My wife asks "Why don't people just send their bags to Louis Vuitton?" So, I say," Bedos remakes what Louis says can't be repaired." Steve is a pretty incredible talent.
LV say thry cannot be repaired so you buy a new bag as do most manufacturers. It is not in their bank balance benefit to repair items. Much more money made selling the customer a new one!
Also if you send them back to LV and they approve the repair, it can sometimes take a really long time for the repair turnaround like 6 months to a year or longer before you see your bag again.
I think these prices are fair for the price of an LV in the first place. My father is a cobbler and he has over 30 years of experience. The most he charged for a repair on a designer bag be it a recondition, or broken strap is no more than $200 and people still think it’s outrageous. I’m gonna show him this video and tell him how much he could actually still charge and be fair. I believe his work is definitely worth more than $10-$200 jobs. Thank you for this video and your content.
@@Spazik86 Most "designer" bags are made in sweat shops in asian countries, dozens per hour. People are so enamored by name brands as validation and a badge of "I've got money". The people who will drop $1200 on a LV or Coach, balk at $800 for a hand made no name custom, because no one will be impressed by the label. Every serious custom maker will show you how the fast machine stitching and multiple hands assembling make it more of a mass produced Walmart bag than a true custom. Look at Marcellino's in NY or Peter Nitz in Switzerland, and gasp at those prices. Those are true high end bags.
Don't think I've ever made a comment before, Steve, even though I've been watching you for more than a year and a half now enjoying seeing the technique of a real artist who loves his work! I've picked up a lot of things from you in my daily life about how to repair things around the house and even having such a good attitude in general. You're a great teacher and maybe in your next life you'll be a heart surgeon doing the same type of RUclips videos, sewing people up & complaining about poor stitching technique while repairing the bad work of previous surgeons .

The sad thing is the guy that did the repair Probably looked at the bag and said I'm the MAN. Lol it's sad. I see it all the time in my trade. There is no more pride in the work these days. Luckily there is still a few left with pride in their work. That's why we watch it's nice to see. Thanks for the awsome videos.
Steve Im really grateful you teach me a lot as a busy Businessman when I had time I repaired my wifes vintage bags which back in Europe we had a difficulty to find someone who can repair it without overcharging it majority in Moscow and Europe reqested the same if not the double amount of its material cost and you know those vintage items have always their good old memories.Wishing you the best God May Bless you Steve Greetings from Moscow
I watched all of your Louis Vuitton repairs and just asked myself when will Steve post a new video with a Louis Vuitton bag that needs to be repaired. You are doing a fantastic work, and people in all repair industries should watch your videos and learn a thing or two, including principles and moral, which too many lack these days.
This is how you know Louis vuitton's quality has gone down. The vintage ones are being repaired because they were used for a long time . And the recent ones the quality has gone down so they need repair.
Nah, I would say it depends how people care about the item and how they use it. Same leather bag can last a lifetime, someone else will ruin it in couple of years.
I suspect it's people with easy come easy go attitudes overfilling them in situations where a heavier duty bag would be more appropriate. I see people with £1,500 mobile telephone handsets stuffed in their back pockets who sit down with the handsets in their back pockets, you know the sort of people who don't have much money but like to give people the impression they have money through their consumption habits..
Happy birthday... when you get 57 you dont turn the numbers around anymore. I am glad you are feeling better... Give a hug to Zeus... big hugs from Belgium... 😘😘😘
Great video Steve... thank you so much for all the inspiration you have given me. I have a 15-16 year old cream colored Coach that has some stitches that need repairing... something that I now will be able to do myself!... thanks to you!!! Also at 21:02... DUDE!!! you’re being so mean to your beautiful workhorse sewing machine!... that is such rough treatment... what has that machine ever done to deserve that kind of treatment??... please fill your bobbins the right way... please?... actually if you need it done, so that you aren’t damaging your machine, I would be more than happy to do it for you!!!... just let me know.
I HAVE to send steve a pair of my shoes to repair. His dedication to his craft is above and beyond. That and it would be awesome if he made a video out of them
I can’t explain the excitement I felt when I saw this video pop up in my feed! Btw I would totally watch a 4 hour video from you, Steve. And I’d watch it on repeat. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve rewatched many of your videos, including the 1+ hour LV bucket bag video which I’ve rewatched many, many times! You’re the best!
Steve I am so excited for this series! Haha. Had a tough day at work in the hospital and this is the best thing to watch to relax! Thanks for the distraction.
My first time watching you, and feeling vindicated at using stainless steel razors for dressmaking ripping out and mending. Here you are, just cutting the thread. People think I’m nuts, I’m not. Love it. Thanks.
I look at you doing this and I say to myself, man he must be the happiest man in the world, your doing something you love (and you must cause your very good at it) and you get paid mucho money for it. Kudos to you.
Happy belated birthday, Steve! I am glad to hear that you are feeling so much better; stay well. I love this video, and can't wait for the other parts of it. What incredible skill you have.

I either keep the original bag stuffing upon purchasing, or I use the clear bubble wrap to hold my purses shape. I always use the dust covers. I also use this type of wrapping inside my genuine leather loafers & boots. It extends the wear by preventing cracks.

vintage Coach Collector I’m sure the third bag was an authentic bag. It’s a vintage bag made under The French Company. You can tell by the side lock.

me too
Or use small pillows?
