- On the next leg of our Arizona Adventure we leave the Kofa Wildlife Refuge and head towards the Bradshaw Mountains. We explore some easy, technical trails, encounter several obstacles that lead to mechanical issues and breakdowns, and a get up close and personal with good amount of mud along the way. We also enjoy some good food and even better friendship around the campfire each night.

I grew up in Arizona and in the late 70's and early 80's. My friends and I all had 4 wheel drives and we would take off from school on Friday afternoon and not get back home until Sunday evening. It never got old. No cell phones or internet just our camping gears and guns. Our parents never worried either, my how times have changed. We would go to Rocky Point and camp out on Sand Beach, those days are gone.
Another awesome video, Brad! Thanks for coming along and doing such an epic job covering our adventure!
Thank you buddy for leading such an unforgettable adventure!
XJs make the wheeling look easy. They are so easy to place and avoid most objects. Great video.
It was great watching them in action on this trip. Thanks!
You have influenced my outdoor life in so many ways. I am a nurse for quadriplegics, I use your videos for the request of my patients. One of my patients asked/said drone camera work might make you work a little easier. In San Diego drones made easy might help train you if you are interested. You can set the drone to follow you. You have such great footage, you are appreciated so don’t think this a dig, my patients just want more of your great travels
Thank you so much for the great work you are doing and it's great that some of your patients are enjoying my videos. I have a drone and my son has his license to fly it commercially and we use them when we can, but there are a lot of limitations these days.
@@TrailRecon self flying drones have come a long way, check out the hoverx1 :)
XJ's, love watching them wheel. I sure miss mine but glad my grandson now owns it and wheels with his buddies. Brad, you made that mud hole look easy. Great vid. My group is now looking into this area for a future trip.
The Xj is awesome! One of my favorite grills they put on them.
I lead several trips out of the Wickenburg area. Both sides by sides and Jeep. Been over those roads several times . Always a new adventure,,
Awesome to see you playing in my backyard, it was weird to hear my hometown get mentioned in a youtube video. Glad to hear y'all had fun. Loved the video.
Thumbs-Up for the lady running up the hill with a fuel-pump!
Love that loop we spend so much time back there since it is so close. Glad you were able to spend sometime and see what Arizona has to offer. 🌵
What trail is this? Do you know where the trailhead is? Thanks.
@@JimmyDevere it’s a series of them but Bradshaws grave is near Wickenburg Mountain loop too many trails to connect pick your own adventure! 👍
@@AZXplorers Thanks for the info. Are you a 4x4 club? I'm in N AZ.
Boys I remember those days😊good times so sad we can’t don’t today 😢
Driving down that flowing wash was next level, but I %100 agree about the mud. 👍🏻❤️🇺🇸
Brad is the king of eating other trail members food!
LOL! I'm not going to turn down a hot meal!
Love the red XJ!
Arizona is amazing
Thnx for sharing the adv! I was just down there playing for a couple weeks, I feel fortunate to have seen a water-logged AZ
Man! This looks like such a good time!
Love all the videos and rigs, but the JKU that started it all is still my favorite too.
5:11 that was genuine, Brad.
Nothing like combing home from a camping trip to a great video like this!
Another great video of AZ back country. We have a lot of different sceneries here and all can be had in a day or two. I need to plan another adventure up to the Bradshaws again, soon. Thank you Brad for such a great video.
Adam with the XJ was one of the first guys I met in the Overland Community in 2017. He was working for Blue Ridge Overland Gear then. They are based out of of Bedford where I live. He is a great guy and remember him going through all the ups and down of putting a diesel engine in that XJ. Awesome guy with an awesome rig.
one thing I learned in Maine off roading. when in the mud do not let off the gas. you will get stuck. keep the momentum going. great video
Wow so beautiful! What an amazing adventure. You are inspiring and the landscape out there is amazing…ty! 😎🥾🥾
I love the AZ landscapes! Super stoked for the next episode!
this was an awesome watch. thank you for sharing with all of us. I can't wait to travel arizona like this
That for the inspiration to get out outdoors again.
This is one of your best videos. Love the variety of terrain and all the different vehicles. The trip looked like so much fun!
