Hey, can I use this for playing mobile legends on iPhone? And do I need to have a PlayStation first so I can use this on my phone or it's just will connect automatically to the PlayStation games?

I can’t find a direct answer to this question and you seem knowledgeable and responsive so I’ll try here. I have a ps5 and want to get this for my brother. Can he stream from his account via remote play while I’m on my account physically playing the console?
Hi Deeva. I don’t think this would work. Might be worth testing out using standard remote play on a phone to see what happens if you’re playing via remote play and the console switches user.
My instinct is that it would just mirror it on the phone but 🤷🏻♂️
Tbh I got this and it’s better optimised for xcloud. One example is I don’t have to double tap my screen to access the touchpad and xcloud doesn’t need a WiFi connection to access my console…which is good as I don’t own a Xbox.

A word of caution...if you buy from Amazon, it says that whatever version you buy (Xbox or PlayStation), you will be able to remote play with the BackBone. You can't....only with the Playstation version you can.
FYI when you're on remote play and have your console on restmode it doesnt stay on remoste it litteraly turns on the console and you can watch everything you do on your tv
So just keep in mind if when your away and you have roommates that like to use your tv that happens
Makes sense. They can switch sources to watch something else though- the PS just needs to be on.
Haha I forgot you can unplug the HDMI with out it affecting the console
Also I personally think they overpriced the back bone I think $40 to $60 bucks would have been fair maybe $80 would get me thinking about it but $100 I'll pass

Hi Hayden, that’s absolutely correct. Xbox games without owning an Xbox. Hopefully Sony will cotton on! Some good deals on new game pass Ultimate accounts at the moment.
Is there any way to use your full phone screen iPhone 14 when I’m using remote play? its about an inch on each side with black bars.
An inch on each side? That doesn’t sound like it’s working properly. As you can see in my footage it is normal to see a bit of a black bar on either side (iPhone Pro Max shown).

Sister just got this for the PS4 and it isn't working in regards to connect, both phone and PS4 is connected to the same wifi, as well as the phone having data enabled. Question is, how can I connect it again? We got it the first time, but now it continues to fail to find it, despite me putting in the link code.
Hmm. Haven’t run into this before. I’d recommend deleting the app (both backbone and remote play) from the phone. Restart the console and then re-download the apps and start from scratch.
Love the Backbone but it's crazy expensive. Having looked into this for some time now, Gamesir seems to be best (relatively affordable) option but I've gotta go for the Kishi for how it handles (still cheaper). I’m ordering it now for my iPhone. Up until now I’ve been playing a number of games on my phone with touchscreen controls like WWE 2K22, Star Wars Squadrons, Dirt 5 and loving it (I even posted a few vids) - crazy that you can play such powerful games on your phone with touchscreen controls - but it’s time to give a good controller a go.
Yep - plus if you have something to stand your phone on I think phone + dual sense is a legit set-up for remote/portable gaming. iPad and dual sense even better.
Are you able to use those mobile controllers for PS Remote Play? I’m looking for a less expensive alternative but I can’t seem to find one.

