- Hurricane Ian's strong winds and storm surge is dangerous for millions of residents across Florida's west coast and for those covering the monster storm. The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore learned that first-hand covering the storm in Punta Gorda when he was hit by a branch.

You know you are in trouble if you see Jim Cantore setting up to do a broadcast.
Hes a fake clown that over hypes n does his fake acting
@@MRNASCARFAN25 i mean he was literally in the hurricane earlier, that wasn’t fake at all.
joke is as old as queen elizabeth
@@MRNASCARFAN25 would be in guard and away from you if was Cantore nor drink or eat anything you got to offer you poisonous looking for attention
@@straightbrutality9264 did u ever see his fake footage ? Of big fan during a small hurricane u know news lies to get ratings read it
Love how the Cameraman mops up the droplets!!💛🧡
If Jim Cantore isn’t a G I don’t know who is. He’s always been the wildest going into these storms.
Jim Cantore is the King and Reed Timmer is the Prince.
When word got out that Jim Cantore was setting up shop in Tampa, people starting taking this thing a lot more seriously. This is the second time a major hurricane was coming right at us and at the last minute, turned and hit Punta Gorda. Charlie did the same thing in 2004. I've lived in Florida my whole life and these are the only two hurricanes that ever had me packing my stuff to leave.
If anyone wants to help, don't send goods or items. Send money to local organizations. If you send goods, they have to arrange storage to store and sort it and a great expense. If you send cash, the locals can get what they need much quicker.
He set up shop in Clearwater, not Tampa. Irma was another one that was also forecasted to make landfall in the bay area but did so much further south
@@jolus6678 RUclips covers the whole world. I assumed more people would know the Tampa area then if I just said Clearwater.
Although, if it did hit Clearwater it could have cleaned out the Scientologists. That could be considered a win.
@@Elthenar , That's a ridiculous statement. Pinellas county is a far bigger attraction than Hillsboro so there's no way Clearwater is not well known. I've seen and heard commercials on TV and radio for "Come visit Clearwater/st. Pete" for as long as I can remember, even 30 years ago as a 7 year old in Pennsylvania. I never heard anything advertised about Tampa. And that's because Tampa is mainly just manufacturing and residential. Clearwater/st. Pete and the other "beachy towns" of Pinellas county are where everyone goes or hears about when they talk about the bay area. St. Pete has all the best night life in the bay area, and is popular for it's art scene, restaurants, museum's.etc. We get visitors from all over the world, Russia, Japan, the UK, etc.
Walmarts are starting to run out of food
@@jolus6678 THen why is every Sports team the Tampa Bay Whatevers. Why is the main airport in Tampa. Why is it called the Greater Tampa Bay area?
Just because St Pete has some beaches in no way means it's important.
i know we make jokes and stuff about reporters in a storm but man i hope he is ok and everyone else out there
Yeah
Yeah
I mean, he brought that upon himself. The hypocrisy to lecture others to leave and don't try to ride out the storm, and then he does the exact opposite and goes and stands out in it and makes a fool of himself.
Best of luck to the people who didn't have a choice to bare the brunt of the storm.
But Cantore needs to hang up the stupid acts.
@@SerPurple51 yeah your correct. But still best of luck for him even if he willing went out there
Well, it doesn’t take an Einstein to know bad things are gonna happen when you stand in the street during a hurricane!
what a trooper! didn't panic just kept calm and did what he could to get out of there haha
Likely staged not his first time
He should not even have been out there to begin with. What is it? Horrible example taking unnecessary risk I guess it’s all just to try and get ratings. Makes a net work in the sky look really bad.
one of those street signs flying by at 100MPH...might leave a mark
Guillotine?
There’s no one more committed in the weather industry than the great Jim Cantore! Please be safe.
No, you're in for a dramatic comedy 🤣
Is this a serious comment? Are you like a family member 🤣
I think it's idiotic to stand In harm's way to broadcast.
He should be committed. That’s just plain stupid & proves what? That hurricane winds are strong??? DUH!!! Get real, Weather Channel, and stop this dangerous crap.
And he spent 20 years in exile over his faked weather scenes…
Remember the tears and ridicule of Jim standing in a “wind storm”, while people walked by in the background carrying umbrellas?😅😅😅
What exactly was he trying to prove standing out there with those winds blowing.... Sorry, but I call that foolishness..
All the comments say that he shouldn't be be out there and all that... Then, you guys CLEARLY don't know Jim Contore. This man is CRAZY-AWESOME.
Yeah, he's like me.....we love freaky weather ⚡
Nah its a good calculated risk. Go down about a half a block, and then try to make it to that door. Either way the stress it will put on your body will be seen on your faces as your swept away, or when you make it back in for sure.
I'll just stick with crazy...
