- Join me as I return to Alton Towers on an off peak weekday in May to show you just how quiet the park really is midweek! In this vlog I check out all of the different areas of the park and ride all of the major attractions! This includes The Smiler, Wicker Man, Nemesis and many more Alton Towers classics. You honestly can't beat off peak days at Towers. Walk ons all day. My record is 34 rides in one day. Great to have a stroll around and take everything in without the fear of missing any rides. 🚶♀️ 🌞 🎢
When is the best day next week for it do you think everytime I have gone it's been packed
I always visit on off peak days as well as I feel you actually get your money's worth :D

5:08 It's amazing that there's almost ALWAYS someone on the train who's never done Thi3teen before. I think that's what makes it so re-ridable for me - I love hearing everyone's reactions. 😄

It brings a little tear to my eye to see the state that Enterprise is in; it’ll always have a little place in my heart, as it was the first ride I ever rode on at Alton Towers back in the early 2000’s, so there remains a bit of hope in me that it does come back into operation. Another underrated flat ride that the towers had was the Ug Swinger/Twirling Toadstool; that was always a good laugh
Hex was having some issues too and this year it hasn’t opened once but at the start of the season it reopened only for a short time it’s now currently being used as storage which is a huge shame but it’ll be back open with the Skyride in next year’s season
I really hope Towers invest in Hex as I would hate to lose that ride. The soundtrack, the atmosphere, the story and the effects make it one of my favourite dark rides in the UK. Also, riding Wicker Man on the back row during scarefest last year is one of the best rides I've ever had on a coaster. It's absolutely brilliant.

Nice vlog Shawn. Brings back so many good memories of my regular trips to the park with my mates back in the 90s and 00s. I can remember getting in the huge queue for Nemesis when it opened in the mid nighties. Also Oblivion when that first opened. Back then I had a Merlin pass which was great for regular trips to AT, Thorpe Park, Chessington and Madam Tussaud’s in London. The Retro Squad is still going strong which is great👍

Haven't been to towers for a couple of years and I'm delighted by how much the foliage around Wickerman has grown, I always think the rides look better when everything is overgrown.

We went on an off peak day. It was deserted walk on ques for everything you could just turn to a ride up and be riding it in 5mins. Rode nemesis for my first time it was great we were on the 5th row it was also my birthday got to go round 4 times on my birthday as there was 2 other birthdays on the same train.

I had my first ever visit to Towers on Monday! I loved it! I started the opposite side of the park to you otherwise I would have said hello!

im going to alton towers next week, last time i went was 2018/2019 when wicker man was new. i wasn't big enough for most rides but now i'm older and taller i cant wait to get on nemesis, oblivion, galactica and whatever!
Just got back this evening from a 4 day trip to Alton towers with my wife, little girl and some of our friends. You really can’t beat off peak times, wed/thu most the queue times were 0min and yesterday the park was not much busier.
2 night in the village and one in the hotel,
It was fantastic.
It’s perfect midweek!
Just got back from Alton Towers today, Friday the 13th, did every major coaster twice, longest wait time was 10 minutes for The Smiler, highly recommend this time of year!
My longest wait was probably that bloody roller disco! Then it didn't even spin. So frustrating haha My fastest ride was probably 2nd go on Smiler. I literally walked down single rider straight to the chain and was directed immediately to waiting spare seat on the front!
When I went in 2019 I had gone on nemesis and I qued up for 3 mins then I had a ride and I ran back around and into the queue. was walk on time, and bonus it was the year it was 25 and a weekend in the holidays.
Alton towers is the best, I mean it's the largest theme park in the UK and, also I'm writing this on Friday 13th finally nemesis is the best ride at the park in my opinion.

One time, when I was on marauders mayhem, some boys were spinning the barrels at massive speeds. It's was hilarious.
This video made me book two days at the towers for me and my boyfriend -and we live all the way in scotland! your energy and love for this park is very infectious XD great video dude :)

Really like these laid-back chill vlogs from my favourite UK park. I love all your little facts and insights about the park. I feel like I learn something new each time! I’ll be sad to see Duel go but hopefully it is replaced with another dark ride that is just as detailed, though hopefully better looked after!

the only issue i have with AT is 10-4 is not good value IMO. we went to energylandia 2 weeks ago in their off peak season and it was 10-6 everyday
wickerman is still my favourite ride at AT though. cant wait to get back on it next weekend!

I got 4 laps on the mine train on a visit in Scarefest last year (the same day of your second Scarefest visit). It was the very last train of the day. I was also impressed with Wicker Man at night.
Went on a day during Mardi Gras, and was on the second to last train and got 3 laps. Some small children who were on wanted a 4th, but the operator said, “You’re being greedy now.” 😂
The husband and I are having a kid free day next week just so we can be big kids ourselves Have never ridden the Wickerman so it's priority for me this visit. I can't wait.

