This is a great takeoff video. The best part for me is at around 2:48 or so when all the parked planes below and the terminal buildings are visible. Great job!
This is a nice takeoff video. I will be flying to ATL tomorrow afternoon(August 23rd,2010) at around 4PM EST from ONT,CA. I hear this airport is huge. I can't wait to see it!
You and me both!... DC-9, MD-80, 717... I am not as big a fan of the MD-90 as the previous 3, but I still like it as well. Douglas did a good thing designing this one.
@JMG717 its amazing how a wing that size can lift an aircraft that big with no engine hanging from it, and still be strong enough to not break off when 600 mph winds and 110,000 lbs of lift are hitting it.
@JMG717 That doesn't make too much of a difference, but you are right it will enable a cleaner wing and made it slightly smaller. the wing only looks small when compared most planes which are usually bigger in size.. it is adequately sized..
Well you must keep in mind that ATL (Atlanta, GA) is one of the biggest airports in the US. The biggest one in the US is ORD, but I think they are kind of the same size.
I've been on that plane and airline several times. I've been on a 717,737,757,767 and a CRJ and PropPlane. I fly a whole lot so I've been on Southwest, Northwest,USAirways, Delta,AirTran,USA3000,American and United. I have a video of our 767 taking off from Dominican Republic landing in JFK! Please watch!
As far as I know, the engines are set to 1.38 T/O EPR. but these may have been a little less since we were not that full. Its ok, we enjoyed the flight TO Atlanta a lot more.
I'm assuming you stopped somewhere on the way to L.A. AFAIK, the 717 cannot make it from ATL - LAX nonstop. If it could, they probably would have ordered more 717s before the production line shut down as opposed to 737s.
Not true, you can fly a 737 or 757 VFR under Part 91 operations...you only have to fly IFR if you are in class alpha airspace which is 16000-80000ft. Doesn't matter on the size of the aircraft.
What a beautifull engine sound... Which engine is that? Wow, I'd sure like to fly on a 717 one day. So now all Air Tran 717's are reciving the "Blue Canyon" livery?

This video actually shows you how big this massive airport is! Once again,love it!

Great video! More than likely this 717 wound up flying for Delta via Southwest.
i took off from that airport on that airline in a 717, i really enjoyed the flight. i have noticed that takeoff in a 717 is very calm

cool vid......... i was on airtran today and last week..... i went to florida
wow that 717 had some spinach for breakfast. that thing looked like it rolled and accelerated really fast.
I love the sound of the 717 Engine Start!

amazing to see those tiny wings lifting up the huge md80s and 717
What a big ass airport Hartsfeld is! The busiest in the world! Neat...
26A best seat in the house besides the captain and first officer seat;)
@LTF85199 It's amazing how small a wing can be to lift a huge airliner when an engine isn't hanging off of it.
when i used to live in cranston rhode island all you ever saw was US airways and southwest
Triple Air Tran!!! One taking off, one landing and the one ur on

Well actually Delta has a headquarters in Atlanta
Rolls-Royce BR715-C1-30 rated at 21,000lbf... T/O EPR is typically 1.38 IIRC.

Neither the MD-80 series nor 717 series is "huge". Watching a C-5 takeoff is a different animal though.
What a beautifull engine sound... Which engine is that?

"hey, lets go spot planes in Atlanta" " theres a delta, delta delta, delta connection, delta, airtran, delta delta
I would like to see 727s, 732s, DC-10s again. But that ain't gonna happen due to the influx of CRJs now.
This was A/C 792, N919AT for any of those that may have been wondering
1:58 Best sounds ever
No, it isn't loud... It's quiter than if you were sitting in the back of a 737
is it loud back there....i flying on that same seat
if they were still in produnction of 717 i be they would get more 717
@dannywilliamo was it a 717 or a 737
Last of the mohicans so to speak'
I flew on one of the last YX MD80s to LAX Sept1 then I was on the trusty 717 LAX-KMCI-KMKE
Yes
@makowals Probably 3 deg.
well ATL is the worlds busiest
Cool!
what airline , was it Airtran
yup
@iflydelta1101 Yeah, I would like to see some more diversity... Then again, AMERICAN and UNITED are pretty much all you see in Chicago O'Hare.
@dannywilliamo from were and to were
how many terminals at ATL are designated to delta? jeez, talk about a hub....
26A on N919AT -- ATL-STL - FL 781
They sound like dishwashing machines.
nope. deltas livery
Like if you think this plane took-off, flew, and landed IFR.
@IluysionEnterprise I've text'd and we didnt crash, thousands of ppl video tape, no ones died bc of it....
relax
@darrenhenderson3 Atlanta"ATL" to Midway"MDW"
Safest airliner in the world jajajaja
@IluysionEnterprise
It does, but if you can show me one flight where EVERY passenger follows that rule, I'll give you $100.00
that is exactly what i did today lol
lousy Air Line bad service,American is the best!
