oh nice product, and good review man. I was looking for a gift for my lil brother who already uses PS5 remote but is always complaining about controlling with the touch screen. Thanks man! (I might actually end up buying another one for myself haha)
It’s honestly a great purchase if you game a lot on your phone!
Annual fee to access free features ...
40 dollars a year.. 🤢
@jes6628 it's not really a bad price for stuff that can be useful for your use case. It's probably the highest quality phone controller, one of that offers stuff that would be similar to PSN and Xbox Live. You pay for the subscriptions if that's your thing. Or just don't use it at all. They need to be able to afford their servers and bandwidth usage for that stuff.
People often don't appreciate the effort put into those services. Most PC related services are free like Steam, Epic, Blizzard, Rockstar, but they also have other ways of covering the cost of that to support their games in parallel.
Steam makes boat loads of money off their store. It's literally a meme to spend money on steam.
Epic notably has the Fortnite cash cow.
Blizzard has their whole first party games system like the Diablo series, and World of Warcraft notably.
Rockstar with red dead redemption, and GTA.
All of those main stream games and services are just the tip of the iceberg.
PlayStation and Xbox are known to basically take some loses on their consoles and make up for it in the long term with their online services and store sales. They also have to fund RND for new consoles, their social stuff, their servers.
There's always a balance. If it offers a service, it's always going to come at a price. You're basically paying for ease of playing with friends and using remote streaming at the cost of 2 months of Netflix.
You don't have to launch cloud gaming from the backbone app yk that right it's free on the actual cloud gaming website
@@jes6628 not to terrible though if you think about it 3.33 a month especially when Ubisoft is charging 17 a month, but like you said you don’t have to use that option
Hi, would a 5.8 inche display be too small for Remote Play? I'm a bit divided...
so do i need to pay the subscription to play cod mobile?
Is the fifa game compatible with this device
Can I use this even with my ps4?
Yes
Thank you for your honesty 🙏 i appreciate you pointing out the fine print that $40 bucks a month lol no way they can forget about that.
$100 bucks for said device plus $40 a month 😳 no way.
It’s $40 for the whole year. You don’t need to subscribe to use it either. It’s just to use there app which essentially is just a hub where it organizes all your games from different platforms in one app. You don’t need it to use the backbone.
Do you need an actual ps5 for this or can you just buy the backbone ?
you can just play
Yup, you can just play without having a PS5!
I just purchased one on Amazon. I’ve been holding out for the 2nd gen version since they now work with my case.
Nice one, literally just bought one for Steam Link and PS Remote play 🙏
You’re going to love it!
I see on the Backbone app that you can play Steam games as well. Do you need the subscription to use that feature or is it free?
Yes all streaming apps ps Xbox and steam
didn’t even cover the delta emulator app in the app store now, this will make that whole experience so much nicer
Yes great point! I need more time to play around with it but might post a short about it soon!
@@jamesleeshin can’t wait to see it, been wanting to buy one so bad but can’t justify the price 😮
Can you play pc games on your phone, with the backbone android playstation version, via the moonlight stream app?
Wish I could play offline this is a worse portal
Amazing video!
Thank you!!
Is backbone independent? Like can i play games there without my console at all
Yes you can use it without a console!
I hated the backbone for awhile. I exclusively used for remote play and cod mobile. Over time just a hassle to bring with me and eventually deleted games off. Battery was draining faster from gaming. I couldnt use its for genshin impact. So its only purpose for cod and emulators. Biggest downside when you make your phone a gaming phone and daily phone bring a back up a charger.
I got this controller because its playstation compliant for remote play.
Eventually got a backbone for my iphone se 2nd gen. Strictly gaming phone. And take back about everything i said.
Im currently obessed with quick and easy mobile handheld gaming for emulators.
I do say backbone for iphone comes in clutch. For gaming on the go. Convience and time.
I had a gamesir x2. Enjoyed it but apps started to reject the controller.
Backbone was a standard for a lot of apps for awhile. So keep in mind will be compatible with alot of apps unlike the gamesir or razer.
The fact is most games are close to 70$ anyway 60 more dollars… plus if you want to pay 40$ a year sub it doesn't seem that unreasonable
Can you use mods on games through the Backbone 1?
Yes 😂😂it’s crazy
No! Bsp controllers prove it!
Mine dont Connect to my phone anymore, and its just 6 months Old. I dont know how to fix it
After 2 months, my backbone gen 2 broken, left side totally no responding, don't buy. You will regret it!
Maybe you dum
can we connect it through steam app?
Second gen works with fold 5!
I don’t have a back bone I ended up going with the portal because I’m using the iPhone 13 mini haha. But from what I heard this works great. I’m definitely gonna buy one for my nephew he has a big phone that’ll benefit from this. Have you seen the razer one for the newer iPad mini’s. That’s tempting to buy for my iPad mini. Good video. New subscriber now
I just looked it up, is it the Razer Kishi? That actually looks really tempting since I also have the iPad Mini! Appreciate you subscribing
@@jamesleeshin yea that’s it! Thing looks good! iPad looks good when it’s attached too. Can’t wait to see if you get it haha
Do you need to actually own any of the other devices. Like Xbox and PlayStation n shit
Yes you have to own the console. And be within the distance for remote play otherwise you can’t access your PlayStation or Xbox game library. Restricting for something that claims to be portable 😂
Backbone PS edition is pretty nice literally is like PS portal😂
Can I connect it on the TV?
Do you need to buy subscription to play Xbox games and ps game
What are the alternatives??
Nah, not worth it
Stupid question, but the games you want to play still need to be downloaded off the app store, right? It's not like a bunch of games preloaded on the controller?
Neither actually. It’s remotely mirrored off your console.
Good stuff
Can you play it if you’re not home, like if I’m at work and I wanna play on my break would the back bone allow me to do that?
Yes you can as long as you are on WiFi and your PS5 at home is on rest mode
@@oscarpantojasosa4914 most of my games are disk, will they still play?
Good review dude
Thank you!!
Does it support any iOS game?
@Cre8Peaceah, thanks. But I already returned it to the story. It’s not for me.
I have asked this question to many users but no one has answered me, would it be possible to access with the Backbone to your PlayStation account to be able to buy and play games in the cloud? I say this for those who do not have a console, especially me.
You won’t be able to play games in the cloud without a console. Remote play basically mirrors your console output
I was about to buy this but when I saw it requires subs then I’m out
Nice James!!!
Thank you Jo!
Do you have to own a PS5 in order to play the PS Backbone version?
Nope! PS Backbone version is more for the look, the functionality is the same as the regular one. Obviously you still need a PS5 to use remote play!
do we need a ps5 for this ? and please don't say me that we need to connect to the ps remote play
Just got my portal today and it runs like a dedicated handled. I have the back bone, it’s not in the league of the portal for PlayStation games. I started to hate using the backbone. Having to tune my phone in airplane mode was a bummer so I would get notifications as I played. The portal is badass
Yeah definitely not on the level of a dedicated device like the portal if you want to play PS5 games! I will say backbone is more portable and you can use it to play mobile games too
I mean you can’t use the portal on the plane
@@ronthorn3 If the plane has wifi why can't you.
Do you need too have the console t9o play it
Everybody keeps tlkn about annual fee…it’s only like 40$ step yo bread game up
Lol
You go ahead and sub to a controller. I'll just laugh at you and eat popcorn. 😏
