This feature also allows you to cast a 1st level spell from your expanded spell list without using a spell slot once per long rest. - Level 10 Nature’s Ward: Gain a damage resistance based on the terrain your chose at first level. You are also immune to the poisoned condition. - Level 14 Nature’s Sanctuary: Expend a use of Wild Shape to create trees and vines in an area. Circle of the Sea: -Level 3 Wrath of the Sea- Expend a use of Wild Shape to manifest a small storm around them. You also gain resistance to Lightning, Cold, and Thunder damage. Not sure if this resistance is active all the time or only while Wrath of the Sea is active. -Level 14 Oceanic Gift: You can manifest your Wrath of the Sea around another creature. Circle of Stars: -Identical to the version we currently have besides some minor changes to leveling as the subclass is now granted at level 3.

Eldritch smite bear can still be a thing. It does take at least 5 lvls of warlock though, but I like it. There's also still like always the possibility to wild shape into something with hands and dip soul knife rogue. I’m not 100% on the new Druid. It’ll be easier to judge once I have the book in hand and can see their spells but it feels like the main fantasy of them that I like to lean into, elemental forces and shifting into bigger and stronger animals has been lost. The sea Druid appears to be an attempt to have the tempest cleric as a Druid and I’m not sure if it works. They’ve also stripped out the exotic land archetypes such as the underdark. I’m really surprised they kept circle of the stars as a poster Druid. I’m guessing someone at wizards really loves it but as a nature guy it just doesn’t feel that druidy for me.
Rip wild shape, rip divine smite. During the playtests I was apart of or Dm’ed for the Druid was the classes that went down the most and died the most if they fought with wild shape by a huge margin! The temp HP comes no where close to the amount of HP the full animal form granted at mid to higher levels .
Yeah, that's crazy because I'm dming for a group now. With both a palatin and a druid, and those are the two sturdiest characters in the group, Even with the changes in the play. Tests and whatnot, like they're still beyond terrifying at. Level four, Like the only reason the drew had ever went down was because they were level one and got hit with a crit from a goblin
After watching so many of these I feel like every class is becoming a generalist class. I don’t feel like there is as much of a niche for everyone. When you’re all amazing no one is special.
the appeal in these is that they're significantly more flexible than they used to be. previously there was a set arrangement of ideal races and subclasses if you wanted to be mechanically sound, and people who played for flavor were at a disadvantage, but now you can do both.
Right now they only are focusing on 4 that are in the handbook, but I would be surprised if Dream and Shepherd (seeing how conjure animals no longer works with them) are changed in future books. We just have to wait... (or homebrew)
One weird and awkward (flavor-wise) quirk of the new wild shape hit points: *you can’t heal the animal form.* Just the person in? The form? You can’t restore hit points to the animal form the Druid is in, and while the Druid will be at full or should be near full once those temporary hit points drop (and with it, the form itself), you also can’t keep the Druid from dropping in those temporary hit points like you could before. I understand it from a game balance perspective, but can’t wrap my head around it from an in-universe perspective. It’s another of those things that just kinda… takes me out of the game a bit. Like, imagine this: A Druid is doing just fine, but in wild shape and looking rough, they’ve taken some hits. A cleric comes by, heals them, aaaand… nothing happens. They touch this bear, the spell goes off without a hitch, and the bear’s wounds do not change. How does that work??? In a physical sense??? This is an issue. I might just be misinterpreting it and it’s just a massive nerf bat to druid wild shape, removing almost any and all extra hp they might gain from a new form.
Still kind of shocked that so few people played druids considering how OP they were. Now they've pretty much nerfed why people liked them and they expect this to lead to more people playing the class? I guess we'll see.
Some things are better. For example as druid you can use wildshape for things other than wildshaping. The sea druid gets wrath of the sea which you can have up alot if you want. Stars druid obviously wants it's starry forms. Land druid has more magic options and castings if it wants, moon druid does what it does.
A variant human with Skill Expert could have (16 INT 16 WIS) a potential +10 nature bonus at 1st level... Wow. BA Wild Shape is incredible to buff every Druid. Find Familiar as a free spell for Druids is massive. Talking animals?! Holy crap! Wild Resurgence is nuts. It is like Sorcery Points for Druids. +300ft on cantrips?! Holy crap! Moon Druids sound terrifying!
Variant Humans don’t exist in PHB 2024, EVERY Human gets an extra Origin feat. Also an automatic Inspiration point if they finish a long rest without one. Wild Resurgence is much more like a weaker Arcane Recovery.