What other mobile controllers am I able to use for PS Remote Play on my iPhone besides the Backbone necessarily?
Hi Matthew - I think if you're looking at remote play, a decent solution is just pairing your Dual Sense controller with your phone/tablet/computer. The latency is fine and you'll find there's no issue with having access to certain buttons etc.
My husband has a ps4, we both have accounts on it. My question is can we both play at the same time? Like him on the ps4 and me on the backbone?
Hi Heather. Good question- I’m not 100% sure. Gut feel says no as Remote Play essentially mirrors what’s on your PS4 at any one time and to my knowledge you can’t be signed into a PS4/5 as two different people.
I suppose you could test this by trying it via the regular Remote Play app…
If you buy the PlayStation version, but playing mobile games or Xbox games, does the button mapping in-game change to the PlayStation buttons, or do they still show A,B,X,Y?
Hi Nafis- the button mapping will change depending what platform you’re using. So if you’re using it to stream Xbox games the equivalent triangle/circle etc will automatically map to ABXY 👍🏻
So let me get this straight. You can play from pretty much anywhere in the world as long as your actual PS5 is connected to an internet connection and is either left on or in rest mode as long as you turn on Mobile data. However to play PS5 games you don’t need a subscription but to play other games you need a subscription? My last question is do we need to use the backbone app to play PS5 games remotely or do we need to be on the PS Play app
Exactly right. 👍🏻 Backbone will absolutely throw their subscription down your throat when you set this up. You need their app to configure the controller and download firmware updates etc, but that’s it.
You do not (I REPEAT DO NOT) need the subscription for what you’re asking about. No matter how much their app tries to get you to sign up for one! 😊
And once you’re all setup you can use the Backbone controller with the PS Remote play app and it’ll work fine. You don’t need to play via the Backbone app.
Can you use this with remote play while on airplane mode during a flight? Or do you need to be connected to wifi or cellular data to use it?
You could use it in flight mode with your on-board iPhone games, no problem.
You’d only need wifi/cellular enabled if you’re wanting to hook back to your console remotely.
Quick question so I’ve connected it to my ps5 already I tried to drive down the block to play but it will not connect how do I get it to do so
Check the mobile carrier settings in the backbone app. They’re switched off by default.

Yes, as long as it’s in the PS4 when you want to play it on the Backbone.

As long as the games you want to play aren’t PS5 games, yes you’re good!
When your console is on or in rest mode and your out the house trying to use your backbone controller. Does your console need to be connected to WiFi to be able to use the backbone controller to play PlayStation games?
Yep, ideally via a network cable.

Hmm. It’s over almost 18 months since I made this so it might be they’ve altered the app and pushed the subscription much more.

Hi - no it's not enough to just connect the account. The way this works is by mirroring what is on your PS to your phone. Your console needs to be on or in rest mode and then it will work when mirrored to your phone using Remote Play. As I say in the video - you don't need to be nearby- as long as your console and phone connected to a decent speed network connections, you can technically be on the other side of the world!

It shouldn’t need you to subscribe to Backbone+, but you will need a backbone account (free).

It doesn’t need a charge- it draws power from your phone. If your phone is running low there’s a pass through lightning charger on the bottom of the right hand side of the controller. I talk about this in my original unboxing/review:

Hey I’m thinking about buying the iPhone backbone. I have a iPhone 12 Pro my question is if I upgrade my iPhone in 10 months to the IPhone 15 and if it is usb-c instead of lightning port what I do with the backbone? I’ll it still work with usb-c?
Hi Ty. Short answer is that I don't know. I'm guessing Backbone will ship them with an adapter when iPhone moves to USB-C.

But it said in the advert a console is not required so why do u need a PlayStation to play ps games??
Because PlayStation only lets you play remotely via streaming direct from a console. A console isn’t required if you use Xbox or just want to play Apple Arcade games.

You can play it outside away from home but you’ll need to setup your console / app like I show in this video.

No. You need a connection to link to your console remotely.

Hi Braden, yes, as long as the disk is in the console when you want to stream it, you're good.
Just bought my backbone yesterday on sale. Amd ive been playing it all day today. Idk why my phone doesnt connect to my ps5 when its on rest mode. It just says manually link after i already linked it. Any ideas why ?
Hmm. The PS hasn’t got any kind of power saving switched on has it? Might be overriding the rest mode and putting it into a deeper sleep.

I have another video out on this this weekend. Backbone go in HARD with this in the app but you do not need the subscription to stream games from your console.

My iPhone gives me the option to subscribe to backbone+3 or +4 and a few other ones and I can’t seem to find the differences anywhere so does anyone know this?

Without a backbone subscription? Yes you can.