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it!
This comment hurt my feelings
awesome as always.thanks for sharing and taking us along
Thank you for joining me!
There is no way I can drive like you all did in this amazing video! even with good vehicle. Thank you for making such video and for me, there is a lot to learn from it.
I had a blast and thanks
Thanks for joining me!
Two minor breakdowns with that many rigs and that many miles? That's a win. And it's always a good idea to carry a spare fuel pump and ignition module. That was one lucky save for the Toyota!
Awesome journey.
Wow ur Jeep just plowed through that mud crossing...that was awesome, another great video, thank you!!!
Great video! Brad's vidoes are at a very professional.
Thank you!
Thank you for inviting us..... More
Inspirational video! 👍🏼
Thanks so much!
Awesome video Brad! Just lying in my rooftent on my jk while it's raining outside and watching your video. This is incredible cool. And it looks like you had a great adventure in AZ.
Thank you so much and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like you're in the perfect setting to watch it.
One of your all-time best, Brad!
Thank you!
Cool video. I have been to that Bradshaw grave site on my motorcycle. Very cool trails and I thought for a minute you were taking the back way to Crown King. That mud hole was small until 10 plus rigs ran thru it 😅
I LOVE this channel!
I love seeing XJ’s out there just cake walking on what looks like no bigger than 33’s!
That taco owner with the super soakers mounted on his bedrack is a legend😂, true inspiration for us all
Spectacular trip. Definitely a place to come back to.
Great video. So good to see the jk out, enjoy cleaning it….
I love me some Arizona! So mush mud is still on my Jeep. Wild winter we had. Even got to do some snow wheeling back in January at Crown King.
You always do such a great job capturing and then conveying a story! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you very much!
That trail and ride was awesome; how about part two 😎⭐️🤩👻
This was part 2, did you check out part one? ruclips.net/video/3LIECyKkzBw/видео.html
@@TrailRecon yes; I was hoping for more😎⭐️🤩🤣
Thanks for another multi--day epic adventure story, cool to see you're in my back yard. If you have interest in Indian ruins, you are headed directly into a target rich environment. Sycamore Canyon with its rare, two story lodge house is where I hope you're going as it takes a Rubicon and crawling to get there but is massively photogenic and rewarding to see.
Don't forget other great Off Roads in AZ, such as traversing the Mogollon Rim or the 5 Cliffs that make up the Grand Escalante in N Arizona (Chocolate, Vermilion, White, Grey, and Pink Cliffs) / Utah
Good knowledge, I'm looking forward to going back and exploring more, thank you!
I think one of the best things (that I’ve used for years) that Brad introduced us to was the 67 designs mounting systems. Those are the best and still solid as a rock something like 3-4 years later. Other great accessories too of course but I use this one in my jeep and my semi while I’m out on the road.
I love watching your adventures. Helps me plan for my future travels. I'm down in Central Florida, so I dream of heading out west one of these days.
That was my back yard when I was a kid growing up
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Love that you’re still lovin the jku!
Another great video.
Brad this adventure was awesome man keep it man true inspiration 👏 thanks man!
Thank you!
Brad is a genius at video creating . Keep it up !
That was a great video!! Always feel like I'm there with ya!
My back yard man Love that trail have done it 10-12 times Awesome vidieo as always
Cool video. Good to see some Toyotas in the mix along with the Jeeps and a Scout! Keep the great videos coming Brad.
Thanks! Will do!
Just stumbled across your channel... thanks for bringing us along for the trip. Definitely a beautiful area for certain. I saw the MCPO sticker on the glass... always great to find another brother of the sea. Just finishing up a 22 yr career myself and looking to do a bit of traveling and exploring as well. So thanks again for letting me live vicariously through your trips in the meantime. Take care and stay safe, I look forward to seeing more trips in the future.
You have the best riding suspension I’ve seen on camera.
What a perfect trip!
Great video. Lots of great technical driving. Loved to see some deep mud. Living and off roading in the UK 🇬🇧 that's most off what I've encountered over here.
Really nice to see some love for the JK.
How fun! Thanks for the video!
