I have this itch where I love to buy games on sale on the eShop that I'll likely never have the free time to play (at this point in life anyway). You have been one of the consistent YTers I've found who reviews the Switch versions of games that end up periodically go on sale. You're awesome! Anytime I google a switch game review of a game on sale and you come up, I have a sigh of relief, because I know I'll be able to get good advice about potentially making a purchase. I absolutely appreciate you for the work that you do. I wish you continued success and good fortune in the future! 💰
I feel the back tracking and puzzle solving is the core to a RE game. So a game without them dont feel like a real RE game. It makes the game feel bigger and open.
@@GenerallyTyler It's one of the best aspects of them. Sure the puzzles don't make much sense from a world building perspective, but I'm willing to accept that everyone in RE land is obsessed with living in literal puzzle boxes. The end of RE will be when then do an open world one
It’s so rewarding. I got it in 2002 upon initial release as a 11 year old. But it was too complicated for me at the time. I didn’t beat it until I revisited it 4 years ago on the 360. Now I’ve beaten it countless times. Jill’s story is the best
I think the backtracking is gold in this game for once, since you cannot kill every enemies and some of them refresh you have to organise your way and make safe path when you know there will be backtracking making it a giant puzzle on its own.
About the changing camera angles and making you go backward it is only if you use alternate controls which are an anomaly really. The game tank controls were made because they are the only one working well with such fixed camera angles and once you learn them you never want to go back and it works flawlessly.
I don't know if it's too late, but yes, there are difficulty settings as well as two different characters, with one (Chris? being usually considered more difficult than the other one (Jill).
I still have my original copy for the ps1 and the original copies for the gamecube resident evil 1 remake and 0 and the origin collection for the xb1s and switch.
Awesome. Only thing I dont like is the color spectrum. I love the old horror games which still have colors. Like Resident Evil or Diablo 2. Nowadays to make something eary or creapy they just try to make it more colorless.
It's nice to have on the go with the switch but the best experience imo is just playing it on pc or more powerful consoles for better visuals and load times. Also back tracking is a core element of RE dating back to 96 so I don't quite understand your gripe if you're familiar with the series then it should be no surprise when playing the older games. That's what survival horror is lmao.
Loved this game when it came out, don't know if I'd want to play it now tho, couldn't cope with the camera, I think on the Xbox and playstation they put in a movable camera?
@@Patkillskenny I feel like everyone whose played 0 would disagree that its "fine." The graphics might be but the game is a slog to play and the inventory system is busted. A remake might be too much but improvements can be made to that game.
@@habadasheryjones It's still too "New". while I agree it has its problems (such as the inventory system it's hit or miss), but even with that problem I felt it aged better than Code Veronica and Outbreak.
Why’d they call it remaster? It actually was a remake, and games marketed as remakes sell better then remasters. That’s why companies lie about it 10% of the time.
@@LordMarvin1993 Nope the switch version is a full on remake. Capcom lost most of the source code and had to rebuild the game almost from scratch. That's why they took so long for it to come out.
Resident evil 1 remake is the only resident evil remake that doesn't take anything away re2 got rid of the spiders and crows re3 got rid of both that and the clocktower but re1 remake kept everything from the original and expanded on that
The amount of people who don't know how to use tank controls and mark them as outdated instead just completely baffles me. Meanwhile, they use the modern controls and struggle with every camera angle change and don't complain about that for some reason.
When turning requires you to stop moving forward, manually turn your character to the side and then hitting the forward button to go up again. Or having clunky turning if you turned as you were moving. That’s how you had to play RE1 on the OG PlayStation back in the 90s.
Same with the fixed camera angles, makes it feel so much more tense and panic inducing. The whole point is that you know something is there but you can't see it.
I played the ps1 version in the days and prefer the visuals from the ps1 over the switch version. A game doesnt need to be dark and colorless to be eary or scary to me.
Personally whilst the game looks better than ever, I do think the game mechanics and backtracking are a product of the 90s and I much prefer RER series over this, the game is simply more fun to play and quicker sense of speed. If you have never played RE original before or any RE this is a decent place to start.
sorry had to dislike you make it a point to spoil to much instead of sticking to more important aspects which admittedly probably isn't much but still.

yeah, the classic remastered fell very"resident evil"
Absolutely. In a way it's rather similar to a 3d metroidvania game.
@@cheeeeezewizzz I had the same realization a few days ago. The classics definitely have a metroidvania vibe.

Such a SOLID review! 👌
You do an awesome job making these!!!
I still need to get this game. Never did beat it when I had it back on the Gamecube though.
Same here bro

It would be easier if you played it on ps1.
Yeah man time to dust off the cube and revisit the masterpiece of number 4. Evil
I bought the collection last Black Friday along with 0 and RE2 remake on my xbox. Enjoyed running thru all of them
I think the backtracking is gold in this game for once, since you cannot kill every enemies and some of them refresh you have to organise your way and make safe path when you know there will be backtracking making it a giant puzzle on its own.
This and part 4 for cube were my favorite and RE2 phenomenal trio
My favorite resi game 😍 but the switch version and the loading times make me not want to get it, also TANK controls for the win! Great review!

3:52 Same character, lol
thanks, very helpful video!
I feel that if the remake and zero was originally released on the nintendo gamecube it would have been fitting to see origin collection on the switch.
They released in th same box i remember playing through both as a kid andloving them. Absolutely agree they should just bundle them
graphics is pretty good, i played the GC first but this is beautiful as well

I remember the cutscenes would LAG on the gamecube version.
Just wondered if it did it on switch...
So here I am

I like gc still more cuz it's more dark and better atmosphere
You mentioned there being an Auto Aim feature, that is great to hear. But, is there a Difficulty Setting for the game? Thank you.

"Nowadays" was 2 decades ago.
Out of the 6 games in the switch, not counting revelations, which do you believe is the best?
4
I didn't like revelations. I got it for the 3ds, thought it looked nice - but overall it felt bland AF
Can you do Darksiders 2 please

It is not the first time this games is on a portable device. It was also available on ps vita

Nope
We better get remakes of Code: Veronica, 0, and this before 4 or I’ll be annoyed.
Re 1 and 0 doesn't need a remake, they still look fine and they aged fine. Code Veronica and outbreak deserve it more.
I see no reason to remake 1 or 0, but yeah Code Veronica needs some love.