Ranger seems bad because it's trying to do everything. Weapon mastery, expertise, tracking and intelligence checks for monster details, spells, fighting style, extra attacks roving as an exploration feature, tireless as another exploration feature, invisibility for all rangers, ect The big issue is tracking, monster knowledge and exploration isn't valued highly
Lol. Every day there are comments across the community about how this new thing makes a different new thing we haven't looked at yet obsolete or ruins something else we haven't seen yet. We literally have no idea what ranger will look like yet. Just wait another, what, day?
Well, they wanted all subclasses to have the same number of subclasses, and 8 per class would have been wild. Side benefit (knowing Hasbro, the actual reason): They can sell those to you later now.
@@barcster2003 Light, Life, Trickery, and War. They said during one of the playtest videos that they are staying to 4 subs each, and related pairs. Rogue was assassin and magic assassin(soul knife), thief and magic thief(arcane trickster), wizard iirc will be Abjuration and Evocation (protection and damage), and Divination and Illusions (cleric theme 2 again), so on.
22:37 "we want you to keep comfortably fighting in your druid form." So they give you 3x your druid level in unhealable temp HP. 3x WoOoO sO gOoD. What were they thinking? Your wild shapes are going to be useless at higher levels still because you're still a caster with a d8, and 3x druid level TEMP HP does nothing to help you gain an upper hand to be on a similar level to a fighter. Your AC is also bad because it's not like you can upgrade it? Your max will be 18AC which again. At around lvl 7-8 will already be asinine. Creatures easily hit 18 semi regularly around lvl 5. Above 10th lvl you will need some buffers or you would be better off staying a caster in the backlines This is such a horrid change to moon druid.
I have a sneaking suspicion that these new books are not going to be very popular with new players. Whenever I’m trying to teach a new person about Dungeons & Dragons the thing that makes it hard for them is all the choices they have to make. From what I’ve seen from a lot of the options in these new books that just adds to the amount of decisions, a new player has to make in building a character. With the old books the only decisions you really have to make with spellcaster is what spells are you picking and what is your sub class. And even that is difficult for some new players. They didn’t simplify the Druid at all because you still have to look in the monster manual for all the wild shapes but now you can’t even use the wild shapes HP to give you a buff which is why I really don’t like the new Druitt very much.
@@NovelVanguard when they said about Moon druid. Now you have your character HP even in whild form (so now you don't have x3 HP due to 2 transformation on level 2). You only get temporary HP while wildshape.

They’ve also stripped out the exotic land archetypes such as the underdark. I’m really surprised they kept circle of the stars as a poster Druid. I’m guessing someone at wizards really loves it but as a nature guy it just doesn’t feel that druidy for me.
I missed stream 😭 it was 1:30 at my time while streaming!!!
Rip wild shape, rip divine smite. During the playtests I was apart of or Dm’ed for the Druid was the classes that went down the most and died the most if they fought with wild shape by a huge margin! The temp HP comes no where close to the amount of HP the full animal form granted at mid to higher levels .
Did they not discover the exploit where you can burn a spell slot and get all your temp HP back every round?
Yeah, that's crazy because I'm dming for a group now. With both a palatin and a druid, and those are the two sturdiest characters in the group, Even with the changes in the play. Tests and whatnot, like they're still beyond terrifying at. Level four, Like the only reason the drew had ever went down was because they were level one and got hit with a crit from a goblin
@@XanderHarris1023if you are willing to burn a spell slot sure.
@@barcster2003 don’t think you can cast a spell while wild shaped so u should be willing to burn those slots bud
After watching so many of these I feel like every class is becoming a generalist class. I don’t feel like there is as much of a niche for everyone. When you’re all amazing no one is special.
Well as long as no one is feeling left behind I call it a win. And there's a difference between special & unique.
the appeal in these is that they're significantly more flexible than they used to be. previously there was a set arrangement of ideal races and subclasses if you wanted to be mechanically sound, and people who played for flavor were at a disadvantage, but now you can do both.
honestly going to miss the "destruction and rebirth" aspect of the wildfire druid
*cries in tempest cleric*
omg i'm so happy circle of stars is base game now!
Wait, circle of the moon basically gets hidden pathways too at 14?
Wth? Dream druid gets no tweaks? There's almost nothing special about it now. 😢
Old subclasses are fodder for reusing good features, get used to it.
Right now they only are focusing on 4 that are in the handbook, but I would be surprised if Dream and Shepherd (seeing how conjure animals no longer works with them) are changed in future books. We just have to wait... (or homebrew)
Ah bummer. I missed the stream :(
Me too 😢
Can I still use wildfire from the older books?