Fun video! Thanks Brad-
Glad you enjoyed it!
2023 rubicon gladiator here. 3.6L with 850RE 8 speed transmission.
Bought it brand new, 4300 miles. Haven’t even got my first oil change yet. Dealer says they have to replace the entire transmission already. Been in a rental for 2 weeks already, they just called today after me calling them 3 times today to see if my truck is fixed and ready, and told me they have to replace the transmission now.
Should of bought a Toyota lol. Honestly that's why I bought the Tacoma over the Gladiator. Rock solid reliability
Hi Sir, Mr Brad. i really enjoy your video, believe it or not I watch it from the start until finish. That was stunning back there. Moreover got beautiful place when you travel. Awesome vids.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Brad! I agree that AZ has so many areas to explore. Haven’t done too much North of Phoenix but I have enjoyed many great adventures in the Southern part! Looking forward to running in to you one day out there! Cheers
I have been wheeling the Bradshaw's for decades and it never gets old. There is always something to discover.
I'm looking forward to getting back out there again soon and see what else I can find!
@@TrailRecon You will find a lot of amazing trails, vistas and snakes.
XJ just flies over that mud hole like it's nothing 🤣😂
Last year we drove through AZ in early April. I was surprised at the trees in Payson AZ.
Dude you were in my hood...nice
Great video Brad! Was a great trip!
Oh yeah you in my neck of the woods. Good ol' Box Canyon Wickenburg we used to go every weekend , to bad you didn't get to see Snoopy In Copperopolis, Mistake mine and the trail its on right above the Box Canyon walls, also Anderson Mill , there so much out here its hard to name all of it. well hopefully you can make it back soon the weather is so perfect right now
Can't wait to go back and explore more!
My grandparents were born out in them thar parts, in 1891 and 1901... Mother, aunts, uncles too. I need to get out there, somehow in my little Mighty TJ!
Thanks Brad for all your information . my son a d I are takein our first overland trip out to Cali . We're from mass .hope to see you on the trail . your a great inspiration
Thank you and safe travels on your upcoming trip!
Man. I've been looking forward to this - I was at work when I saw the video dropped and couldn't wait to watch. I feel you when you said that while the 392 is fun, you love that JK. I have a JLU that I'm slowly building up. Right now it's just got a 2" spacer lift but I'll eventually put some real lift springs on it, some longer shocks, steel bumper and winch, a regear... patience is the key. But I love seeing it slowly go from stock to _mine._ Its not a $70k Rubicon with $50k of mods but it's _mine,_ I built it with my own sweat, time and blood. I eventually want to get a gladiator, but I don't think I'll ever sell this jeep. It's mine. I love it.
Thank you and I'll be your Jeep will take you on some great adventures that you'll never forget.
@@TrailRecon it already is. I went to Hurricane Creek NC the other day. Fairly mild trail (4/10 on OnX Offroad), only a few obstacles that would give even a stock Willys an issue, but just right for a relative beginner by himself. Super fun with the doors and top off.
Like to see more video of the area as your passing thru.
The fact that someone had a fuel pump on the trail is the most off the wall thing ever lol
Check out Skyline Drive in Utah some time. It's probably the most scenic Jeep trail I've been on.
Great episode Brad, I’m with you, I hate mud.
I don't know if y'all noticed it, but the main bridge in Wickenburg is posted "No Fishing From Bridge". I thought about not saying anything after this, HOWEVER after all my years of trucking down to Phoenix from Utah, the joke is 364 days a year, the wash under that bridge is usually as dry as a bone and even the first-time visitor would laugh a bit. But if you think that the city had to create and maintain those signs, at some level, someone was serious about it. Here's hoping you guys had better luck along your washed out trail!! Lol 👍🤣
I didn't notice, but that's pretty funny! I'll have to be on lookout for the sign next time!
As a nearly lifelong Nevadan, I never fail to be amazed by the biodiversity of Arizona. Truly an amazing state. Looks like the ride of a lifetime.
Hi Brad, this is also Brad, and we also share a military career and interest in all things Jeep. I have a few questions about your build because I've been on the fence with some of the upgrades you've undertaken. Lets start easy and go into more challenging:
1) What is your overall height with the 6" lift and 39" tires? I'm considering the same, but concerned about it still fitting in my garage.