Lmao dudes about to fly like a kite “im ok I just cant stand” 🤣🤣
Twitter just doesn't know that Jim really is the realest G. He's been doing this for years, and it's his true passion. One of the few members of the American Workforce that never works a day in his life.
Jim is the best, hope he never stops doing his thing!
I know it's strong but some of that acting at the end is epic 🤣 I believe he adds a little extra to the situation sometimes nothing wrong with it though the dude really is putting himself on the line to report this stuff
After living through too many hurricanes and tornados in FLORIDA throughout the past years 1993 -22
It amazes me to this day
Why people want to blame someone else for their decision not to leave take care of themselves
I have compassion beyond for everyone it is heart wrenching to see anyone or any animal go through the trama of storms
The loss of life for any one person or any animal is too much too many
The recoveries are substantial to each of us and each of you
Every single person involved in the preparation of storms no matter how severe each storm is expected to be
Is doing everything for everyone’s safety
Most have experienced something in their own lifetime
No one not one single person can ever completely predict what will happen
Every weather expert every political Representative every FEMA person everyone wants each person who might be affected to be safe
We are told continuously to leave and get out of the storms path
When will we learn ? We are responsible for our own life and those we love our families or our animals and
No one can force anyone to leave their homes either
Jim! You covered a lotta storms buddy! I thank you! But please be safe!🙏🤗
It’s absolutely amazing that any buildings can stand up to that.
Building codes in Florida might just be the best in the country outside of cities that get earthquakes.
The code in Florida requires buildings to withstand either cat 3 or 4 storms.
@@superpieman5773 Yup after Hurricane Andrew the state updated our building codes. That much destruction was unheralded. Worse than Katrina and that’s saying something. The only reason it isn’t as publicized as Katrina is because it the rural part of Dade County, “down south.” It’s also why down south never developed as fast as Miami or any of the other cities in NW/NE Dade County. Too much damage set them back.
Right Jim it's not that the wind is blowing it's what the wind is blowing. Be safe out there
Its gotten to the point where the weather Channel reporters are wearing helmets...this is crazy...God bless them.
I’m sure he hates to see people go through this, but you can tell he gets a rush from his job.
I got scared for a second. It's a good thing that branch didn't do damage
is it?
BRANCH WON THE TOUCHDOWN
THE BRANCHES WON 1-0 ! THE SUPERBOWL
I've met Jim Cantore numerous times during numerous hurricanes. During Hurricane Georges 27 Sep 1998 he was set up at the Southern most point in Key West FL, acting like he could barely hang on. I walked behind him with ease and continued on my way.
Of course, one has to ask, would you walk behind him during this one?
No you did not
Hope Jim is ok. Please be safe
Jim Cantore is the only Weatherman I Love .he rocks !
Very brave of your reporters risking their life to cover this storm. Very much appreciated, thank you!
That was a DODGED BULLET with that swinging sign behind him.. wow. Jim Cantore is a boss.
He shouldn't be out in that either.
Calm down Karen, no one forcing him to do it. The man is a damn legend when it comes to hurricanes
@@__G___ He probably shouldn’t be out in that weather
@@DeltaSquadron63 you probably should mind your own business
@@__G___ Whatever you say, Karen.
@@__G___ He is a “legend” to the low-brow crowd who are easily entertained.
I just hope everyone stays in and stays safe. People can lose all sense with these things and think it's fun.
WE LOVE JIM
I don’t know why they do this I think it’s stupid they can film it live inside a safe building and show us from there then risking your life. I think it’s just stupid
Totally agree
The morons put more value on clicks and views and money than human life.
He's a legend, no doubt.
Just remember, lineman are out in the same weather repairing power lines with 14,000 volts.. Those are the true heros, not some guy hanging on to a road sign to make a video..
It was at this moment jim knew this wasnt a snowstorm
OMG glad you are okay 👍
Shouldn't have been out in the wind anyway. "Hey, let's "make" the news instead of just reporting it". Damn, I hate the hyperbolic weather news.
Prayers for everyone nationwide to stay strong at all times and safe and don’t do anything dangerous to risk your life it’s not worth it even if it’s your own job like the weather women on man talking it if the weather is starting up think bout your life and your families who’s thinking get home and stay safe.
Reporters should not be allowed to stand out in storms.
Show me the full shot where the producer is lobbing branches into the shot.
He originally landed at Tampa airport and set up in Clearwater because he thought we would get the worst of the storm here in Pinellas county. He packed up and rushed further south when it started to look like the worst would be down that way instead.
Jim either has really good insurance or no insurance at all.
the way they made the headline I was expecting to see a limb more than 2 feet long to come just sliding along the road and him tripping on it
Thank you! I thought I was gonna actually see him struck by a flying branch. Click bait won again.
could someone please explain to me the informational value of sending reporters into the middle of the storm?
That tree branch was a paid actor
If you see Jim and Co. get them coffee and donuts... then runaway... Fast.