You should be able to. Backwards compatible and all that :p
The new Druid, the new-Id if you will
One weird and awkward (flavor-wise) quirk of the new wild shape hit points: *you can’t heal the animal form.* Just the person in?
Like, imagine this:
A Druid is doing just fine, but in wild shape and looking rough, they’ve taken some hits.
They don't drop the form when the temp hp goes away but yes it's not as tanky.
If a Druid got 20 intelligence, 20 wisdom & expertise in Nature then that's a +22.
Variant Humans don’t exist in PHB 2024, EVERY Human gets an extra Origin feat. Also an automatic Inspiration point if they finish a long rest without one.
Wild Resurgence is much more like a weaker Arcane Recovery.
You know I forgot you could choose proficiency in the skill to make it relevant. I still think the crazy thing is the Arcana proficiency.
Why are Druids so much better than Rangers? Seriously what the hell?
Ranger seems bad because it's trying to do everything.
Weapon mastery, expertise, tracking and intelligence checks for monster details, spells, fighting style, extra attacks roving as an exploration feature, tireless as another exploration feature, invisibility for all rangers, ect
The big issue is tracking, monster knowledge and exploration isn't valued highly
"sharknado" no, tempest of Mosasaurs
Truly wild
So every druid now makes both being a firbolg and being a beastmaster ranger obsolete
Lol. Every day there are comments across the community about how this new thing makes a different new thing we haven't looked at yet obsolete or ruins something else we haven't seen yet. We literally have no idea what ranger will look like yet. Just wait another, what, day?
Except Wizard going from all 8 schools of magic down to only 4.
Well, they wanted all subclasses to have the same number of subclasses, and 8 per class would have been wild. Side benefit (knowing Hasbro, the actual reason): They can sell those to you later now.
Clerics are also going to loose base game subclasses.
@@barcster2003
Light, Life, Trickery, and War. They said during one of the playtest videos that they are staying to 4 subs each, and related pairs. For cleric it's War and Life, and Trickery (illusion/lies) and Light (truth/revealing). Druid was Land and Seas, Moon and Stars. Rogue was assassin and magic assassin(soul knife), thief and magic thief(arcane trickster), wizard iirc will be Abjuration and Evocation (protection and damage), and Divination and Illusions (cleric theme 2 again), so on.
@@shimasclan Thank goodness that my Wizard can still be Illusion!
Just use old subclasses and backport new things that make sense.
Sad that the zswamp & Underdark Land Druids aren't in it. But I suppose that you can just coppy & paste
I get why they didn't it's already pretty nutty with 4 lands you can switch out.

"we want you to keep comfortably fighting in your druid form."
So they give you 3x your druid level in unhealable temp HP. 3x
WoOoO sO gOoD.
Above 10th lvl you will need some buffers or you would be better off staying a caster in the backlines
This is such a horrid change to moon druid.
5:28
they're lying
Why even play Ranger at this point?
So, no Primeval Druid, huh?
Massive nerf to moon druids survivability playstyle killing nerf
Removal of species bonuses in wildshape is a really dumb decision. You've no reason to play anything but a Human Moon Druid
melee ranger is so dead lol
Every time someone says this and 99 times out of 100 they look stupid.
@@brilobox2 You're right, the entire 2024 Ranger is dead, not just melee.
I like pathfinders druid abilities to transform into humanoids, that could be useful in d and d!!
Sharknadooooo xD
remove the stars circle and give me the Cricle primeval from the UA thatw as gonna go intot he giants book you cowards! I WANT MY DINOSAUR DRUID!
Sharknado was a stupid movie. Plan 9 from Outer Space was better.
Yup, the ruined yet another good feature in the game. So crapped on Smite, and now on Wild Shape. Well those are two changes I wont be using. Stupid.
How, did I miss that part of the change to wild shape besides it being a bonus action was something else changed?
@@NovelVanguard when they said about Moon druid. Now you have your character HP even in whild form (so now you don't have x3 HP due to 2 transformation on level 2). You only get temporary HP while wildshape.
Yup Rip wild shape and divine smite. I and my players will never use those changes
@@takeshimovies5869 I think that’s total fine. That doesn’t ruin wildshape at all I actually think it’s pretty fair. I heard Jeremey say that and didn’t think it was bad in the slightest.
@@kozmayhem7520 I kinda get not using the Divine smite changes cause will I don’t mind it being able to be counter spelled the cost of a bonus action ruins it for me personally. But the wild shape changes are fine you guys made it sound like it was a terrible change I’d totally use the new one over the old
