You are so forth coming with all your insights. Everyone else just wants you to sign up. A true testament to the person you are. And a wealth of knowledge. This video is worth it's weight in gold. I know real good coaching is needed for everyone. But for those of us that can't afford it. This is wonderful. Thank you sir. Peace and blessings to you and yours much success to your channel.
This is by far the best tutorial I've seen! Thank you for taking the time to help with such an important lesson. Everyone just assumes they're going to get tears, and that's just the way it is. This shows that's not how it should be.Well done good sir.
+cliff manley thank you. Yes you may still get tears but should only be at a competition if at all. If you tear you cant train . training with tears on your hands is like running with blisters on,your feet training for a marathon.
I watched few videos about this topic and this gives the most information. I've been able to use the explanations and improve my technique. The demonstrations are excellent. Many thanks
no problem ross. there is definitely a style difference when using competition bells verse regular kettlebells most people have. but the grip and release should be the same.
Many thanks for the great instructions, Joe! Really detailed and thorough description of the KB grip & drop technique. You provide even more details than Valery Fedorenko, who really puts a lot of emphasis on this in his instruction videos. He says it only once, while you repeat over and over again and demonstrate in slow motion. Great stuff!
I have a few newer videos on the subject a lot of it has to do with lowering the bail as you deflect away from it but as you get High Reps even the smallest amount of rotation can develop heat in the hands and twist the skin to start a blister
awesome tips, almost like using a "false grip", w this technique first practice w a light bell as I get better increase weight until you can master the technique practice makes perfect Thank you sir!!!
Thanks a lot, its really useful info, i think your explaination is very specific and clear, it helped me to understand my mistakes and i think i can improve, my coach is good but i think he cant explain it too clear, i cant wait to go and practice more my tecnique
El Jando im happy i can help you. even great coaches have tough times explaining certain things. let me know how it goes and definitely let others know of this video. thank you.
I was going back through some of your earlier videos and came across this. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! The absolute best explanation of how to grip & not grip a kettlebell. This has upped my training/workouts a hell of a lot. Starting to consider entering some local competitions(If I can find any) in my area. Between your videos along with Valery Fedorenko's videos I'm learning I believe the right way. Thanks again.
Hi Joe, Awesome video and demo. I recntly tore my left middle callus on high rep snatches with 1pood kbells from onnit.com. The handle is much thicker with a primer/porous finish, making it harder to grip in the cradle of the fingers. Would you have any additional tips for this type of kbells?
Thank you. May we all never knock over any puppies or music with kettlebells, Comrade :) Quick question - how many times did you drop the bell BEFORE you got this sorted, when you practiced this?
@@kettlebellmusclegain sure thing. 😁😎 By the way I'm going over this whole Playlist STKB CONCENTRATE. I'm new to kettlebells, this is massively valuable. Much appreciated 🙏
In reference to your blurb; TRAIN HARDER LONGER TO GAIN STRENGTH AND LOSE FAT. You seem a genuine guy, and I'm not having a go in that respect. But that is not how you safely lose weight, and then keep it off. 3 to 20 minutes of high intensity training (HIT) there is no super high intensity training (SHIT). Kettlebells have been a revelation for me. 56 pounds lost and still counting. plus fantastic core strength and good health that I've never had before. But you need to rest for 48 hours between each workout, and no more than 40 minutes. And don't average more than 2 pounds a week in weight loss per month (no matter how big you are). I believe you are addicted to the endorphin rush after finishing your workout. You have also successfully built up your muscles over the years. Kudos to you. But 40 minute plus workout on KB is detrimental to weight loss and muscle growth. The appropriate diet and 3 training sessions of 20 minutes each is absolutely fine for people looking to lose weight and get in shape. Also, yes, you use a heavy KB because perpetual motion is an important part of the exercise and avoiding injury. But heavy is 10 kg to 16 kg. If 20 kg plus is ripping your hands apart; then jump down to 16 kg, if not 10 kg.
I still get blisters with gloves if I don't do it right and my hand just ripped last week with chalk. I'm working on technique so it doesn't happen again.

Nice explanation! i still suffer blister when snatching, difficult to cope with the speed of the bell when going down
I have a few newer videos on the subject a lot of it has to do with lowering the bail as you deflect away from it but as you get High Reps even the smallest amount of rotation can develop heat in the hands and twist the skin to start a blister

8:30-8:45 summarized it perfectly
Great video joe, any tips on why I feel my lower ribs digging into my abs when I’m doing snatch? Thanks
Not sure perhaps you have tight abs or diaphragm muscles.
Excellent explanation!!! Much Thanx!!!

I think I’m gonna have to buy some competition bells. I’m finding it difficult to catch the thick handle on my cast irons with my little hands.
Thanks man, good clear video.
+MrStuBStu youre welcoem
Would I be right in saying at no point do you squeeze grip the handle but alternating catching between fingers and thumb?
Very informative video thank you! Much appreciated!
Absolutely welcome
My right hand can do this, but with my left not so much, going to use a lighter weight as you say to get the technique.
Yes people usually have a more controlled hand. That is easier to do this with
Thanks for your sharing !!!
thanks for your watching!

That ends up more in the palm anyway. Best bet is to keep it from twisting in your skin.
Thank you.

Quick question - how many times did you drop the bell BEFORE you got this sorted, when you practiced this?
Haaha ive. Dropped the kettlebell maybe 10 times in 12 years.
Thank you
Of course. Now search for my #KENTUCKYBURPEES ! On this channel

Great even 9yrs later!!!
absolutely. i make stuff for longevity!
gloves re not recommended for kettlebell sport . and not allowed in competition. magnesium
chalk helps
youre welcome bjorkidentity
how many of you have torn your skin doing #cleans or #snatches with a #kettlebell ?
Me
did the video help you Abbie Moore ?
I learned to swing another day if I feel any sign of a tear. Usually a day is plenty to rest and recover.
www.teachmekettlebell.com is live now!
just wrap boxing wraps around it, or wear gloves, or get a sand kettlebell.
Cant do that in competition best is to learn how not to rip. But if you're not competing then it doesn't matter
I still get blisters with gloves if I don't do it right and my hand just ripped last week with chalk. I'm working on technique so it doesn't happen again.
#kettlebell form fixes
if youre ripping your hands with that girly toy you dont deserve a place in a gym.
+Andre Ledo happy you're so funny.
