    That's a lot of tri-jets in the background, wow!

    Love that deep base rumble on the BR715. Absolute eargasim! I also enjoy it when the engine is throttling through a certain N1 range and it sounds as if some kind of internal flap is opening or closing and just adds to the lovely sound.

    While I have to say the MD-80 sound is spectacular, I like the shorter fuselage of the 717 because it keeps the spirit of the DC-9-30. I like the stubbier wings too.

    Couldn't agree more. Lucky for me I have had many oppertunities of flying on them in the past couple of years. I was scared that they would be gone from the US forever when Southwest disposed of them, but with the good news from Delta, I can relax again. I would certainly miss this unique bird

    I just got wind of that last week and couldn't be more excited. DL already has an amazing fleet. Maybe the 117-140 passenger T-tails won't be as much of a rarity now, when I fly home to CMH for the holidays.

    That's awesome you filmed the VHS stuff. I am 30, and back in the early 90's I had no means of recording so I saved some safety cards here and there, but youtube is such an awesome tool now. I am friends with Ryan Bomar and if you are familiar with his channel (same name) he uploads old VHS spotting footage to youtube. You should digitize yours and do the same. People are thirsty for those classic jets.

    Yes it was quite a surprise to see those. Nice to see a little goldmine like that at ATL.

    Also why I love flying on DC-9 series aircraft. Most aesthetically pleasing sound an engine could make.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  12 лет назад

    Well it sounds like you have the perfect seat. It is very good engine sound when you sit in front of it. The 717 or DC9 is perfect because the engine is level with your ear if you sit next to it.

    Awesome video! Love the sound of those BR715-C1-30s!!

    100% agree and the other cool thing is it is a sound all of it's own.

    Row 28 is one of the best rows for recording on this aircraft. Cannot wait to see the new Delta interior package on these beauties.

    Sorry to hear that. Things like that happen and it definitely puts a dent in your day. I had a similar happening. On Jan 1st 2011 I tried to catch a DC9-40 ride DTW-MKE. The flight was on time all set coming from CLT. When i got to the gate, I saw the plane, but they canceled the flight because that's when they pulled it from the fleet. My planning of a 4 stop day flight all went down the tube and I will never get a DC9-40 video. Good thing for you, the 717's will be around a while.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  12 лет назад

    I couldn't agree more. It's a great visual with great sound. However I've found the engine audio is optimal 1 or 2 rows in front of this. Then you get more of the higher frequencies of the engine "whine" and less of the bass you get from being beside the engine. This row is still my favorite though.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  13 лет назад

    @AirplaneVideos1 I remember flying the 7B model when I was really young. It was an old US Air DC-9. I remember the sound but I was s young and didn't have a camera, or realize how special that plane would be today.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  12 лет назад

    Yes, it was quite a change of scenery. I was lucky, because I left Atlanta one day before they had a major ice storm.

    Ah, that wonderful BR-715 buzz-saw sound. How I've missed it since AirTran left Newport News :(

  • @rud2692
    @rud2692 12 лет назад +1

    The 717 is a "one of its kind" because It doesn't have a family fleet. and it's rare in much of the US as it is currently being flown only by AirTran. That's y i think it's so unique. I too love the DC-9-30. Yea, both are very much comparable. I wish Delta would keep them.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  13 лет назад

    @AirplaneVideos1 Thanks. That's good WN is hanging onto the 717s. They are today's new "DC9" :)

  • @rud2692
    @rud2692 12 лет назад

    I hope I can get to ride these while they are still with Airtran one last time before they go to Delta in mid-2013. I love them better than those McDonnell Douglas MD-80's.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  13 лет назад

    @piotrkol1 Yes it's definitely very non jet-like. What it seemed like to me is when the engines hit a certain frequency of sound, it vibrates the panels on the inside of the plane.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  12 лет назад

    I agree also but it's give and take. I like row 28 for the visual and camera angle. Same thing with Row 24 on the DC9-50. On the 717 row 27 (or 23 on the dc9-50) the sound and whining of the engines are better and better audio, but is more difficult to get the view of the engine and wing all in the same angle. So it is good to try and film both if you fly them multiple times. For sure the more behind the engine you sit, the more bass frequencies your camera will pick up.

    Too bad Southwest didn't pick up any of AirTran's 717's. Now that would have been a sight to see...

    • @LoveJT8D
      @LoveJT8D  11 лет назад +1

      I'm glad Delta gave the 717's a new home however, I agree it would have been awesome to see them in Southwest's livery.

      LoveJT8D Atlanta had an ice storm again last winter as well actually more then one this time although i live just an hour northwest of the city in around the mountains we just got snow more then ice think god the climate is trying to cool down after the two decades anyway i flew the same airline and type of jet out of ATL to Buffalo back in 2012 it was a nice route over West Virginia but it was in the summer time so i didn't get to see any from air winter scenes both city where also going though a big heatwave at the time

    @SpantaxDC10 Thanks man. I use the Sony DSC-H55. To me the HD is somewhat sub-par, specially at night because it will get a little grainy. But I do a lot of work in post-production to enhance the audio and colors. This camera is great in the fact the audio does't crap out on loud planes. Most of my videos I use Sony Vegas Pro for post work. Now I am currently transitioning to Final Cut Pro. Other than that, the camera is a workhorse.

    @robinbrannon1 Not real sure but im guessing it will be a gradual process just like the transition from NWA livery to Delta's.

    @thecravenator42069 I've seen a mock picture of the 717 in Southwest livery and looked surprisingly sharp but stil something that would take some getting-used-to. You can find it in a google search.

    Wow, beautiful video and excellent sound. What camera did you use to take it?

  • @ck717ld
    @ck717ld 12 лет назад

    i actually think that row 27 is the best, because 28 can be too loud to handle for some cameras. plus, if you wanna get pics of the engine, you don't need really big lens in 27.

  • @LoveJT8D
    @LoveJT8D  13 лет назад

    @YxJames Yes I don't see too many startup videos of this aircraft, and it has it's own unique sound. I had to cut some of the startup out cause the flight attendant passed right by me but wasn't for long so I was able to save most of it.