Thanks to the weather channel and everyone else out there working to keep us safe.
Phew!! They made it sound so bad!! It just clipped his leg. Scary but glad he’s safe. Phew!!
It is scary when you're in it and/or you know what could fly his way next. I swear the empathy from people are ridiculous! These people are putting themselves on the line for us.
God bless everyone 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Now that's dedications.
That is extremely dangerous , I’m surprised the news station lets him put himself out there in the danger zone like that !!!!!!!💀💨
This gives me SpongeBob vibes, prayers for Florida
🤣🤣🤣🤣 the krusty krab 🍕 is the 🍕!!
The camera or sound guy that let that branch go perfectly and hit Jim like a perfect round of Plinko on the price is right, deserves a raise! Great aim!
I wondered that too
The hand coming out of nowhere scared the crap out of me 😂😂
Jim, stay safe!!!
Wow 😮145 mph😬
Jim Cantore 🤣🤣🤣 We needed that laugh, Now, let's pray for all the people in Florida. I pray for the safety of the Linemen that will put their lives on the line to restore power. God Bless each and every one of you. Sending prayers from drought-stricken California. ❤🙏🙏🙏
But that backside ☺️
My prayers for all that are affected.
Wow he is inside the eye that’s crazy reporting
Dang. I'd hardly call that a tree branch. Tree branches where I'm from can fall through people's houses and do some major damage.
I see. That looked more intense on my phone than on TV. I also see that you got my Legacy box & that so did Natasha. I assume that she has contacted you directly?
one street sign flying by could be lethal
Dang. Not Jim being knocked down….. that’s how the coast communities know this is really, really bad.
Does broken glass fly in hurricane winds?
Jim Cantore is still the man!
I always find it super stupid for weather repoters to be out in these conditions just to tell people that it's dangerous to be out here
Dudes crazy!!!
Jim always clowns around like this. SMH
Tell everyone to stay indoors and take shelter. Duh Jim!!! Don't go out in a hurricane.
Wow😮
Lol they tell you to stay same and inside while standing out in the storm. So unprofessional, so entertaining.
Mr. Cantore is a journalist and adventurer. Putting himself where it is most dangerous so we don’t have to be there. Thanks.
You are entertained and get a rush when someone gets hurt.
Got it.
thats 2 minutes from my house, I thank god that we did not get that hotel. we decided to go to englewood and even tho we lost the roof half the house and dealt with 12 feet of surge NEVER AGAIN!!! This storm is still reaking havoc with its surge DAYS" later!! pray for florida guys! this storm is incomparable to any other
It was a,cool storm. I was there.
Storm was horrible!! So frightening! Cleanup impossible without power. Scary mold forms quickly. Prayers to all still battling.
Legend
Yes he is🙏🙏🙏
The government tells everyone to evacuate. Media people are like, "We are special and exempt." Mother Nature then goes POW!
💀 bro wasn’t even hurt 😭
When there's a storm, the only guy I want to watch is Jim Cantore.
At 1:36 you can see a Storm Seeker from the Ryan Hall Y'all channel in the background
Crazy how the camera man is so still 😂😂💀stay safe
HES THE CAMERA MAN. He’s Invincible. To beat him would be….Inevitable
So from new england, loves weather and after he gets hit, you can hear him say, "Jeeysus"
My backside contains some winds too.
He's one crazy weather guy...... I can see an SNL skit coming soon.....
I was just saying yesterday how it is incredibly stupid and unnecessary to send reporters out in a hurricane. we know what one looks like. this proves my point. good thing it wasn't a whole tree.
Dang
Hi from Virginia Beach!!⛱
I didn’t see him almost die at all
It's raining sideways! Back to you Jenny
What a mad lad
Omg he has to be in that... wow
I wish the news wouldn't let their people film in harms way
It’s a circus act.
@@digitalwasabi2 And Cantore is the clown.
It's all done to boost their tv ratings, irregardless of the possible harm that could come from it.
I’m surprised they haven’t blamed climate change for that guy getting tripped ( not hit ) by that tree branch
Jim a real one.
The kind of guy who wants to feed a grizzly bear a candy bar.....
Them making news reporters stand outside is crazy.
She looked so concerned like a toaster or a robot.
I personally don't think it's necessary to report battling the wind. We get it but many of us know firsthand about hurricane damage. Reporters stand outside advising all to evacuate. Mixed message?
Who noticed stormseeker car from ryan hall yall 1:37
I hope this guy and his camera person get a bonus for this.
finally a weatherman not trying to get an academy award for acting
Can anyone tell me how the camera guy stayed still compared to Jim. I am assuming they were mounted to something.
standing behind a building
What a chad
Seriously?😮
Jim Cantore is IMMORTAL.
Until he gets wiped out by a hazardous flying object.