2) You mentioned originally having 4" of lift with your long-arm, but upgraded to 6" because of rubbing/clearance. Did you do size up in part because you didn't want to trim and sheet metal, or where there more complicating matters?
3) What axle width did you go with (and are you augmenting with spacers)?
4) What gearing do you have in your axles? I know you had previously upgraded to 4.88 gears, but I'm curious if you upgraded to 5.13 or 5.38 for the 39" tires with your automatic transmission and vision for this rig to hit more challenging rock crawls. I'm curious which gear set you currently have, but also if there is a gear set you wish you would have went with. Also, what RPM do you experience at say 70 or 75 mph? I'm leaning towards 5.38, but a little cautious about being over-geared for freeway driving to trailheads in the SW.
5) Hydro steering. I know you upgraded to the XD steering box, but hadn't decided on the hydro assist. Now, that you have a long weekend on some long trails, have you decided if hydro is a necessary upgrade?
LOL, Ok, that's a lot to answer, so let me just try and summarize, yes the Jeep still fits in the garage, not sure the overall height. The tereaflex kit has all adjustable components, so just corrected everything for the 6" springs, standard width axles (would have gone longer width to do it over), 5:38's, I have HD steering box, but hydro would be nice.
@@TrailRecon Regarding the 5:38 gearing: What RPMs are you experiencing on the freeway, at 70-75? I'm considering the same gearing and a 38-39" tire, but I'm concerned it might be over-geared for 500-800 mile trips to Moab and Rubicon.
Slowing down in a mud bog in my experience is never a good idea…. Slowly moving through getting stuck and creating deep ruts is not treading lightly… it’s not what to do..the right side was wide enough to pass without damaging the trail.Great video keep them coming!
Thank you! There are lessons learned on the trails all the time and I think some folks realized after this that momentum is the key in thick mud. I don't think I gave a good perspective on the camera angle, there was big tree on one side and a large burm on the other, so not a lot of options to go around, plus I'm not a proponent of blazing new trail to avoid obstacles if you don't have to.
Hey brad! Looking to buy my first jeep it's a 2014 sahara hoping to close by this next week. I'm so excited to join the jeep community! I come from the diesel world so a change of pace will be nice.
Thanks for the video. Your content is the industry standard, as always. Question though, you mentioned that your JK used to wander and require much steering input. What finally solved it? I’m chasing the same issue in my 2014 JK. It’s on a factory Mopar lift with nearly 200k miles. At this point I’ve replaced shocks, ball joints, tie-rod and drag link ends, sway bar links, steering stabilizer, and gotten it re-aligned, and the body roll and wandering still won’t stop. My next step is better quality shocks, but I’m thinking it might just need be time for a whole new suspension.
The biggest correction was the Dyanatrac Pro Rock 44 that was designed with the bracket to accommodate the lift, plus the long arm lift kit... dramatic improvement in ride quality.
Cool video!!
Such an awesome trip and great video. We would typically find a campsite a couple hours earlier each day, around 3pm, to have time to hike around.
I'm with you, getting to camp a little earlier is always preferred, but these trips are mean to cover ground and see as much as possible. I did go on a little hike that second morning when I found that creek running through the mountains... Next time I'll slow it down a bit.
28:56......Brad you and the Mrs. are going to move to AZ now aren't you? Seems every time you go there you are amazed. I would too, in a heart beat.
No plans to move, but I'll be making my way out there more in the coming year!
Happy late birthday Brad
Nice so cool
AGUA FRIA!
Awesome epik video 👍
Thanks!
16:21 it looked like they were all about to take a wiz
How Awesome to see, Trailrecon, Overland Bound, Litebright Nation, Swell Runner, Edward Shin @KrokemOutdoors, Primal Outdoors, Jason AutoEdits on a adventure together. I know everyone has their schedules but this would be awesome adventure to see you all converse and work together and share experience. Something to wish for.
I've been out on the trails with several you listed, but it would be fun to do a big adventure sometime.
Love AZ wheeling!
Cool adventure!