You don’t have a PlayStation? In that case no it won’t matter- if you want to play PlayStation games on this device you’ll need a console. If it’s just Fifa you want to play (or anything that’s not a PlayStation exclusive you can make that work by paying for Xbox Cloud Gaming.

As in your PS5 is in one place, you’re connecting via the backbone and your friends are somewhere else playing their console directly? Yep. You’ll need a fast connection but it’ll work.
Can I play a game like Roblox on the backbone for free? Because I've been seeing trying tk select games on the back bone But it's not allowing me to select it. And since it's kind of a Mobile game. Do I have to still have my Xbox or a PS4 on?
You can play it through your mobile via the mobile app. But if you want to play the Xbox or PS version your PS will need to be on or in rest mode.

If I have the Xbox version but own a ps5… will the orange button take me back to the ps home if signed in.. or Xbox home? Side note, I don’t care for Xbox, mistakenly received that version as a gift vs the ps edition 😢

It’s because it’s just mirroring what’s on your PlayStation. You can play with multiple accounts, just not at the same time- just as with your console.
My question is can I mirror on tv ? Play on tv instead of iPhone ?
Technically yes you could but the quality would be horrible. You’d be mirroring it twice.
Can I remote play any PlayStation game I got on my account? Like I have GT7 that’s disc and couple games I got disc
If it’s a disc game the disc will need to be in the console when you’re remote playing.

Yep, you can play remotely on cellular data. You just need to configure it in the app - I show you how in this video.
You may prefer a decent WiFi hotspot for something like COD though as the latency may make it difficult to play.

Same answer as 'do I need a console'? Depends on what games you want to play - if you're playing iOS games that are controller-compatible - no problem playing on an airplane. You won't be able to remote play into your PlayStation though as that does require a (good) connection.

Hi Berto! Yes it will work with COD mobile and any iOS game that supports controllers. I’ve been playing with Asphalt 9 and it works really well.

I'm confuse. Maybe you can help me... Can i use Backbone with my Mac without B+ subscription? On their site they say Yes (Android users) and Nope (iPhone). Seems that this feature is only free for Backbone Android version. 😢

@@MrBlackcandy85 Unless you’re moving between your Mac and an iPhone/Android to play Xbox Gamepass games, just get an Xbox controller and pair it with your mac. The experience will be much better.

Yes, they make it seem like it won't when you set up the app, but you 100% DO NOT need the subscription!

I advise to NOT use rest mode because you can corrapt your hard drive
Thanks Lawrence. I’d only had my PS5 a month or so before this was an issue…thought it was a brick and then managed to repair the hard drive. Rest mode did some damage for sure!

Hi Taffy- you only need a console if you’re playing PlayStation games! Anything else you can play using the controller just fine.

Is the left analog stick of backbone durable enough?
Yes it’s plenty durable. I must say from using a Dual Sense it did take me a while to adjust to the distance between sticks (I have the iPhone Pro Max which makes it quite a wide device to hold).

Im new with backbone one. I got this playstation edition. Do you know how to change some settings so the game can detect my controller as playstation instead of xbox? The games shows XYAB instead of triangle square circle cross in tutorials and across the games. Maybe its just a toggle somewhere. Can’t find any answer in google or backbone website. Hope you can help me out. Thanks

@@ThatMarkGilroy Genshin, apex and all apple arcade games except dead cells. Looks like its a per game setup. Its confusing especially for new games during tutorial. Still hope this can be fixed.
Genshin does not register the ps5 controller as a ps controller but the ps4 controller does register as ps controller
How far can you travel with the backbone and still play it?
As long as your PS is connected to a decent broadband connection and in rest mode, you can be in another country (as long as you’re also connected to a decent speed connection).

@ryantsang3483 Rest mode still leaves it connected to a network for updates and downloads, so it can be turned on remotely while in that mode.
@@ThatMarkGilroy so if the ps5 is completely off and you’re 50 miles away for work, you can use the backbone controller from there and turn the ps5 on to play? Then turn it off after you’re done from 50 miles away?
