knits and some presents. It would be lovely to make a stripped blanket out of it.
Thanks so much for doing this! I got my machine yesterday, but the counter doesn't work and my panel setting doesn't all around like yours when I do the casting. Do I need to adjust something? xxx
The panel setting isn’t meant to go all the way around. Once it stops you need to crank back the other way. If you want it to go all the way around you need to change it to the tube setting. Also, your row counter won’t work on the panel setting 👎🏼 if you’re still having issues after this you should contact the seller and ask for a replacement. All the best! 💕
Well, well, well... THIS wasn't included in the instructions I got on my machine... Thanks for sharing this with us, I was nutty with the panel thing as well.
Thank you so much for this clear video on how to panel using this machine. I swear I couldn't do it . But this was so easy to understand I just followed along and I had a panel! Thanks a bunch :D
@@1jojangles Listen... I had to restart like 10 + times to get it. I'd start the video, do a few lines fudge up ,unpick the rows and restart the video. So if this big idiot can do it so can you. I know you can!
Hiya, wow that was a very good, informative & easy for me to follow tutorial. Thank you so much for making this video, & for putting the " I can do this" attitude in me. I've ordered my 48 needle Sentro machine & so can't wait to make my blankets faster 🥰 & I'm not getting any younger so this will be a huge asset for me 😁 Thank you again & I hope my message finds you & your family well.
Thank you very much for your top notch tutorial, the close-ups are so helpful. ❤ I was wondering if either you or someone else reading this could kindly help me, please: When I'm knitting a panel, I tend to lose the first and last stitch, especially after changing from waste yarn to project yarn. I have tried everything I could find online about casting on properly, adjusting the tension, how to change colours etc. What tends to happen is that the first/last stitch gets stuck on top of the needle, so I can only crank on if I move the yarn on that needle manually and I'm never sure whether to pull it over the needle (which often leads to a knotted bulk of stitches after a few rows) or whether to pull it back to the front to form a loop around the needle (which often leads to losing that stitch). I hope this makes sense, it's driving me nuts and I'm so proud I haven't thrown a temper tantrum yet. 😂 Thanks in advance to anyone who has a moment to reply. ❤
with her tipps and tricks I have tried making a panel again, but I seem to run into similar issues like you. She mentions one will lose the first 2 stitches, so if you want a panel of 20 sts, you will need to cast on to needles 1 through 22. maybe make a mark with a sharpie on the 'nook' left of your last needle, so you'll know what spot to look out for for the turn that will give you a clean edge. I myself will try to make a panel without the panel setting, so I have full flexibility and security when to make the turn without running the risk of breaking the machine
@@amberschiwi Thank you for taking the time to reply and for sharing. I will keep that in mind. I also realised that it happens less frequently when I start threading from the third or even fourth or fifth needle so the first stitches don't start rising again once I come back the end of the row. Just takes a bit more focus to stop in time. I still lose / "knot up" stitches at the beginning and the end when the loop gets stuck on top of the raised needle and I don't know whether whether pull it back over the needle or to push it to the front but it's better now. I finished a very amateur-looking shawl and I haven't thrown anything against the wall! 😄♥️

Double it and I hate doin tht but honestly thts really the only sizeni could find I did find a few in 5 & 6 not the colors I really wanted but I grabbed them..sorry for the long book of a post lol but can u or anyone tell me wht size of yarn should be used or is recommended to use in this Sentro looking machine plz and thank you in advance..again thank you for this video it was truly so helpful especially for a newbie to this machine thanks 😊

@@amberschiwi I retruned it.
Thank you!!! ❤❤❤ You saved my future professionals live 😁😁😁

what worked well for me was that, as I was thinking of questions, you addressed them shortly after so thank you for a very informative video.👍👋
Glad it was helpful!
Wonderful video! Sound was loud and clear and very good instructions! 👍
Thanks so much! Glad I could help 😊
Wow great video thank you. I'm waiting on my machine to be delivered. I thought it would be great for charity knits and some presents.
It would be lovely to make a stripped blanket out of it.
I got my machine today andade two of your two tone hats, they didn't turn out too bad!! 🥰👍and thank you for the waste yarn suggestion
Thankyou Melissa!! Enjoy! 😁
How wide is the panel when using all the pegs?
Muchas gracias ☺️ por fin un vídeo que me explica cómo hacer paneles más pequeños. Desde Chile saludos🇨🇱
Well, well, well... THIS wasn't included in the instructions I got on my machine... Thanks for sharing this with us, I was nutty with the panel thing as well.
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching 🥰
Thank you!! I had so much trouble understanding this! After a lot of pause and rewind, I got it!!
You're welcome! 😊
You just opened up my knitting machine world so much!
Happy to help! 😁
Thank a million for the tutorial! I was finally able to knit a panel after seeing your video. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this clear video on how to panel using this machine. I swear I couldn't do it . But this was so easy to understand I just followed along and I had a panel! Thanks a bunch :D
My pleasure Chanelle! 💛

Lol I still can't do it! Dropped rows and everything 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much!!! Its do hard to find a video for a small panel!
Спасибо большое за урок! С благодарностью из России ❤
Great show!! I am glad I found u
Thanks
Thanks so much 🥰
Thank you very much for your top notch tutorial, the close-ups are so helpful.
Gday thanks so much lm buying my first machine and your videos are a god send thanks again

Very helpful, thanks! Do you have (or can you do) a video where you use the waste yarn for the edges you talked about? I'm not getting how to do that.