I'm absolutely going to have to make use of my exam leave to grab a few off peak days, such a good opportunity to make the most of our passes! My dad wanted to go on Rita last time we were there, but the queue was 50 minutes all day and when we did join the queue the ride shut down for a bit, so we'll definitely be over in dark forest for that one. Also hoping Hex will open again soon, it's always been a personal favourite of mine and I can't wait to see what changed with the maintenance! And, of course, grab my second ride of Smiler, those last two loops were an experience.
Off peak days are the BEST. we did smiler 5 times in a row all times walk on/station waits. Get your moneys worth haha
On both visits to AT this year, air has only been running one station. Long queues. On 2nd day of opening they tried to put a 2nd car on the track but had to remove it. They tried twice
I'm going to Towers for my birthday with my sister on 6th of June which is a Monday so hoping it will be quiet so get loadsa rides in! Last time we went longest we queued was 20 mins for wicker man and that was 2018 when it was brand new, Smiler etc were station waits or walk ons...hope it's like that again!

What is the best order to do the rides at alton towers? I'm going on saturday and hours are 10-5 so won't have long to do all of them iffy queueing all day
Head for Dark Forest or Forbidden Valley first!

With going to forbidden valley first I also find it’s not as reliable first thing the 3 times I’ve been something has been flooded or there has been technical difficulties so dark forest is definitely the way to go

Hi Shawn.! As I was on the last ride of hex since closing, it’s been shut as on my ride there was a jolt during the ride it came to a stop and we got evacuated around the building next to cloud coo coo land.! It wasn’t a bad incident but the ride has been shut ever since.!

I went on sunday went on smiler twice wickerman twice oblivion 3 times nemesis galactica rita thirteen rapids duel and gangsta granny cant wait to go back tho u arent wrong about that cobra roll on smiler that is rough now im bruised lol but still great anyway always love ur vlogs and cant wait to see more

We also had an amazing day on Wednesday - despite the horrific rain! Longest we queued was 10 minutes for Galactica. Mid week days are the way forward!

Totally agree about the 4D cinema great in door attraction that eats up the queues, They should show another film based on one of David Williams books. Also the Dungeon replacing a free family attraction with an up charge that won’t appeal to the whole family. They need more things for 7 - 12 age group I think.

I'm going Alton towers in July, but I'm going on my own. I've never been before. Says if I was too ride the smiler can I use the single rider line? Or do I need to pay extra costs? Any tips? Or advice for going there solo would help thanks

W had a great midweek visit recently did everything twice. I do think the Mine Train river rafting tunnel could do with a smidge of theming just to break up the flat concrete. Otherwise the parks was looking good and the rides felt really good. Smiler rode really well for us
Gotta love Alton Towers it’s such a great theme park since it opened back in the early 1980s and I think the retro t-shirts are stunning but I think the park should have Nemesis Sub-Terra with its opening year 2012 and even though it’s not really a retro attraction it’d still make a good look for a t-shirt

It was marketed as a major thrill coaster back in 2010, when the ride is actually a great family coaster!

Greetings 🙋🏼♀ Shawn 🚂 Chooo Chooo lol 😆, This park never fails to impress in terms for rides with so many different types of of attractions including indoor dark rides, it’s a shame about the spooky house and enterprise although the park has gained a lot of interest in the new 80’s ride, I really love 💕 hearing about people sharing their ride opinions experiences especially off peak days with just a walk on ride without the excessive long queuing times walking around at your own leisure. Been twice already to Towers. Managed every major ride twice on a Thursday and once over on a sunday
I am going to Alton Towers tomorrow by myself. It's the first time I've ever been to any theme park by myself. Hopefully it will be another quiet Wednesday like the previous 2 were (according to that queue time website) Any tips/advice? My basic plan for the day is to ride the main roller coasters for 6 hours straight with Wicker Man and Nemesis priority rides as I was underwhelmed by both on my previous visit, yet they are very highly praised by most.

@@ThemeParkWorldwide It was a great day and both Nemesis and Wicker Man were much MUCH better than last time I rode them. It felt like turbo day or something because every ride seemed more intense, them two especially. Or maybe last time I went was tortoise day?

Is it me or does oblivion hold you up there for such a short amount of time compared to other dive coasters? Literally one second. Baron 1898 at my home park holds u up for way longer. Why does oblivion do it for just 1?
Oblivion has a shorter hold time because of noise complaints from locals.
It used to hold for longer however doesn’t anymore unfortunately
